Forgive me if this should be in a sticky, but I didn't see that it really belonged in one.

I have a simple question, does ME offer service to the Swan/Dolphin? My friend (who's also a big Disney fan) has been on ME to the Beach Club when it has stopped at the Swan/Dolphin. I always thought the Swan/Dolphin didn't have service from ME. Am I wrong?

No - DME isn't available at the Dolphin or Swan.

Since you can purchase transportation from Mears to the S&D occasionally you will end up on a DME bus. Most of the time though S&D mears passengers are on a regular mears bus.

That would explain your friends experience though.

Most other WDW Resort perks are offered at S&D including extra magic hours!

No,you are not wrong.:)

Guests who stay at S/D ARE eligible for ME if they are also doing a Disney Cruise.

That is probably why the BC ME bus atopped at S/D.:)

Thanks to both of you! Bummer, there was a glimmer of hope! But I guess we can't get ME if we're only doing a long weekend.

Appreciate the answers :)

I was put on an ME bus once to the Swan. I paid for the ticket with Mears (it was not free), I was not on a cruise, but that's where they put me.

Thanks for the info!:)

I had always heard S/D Guests who were taking a Disney Cruise had access to ME.

Sorry for the wrong info!:)

Also, how does it work for S/D guests on the return trip to OIA?Do they use ME buses then too? Thanks!

It's not called ME in this case. It's the optional Disney Cruise Line ground transportation sold separately in the cruise booking.

DCL ground transportation was the model for Magical Express and Mears operated the buses for it back then too. Why ME didn't spring up sooner I don't know.

Sept '08 I was staying at the Swan. I decided to give Mears a shot to see how it all worked. I'm such a good little moderator for transportation!!!! Anyway....I had previously booked my ride with Mears so just had to print out my ticket when I got to the counter. I then headed over to the outside stand to checkin. I was given a beeper and they would 'beep' me when they were ready to board me. I kiddingly said that it was too bad they couldn't just put me on the BW/S/D DME bus. Man you would have thought I had asked to ride in a private towncar, free of charge!!! SHe looked at me and said, and I quote..."Those buses are ONLY for people staying at WDW owned resorts. You don't get to go on that bus..you have to use our buses!' Man, she was peeved with me.
I was put in a van, after waiting about 5 mins. We went to several non-Disney resorts first then on to the S/D..took about 75-80 mins.

I booked a one-way from the Dolphin back to MCO and it was a regular Mears van.

I will be staying at the Dolphin for the first time in June. I too found out no DME...BUT at least it gets EMH. I was going to rent a car for the first time in 10 years at WDW.
