ME question

I know how you feel. I was surprised at the response you got from some people. We are getting our luggage and then riding ME as well. Our luggage usually beats us to the claim area or is there within 5 minutes so it's no big deal. Plus, ME is on the same side as our claim area so it's a breeze. I like to unpack when I arrive and not have to wait until hours later to find out if my bags arrived. And I don't mind the additional tipping required.

NO problem. You're not basing your decision on the experiences of the early guests who didn't even have the yellow tags.

Just remember if you arrive in the am or early afternoon your room might not be ready and you'll have to have your luggage stored. Your approach works great if you're arriving on the "A" side of the terminal and are arriving in the afternoon when you're pretty sure your room will be ready when you checkin.

I've used DME twice now..once with checked luggage and once with just carry-on stuff. Both times there was little to no wait in line for the bus. I waited about 3 minutes to be checked in at the DME desk and then another 3 minutes in the bus line. Once on the bus, I think the longest wait was about 10 minutes. The time I did checked luggage, our bags got to our room about 25 minutes after we did. We stayed at BCV and got into our room at 2:30, our bags arrived at 3. We always take any meds, toiletries and bathing suits and a clean large t-shirt in a carryon bag. I will say that when we flew SW two weeks ago and had only carry-on, I missed being able to check my luggage at the resort. I probably would have done that if I had flown Song, as usual. It was just too much hassle to lug my stuff around. We booked that trip with about 6 days notice, so not enough time to get our luggage tags, so we went with just carry-on since it was a short trip. Never again!!! I'll check my bags and let DME worry about them...and then check them at the resort for the trip back. That's the only way to do if for me!!!!

Arriving late on a Sunday for a 7-day/6-nite stay on-site that actually begins on Monday . . .

Probably will rent a car and stay at a hotel near MCO, then get an early start on Sunday for a full park day . . . (other alternative is to shuttle back to airport early Monday AM to meet the ME(ars) bus.

Will Magic Express take our non-hand luggage to our hotel on Sunday, even though we're physically arriving and checking in on Monday?

On departure day, can we use Magic Express airline and non-hand luggage check-in (we're flying Continental) and get our boarding passes even if we then drive to MCO independently?

Thanks Horace!

Sometimes I am very suprised at how opininated people are on these boards. It is not like the OP getting her own luggage would affect anyone else's trip. If she packed Diamonds in there that is her business. I thought that's what these boards were for people to get answers to there questions not judged on their choices. Can't we all just get along.

Winter- Sorry you got a few rude comments and not just a straight answer to your question.

Since I'm new to ME (used Mears last trip), I have a few questions:
1) I'll book my hotel room directly by Disney's website, and I'll come from Italy. When I'll receive my ME tags for the baggage? How many tags I'll receive? Can I request more tags?
2) When and where I'll have to put ME tags on my baggage?
3) There is any "horror story" about baggage lost by ME? what about the maximum time of delivery experienced by this board's users?
4) What means that I have to tip for my baggage? If I have a trolley with me I have to pay the ME driver???
5) Is known if the ME will be free and available on May 2006?

Thank You!

1) Normally 21 days before your trip but I don't if Disney allows extra time for overseas guests.
2) If you clear customs in Orlando you'll have to pick up your bags at the first carousel. After you clear customs your yellow tags will cause your bags to bypass the second carousel and will go right to your resort. If you clear customs at another airport you won't have to touch your luggage at MCO. No reason why you can't put your yellow tags on your bags before you leave Italy. You can ask for extra tags.
3)Do a search, very few problems.
4) If a drivers helps you with your luggage you normally tip $1-$2 /bag.
5) Free through the celebration December 31, 2006. Unknown if it'll remain free.
