Sunday October 31st
My plane doesnt leave till 13.30, which means I can get up at a normal time, do all the stuff I still need to do and then go catch the train to the airport. DH is going to make sure I leave
The Star Wars DVDs have just come and hes looking forward to watching them while Im away.
Home till check in goes smoothly, but going through passport control was incredibly busy. It took me as long as it took from home to the airport to go through passport control!! Half way through the queue DH and I decided it was ridiculous for him to stand there, so we said our goodbyes and I was truly solo. One good thing about the queue, once I was through I could slowly walk to the gate (which wasnt the furthest one for a change!) and boarding had already started.
I had booked my seat on the net beforehand, and then it looked like Id have an empty seat next to me, no such luck. A large guy sat next to me, pulled his beanie hat down over his eyes and went off to sleep . Before take off!! Better take it easy on the liquid intake ..
The flight was fine, the lady in front of me put her seat back into my lap
, but as the personal screens could be tilted I could still watch The Nightmare Before Christmas : a very appropriate movie! Food was ok, but you had to pay for alcohol, not that I was planning to drink, but I noticed it, cause on United you get wine with your meal and drinks afterwards!
Pretty soon we landed at Newark, I got a quick glimpse of New York, but then the plane turned and all you could see was New Jersey. Immigration went quickly, fingerprints and photo were no problem and the immigration officer was even friendly! As I only had hand baggage I could go straight through and didnt have to do the wait- pick up- drop off routine (see, theres method in my madness!). I went into the bookshop and treated myself to the first book in the No 1. Ladies Detective Agency at the recommendation of my friend Carol. Then it was on to Orlando!! This time I was luckier and had the seat next to me free. The next seat up was a gentleman from Sierra Leone who was in Florida to keep an eye on the elections!
Coming into land at Orlando there was a most amazing orange moon. It was like a huge pumpkin, Im sure Mickey put it there just to welcome me.
Ah, the lovely warm air of Orlando: Im Here!! Im Here!!
Went downstairs to find the Mears location, found the pick up, now where do I get my ticket.. ah, inside. That was taken care of quickly and I was just settling down to wait when the shuttle arrived. We had to drop off the other passengers first at Downtown Disney hotels and then finally, we were on property!!!! 5 minutes later I was home.
Check in went quickly, (its pretty quiet at 9 pm!) I grabbed some halloween candy and went across to the store to get some breakfast stuff (I saw they had the DVC limited edition watches... very tempting) and then I was off to my room. I had a handicapped accesible room In my experience they give these out the last .so if you check in late, you will probably get one, but I dont mind as theyre slightly bigger than the other rooms. I was near to the Hospitality House, as Id requested and on the ground floor as Id forgotten first was ground floor in the US. But the room was fine, and after testing the beds for bounce (as Id promised Bexx) I chucked my stuff in the cupboards, e-mailed DH with my room number and crawled into bed. I had to get my beauty sleep, I was meeting Rhys & Jessica in the morning!
