Does anybody know any details of the meal plan soon to be offered to DVC members?

Can you tell me what you know?

Thanks, in advance!

You'll find what we know (according to MS) in this thread:

Nothing official has come out in writing yet. Keep an eye on the Members' website or better yet, this forum. I 'm sure someone will post as soon as the official word is published.

Best wishes -

From what I recall reading it is $37.99/day adults and 10.99/day kids. Everyone in your party must purchase it. It includes 1 table service meal-appetizer,entree,dessert and non alchoholic bev.,1 counter service meal-entree,side dish, dessert and non alchoholic drink and 1 snack-popcorn,ice cream bar, drink/pp per day. Alot of food. I am weighing if it will be a good deal for our Nov. trip with db,sil,dn and dn. We have the DDE card and usually don't do a table service each day.

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask, but I have been reading your posts about the upcoming DP for DVC members. This is my first post, so bear with me. We have are next trip planned for May 05, four days BCV, four days VWL, myself, husband and twin four year okds. Would it be advantageous to get the DP. We do usually like one good sit down meal per day on vacation. I also have CRT for breakfast booked, along with with the princess breakfast at Epcot. Can the dining plan be used for character meals? Thanks for any help.

Yes, the DP can be ued for you character meals. CRT woul use two table service credits per person. AS far as to whether the DP would be of advantage to you depends entirely upon your dining habits. If, at your daily table service meal, you normally would eat appetizer, entree and dessert the DP would most likely be an advantage for you.

Welcome to the discussion boards, Twins4Disney!!

Read the Dining Plan/Restaurant review in my signature.

If you like to have 1 Nice Table Service per day, then the dining plan is well worth the money.

The dining plan would have cost us $685 plus tax to purchase (we went on the "free" plan that was offered in September)

We ate nearly $1200 worth of food...and it was GREAT food!

Bingo. We went on the free plan back in August/September. We ate more than $1,300 in food between the three of us over 9 days. Price wise we would've made out with the DP, but the question is, did we need to eat that much. Looking back, probably not.

But it was great trying all of the restuarants and ordering whatever we wanted.

I don't know if anyone has noticed yet, but the Dining Plan for DVC Members has been posted on the DVC Member site. As soon as you log on, its there on the home page. It doesn't discuss the cost of the plan, just that its available and what the dining plan covers. But I guess its official now that its on the member site.

Does the $37.99/day include tax?

fonzy13 or unixadm

Did you get the free plan booking via DVC, or through a regular package? Sorry if it's covered on your site/review, but I can't go check now because dh is lurking over me to get me off the computer. He has overtime to do, and need to use the internet.

Thanks!

Julie

I'm waiting for it to be official. :Pinkbounc

Not only does it cover tax, but also an 18% gratuity. I made ADR's today for June, was told I can switch them over to the dining plan once I purchase it (after April).

Well, it's on the member website now. No pricing specifics and whether or not tax will be applied to the cost at time of purchase. Good general info, though.

What about people renting points? Would they be able to use this?
CM I spoke to said "yes", it could be added 48 hours prior to arrival with payment due in full @ check-in.

Do I understand this correctly? It doesn't require an associated purchase of admission? So we can use remaining days on our existing passes, but still purchase the dining plan?

That is my understanding. Even AP holders qualify for the DVC plan. Just take a few minutes to do the math and make sure it will be a value to you, especially if you usually use the DDE and are average to light eaters even at Table Service venues...especially if you don't normally eat appetizer, entree, beverage and dessert at every TS meal.

I did the math. What an eye-opener. It's a shame it isn't available for me for our January trip. We would have saved over $300.

Personally I prefer the Disney Dining Experience but it's only available to AP holders. It gets you a 20% discount on meals at almost all the Disney sit down service restaurants and doesn't tie you to eating three times a day. I normally eat breakfast at the golf course and have dinner in one of the hotels or parks and have snacks at "home".
