If you are pre-registered with DME you don't really NEED anything but a photo ID.

EDIT- See my post #8 below.

I've never needed a photo id, just the magic band

I've never needed to show ID, even before Magic Bands. You'll be fine with just your Magic Bands.

I'm told MB's are not shipped to Canada and will be waiting for us at the resort when we check in - so I assume MB's are NOT required for everyone. So I'm guessing all you need is confirmation of your reservation and/or photo ID :confused3

We just needed the booklet they send out about a month before with your luggage tags (we're Canadian also). Our customized bands were waiting at AoA for us when we arrived.

I live in the US but have booked trips with too short of notice to have my magicbands and ME booklet shipped. Don't worry about it at all - if you don't have the booklet or band, they will direct you to the counter where they'll print off your info for you, and then they'll scan that to get you into the proper line. It literally took maybe 3 minutes longer than just scanning a band. Also, I didn't even need photo ID to do any of that, just my name and resort.

The point of my answer is that guests do not need a MagicBand or any kind of paperwork… IF they are pre-registered with DME.

If they show a photo ID (or otherwise validate who they are,) they can get anything they need (including a ride to their resort and bags sent there) from DME.

If you HAVE a MagicBand, that's fine.
If you HAVE the DME paperwork, that's fine.
If you HAVE the yellow luggage tags attached to your bags, that fine.

BUT if you DON"T have any of those things with you.
(You forgot to bring them. You accidentally packed them in your checked luggage. You never got them in the mail. Etc.)
You can still use MDE.
All you need is to identify yourself and they can look up the rest of your info and issue the bus tickets on-the-spot.
AND If you DON'T have the yellow luggage tags attached to your bags, you can just hand the CM at the DME check-in desk your regular airline luggage claim checks and the DME folks can collect and deliver your bags using just those claim checks.

SO this is why I said that if guests are pre-registered with DME, they do not NEED a MagicBand or any kind of paperwork, if they just validate who they are.
