The flight I wanted went from$183 to $232!!!

We are only staying 4 nights have dinner reservations at 8:30 pm Cape May and we are staying at POR and haven't decided if we are renting a car or not.
kids are 16 & 12

flight going home is on that wed for only $89 in the afternoon nonstop

Can't decide on the flight going down the only other good ones are $183 ouch
Would you wait & hope they go down but one already went up!!

thanks any help would be great!!

It's so hard to predict what airfares will do. I can only tell you from my experience with booking SWA thru MDW, or sometimes MKE. Your travel date is still 6 months out. I have historically gotten the best rates at about 3-4 months out.
Not sure if this helps...good luck with whatever you decide

Well, you're going on a Saturday during Spring Break Season. Looking at the Southwest web site, there are later flights on Saturday, but they might mess up your dinner reservation. Can you leave Friday? I see a flight from MDW for $121.

Have you checked out Indy? It does not look much better from there but you might want to check yourself.

thanks
already booked leaving out of Orlando to MDW for only $89.00 each way
kids are still in school the day before

not sure

Assuming it's SWA, I would book the $89 flight - with everyone on separate reservations (unless you have a young child who can't travel alone)
Then continue to watch the fares. With no change fees for SWA, you can easily change it later if your preferred flight lowers its price. We are heading BDL-MCO 10/22. I missed out on $99 when the fares first opened up. I watched and watched and watched.... it was at least $159 and sometimes more. Then one day, there was an $89 sale and my preferred flight was on sale, but I was away from from my computer and couldn't get it to finalize on the ipad. The next day, I tried and it wasn't available, but delta had matched the $89 with times I could live with so I booked Delta. THREE WEEKS later, SWA offered the flight and time I wanted for $99 although it had not been offered for 2-3 months! And it's still $99, but unfortunately Delta doesn't have the lucrative change policy so we'll stick with the Delta. What's different in your situation is that you're going at a very busy time - whereas I was going in OCtober. WWID? Either book the $89 or book the $121 on Friday and maybe stay at an airport hotel on priceline.
Good luck - usually travelling at peak times it's best not to delay and with SWA lucrative change policy, Book at the price you can live with and keep watching.

Thanks I booked going home!!

It is getting there that is so high!! I just don't want to take the kids out of school!

All I see is $183!!
I know it is a busy time but we will take advantage of the extra hours!
thanks

I just booked our trip this week 3/22 - 3/30 out of MDW. I agree - the prices are insane. I got the flight out for $139 although it has a stopover. After I bought the tickets, it went up to $152 so I must have gotten the last few seats. I am taking the kids out a bit early on 3/22 and they will miss the 1/2 day on 3/23 but otherwise the rates are $232 or higher! Coming home, we had to take 3/30 as Fri/Sat were $275 or higher! Ridiculous. I am with you on taking the kids out of school but I just can't stomach a $500/$600 flight.

My experience with SW is that the rates will decrease a bit if they don't sell the seats but that won't be until 6-8 weeks before your trip so that is cutting it too close for me. I bit the bullet and bought the tickets and will hope for a possible credit.

Good luck to you!

Air went back up again!! How long would you wait? it is just to high yesterday it was 162 one way now it is 186!!

You are trying to fly from cold weather to Florida, on the Saturday that starts many schools' spring breaks. It is not going to be super cheap.

I watch our SW fares constantly. I am completely satisfied with the flights I have at the moment, but I still check every day to see if they go down. So, given my experience with watching the fares, there is still a chance that they will go down after the new year, but I personally wouldn't wait. They dropped them once a few weeks ago and now they are creeping back up because people are buying the tickets. $186 is actually a good rate for spring break as the norm is $200/$300.

Have you looked at other airlines? I would recommend booking *something* now, as it's probably just going to go up, unless you hit a sale.

I have already booked our flight from Orlando to Midway to Chicago so it has to be out of Midway Chicago
honestly I have not flown another airline other than SWA in years!
