We are arriving December 25th at about 9PM. We have to have our luggage that night because I have to travel with my own sheats, soaps, shampoos, etc because of severe allergies. After a day of travelling we are probably Going to want to go to be very soon after we arrive. We figure it would probably be best if we grab our own luggage. We will probably have 4 checked suitcases between the 4 of us ( 2 with clothes, 1 with sheets/blankets, 1 with food) plus carry ons including one rolling medical bag ( nebulizer and 2 gallon size ziplock of medications). So that will be a lot to handle. That has always been one of the things we love about ME is that we don't have to get our luggage but we usually arrive no later than 4PM...this was the cheapest flight this time.

So how do we go about collecting the luggage? We haven't collected luggage since before they introduced ME. We are flying southwest so will we be on the opposite side from ME pick up? Can we use a cart to transport our luggage across the airport?

Also, how early does RAC open at resorts? We usually don't leave until later in the afternoon some always check our bags before going to the park but this year we have a 10:50AM departure on the 31st so I'm guessing our pick up will be about 7:50. Would we be able to check our luggage at CBR early enough for that flight. We really don't want to have to deal with the luggage on the way back as well.

Leave the ME tags off of your bags and collect your checked bags. You will have to collect them on level 2, take the elevator to level 3 and then cross over to the B side and go down to level 1 for ME. It's not too bad a journey.

RAC opens at 5 a.m., so you should have time to check your bags. With a 10:50 a.m. departure know that you will have to have the RAC process completed by 7:50 a.m.

Southwest lands on the "A" side and the bus is on "B" side. Easy way to remember is "B" for bus. You will have to collect the luggage from the "A" and take it with you to the bus. Yep you can take the luggage cart from A side to B side.

pack what you'd need for that night in a couple of bags and yellow tag the rest? I imagine (and I understand that I know NOTHING about your allergy situation) you could put clothes for the first night/day and essential foods in 1 bag and the needed bedding/toiletries in the second. The rest of the clothes and food could be yellow tagged and delivered to you that night or the next morning. Then you'd have your carryons and only 2 bags to shlep through the airport.

Thanks for this tip! I can never remember which side Magical Express is on. :headache: B for bus will be very easy to remember!

I didnt even think of this. That could be an option. We'll have to see how it works out when we are packing. Its so frustrating. We used to travel with 2 suitcases. One large and one small for 3 of us. Now because of my allergies its out of control with what we have to travel with....and it seems like we have to travel with more stuff every year!

yes the airport is confusing but thanks for the B for bus thought...i will use that as I got lost the last time i collected my luggage and then went the wrong way and was on level 1 but the A side so had to go all the way back up and then back down to level 1 for the B side for the magical express ....

If you travel to WDW frequently (once per year or more), you would be a good candidate for the Owner's Locker. They are a DIS board sponsor

http://www.ownerslocker.com/

If you don't know who they are, it is basically a mini storage service. For an annual fee, you get a storage container (like the ones for putting Holiday decorations in) that is stored in Orlando and delivered to your hotel (not just Disney hotels) when you visit. if you need to travel with special sheets, soaps, dry foods, and other items, it may be more cost effective to keep these items in a locker. You can even store clothing in there and maybe reduce your overall luggage needs.

Good luck!
