Hello,
I'm trying to do this right the first time vs trying to fix later!

I have an MDE with my daughter (she has her own too). She's listed as Family and Friends (we share plans) also her daughter is listed from before she needed a ticket to use for dining, hotels etc
She just purchased her daughter (3) an Annual Pass, Florida resident which is listed in DD's MDE.

My Daughter and Granddaughter have always been in my MDE because I do the planning for her 99% of the time. Since she's not an adult, will I be able to do the email request to share plans for Granddaughter or will my Daughter always have to do it since it was purchased in her account?

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks!

Your granddaughter's profile was created/managed under her mother's (your DD's) MDE account, if I have that right. It sounds like maybe she isn't linked, or not sharing all plans - probably because she was too young to need a ticket in the past so it wasn't noticed. You need to link by sending an email to her through your DD's email. Or your DD can initiate the friend request for the child.

I had a similar situation so here's my experience. YMMV.

I was not able to add my 5 yo granddaughter to my MDE account as a friend/family for our trip in June. She is managed by her father, but I was going to be doing the LL/ILL reservations for the entire extended family for most of that trip. Every time we tried to add her to my account via email or QR code, it would remove her from my son's account and add her to mine -- indicating she could only be managed by 1 person. We weren't spending every day together at the parks, so my son still needed to be able to plan for her in addition to me making plans for her. I finally called Disney IT (called at 7:00 am on a Saturday morning and only had to wait on hold about 5 minutes) and they took care of it in a few seconds. I asked if I was missing something on the app that would have allowed me to do this myself. The guy I talked to there said there's no way to "share" a child who doesn't have their own account (so any child under 13) through the app. You have to call and have them do it.

That guy is incorrect. I manage both my kids and my husband can make plans for them, in order for people to add my kids on their friends and family, I have to share my list:

Once my list is shared, if someone wants to add them to their list they have to

Add a guest, then click

Then I get the email to approve the request to add.

ETA: @traveljunkie your daughter needs to make sure her list is shared, then you should be able to go in through MDE to add a guest through your connected guests and select your granddaughters profile.

That didn't work for us. We knew how to share our lists and did that successfully with everyone else in the group (as we've done for previous trips). We had 4 family "units" (a total of 11 people) shared on this trip and everyone else worked fine with no issues. It was just this one child that was the problem (and this was the only child under age 13). Everyone else in that family shared fine. I could "see" the child on the list, but under her name it said, "Plans for XX can only be managed by YY (her dad)". Believe me, we tried everything. After following the instructions on the website (the ones you captured in your post) several times and always having the same results (failure and messages that indicated children under 13 can only be managed by one person), I did searches online to try and figure it out. None of the suggestions from other message boards/FB groups worked except the suggestion from various people who said, "oh, that happened to us -- you need to call". Maybe something has changed in the last few months...and maybe it's been "fixed" since June. We didn't have this problem with previous trips but it was definitely an issue this summer.

ETA: Just checked the FAQ, doesn't look like anything has changed. Plans can only be managed by the person who creates the profile. Other people can *see* that child's plans, but only the person who created the profile can make plans for that child. That's why I had to call.Capture5.JPG

That's weird. My husband can definitely make Genie plus reservations for our ticketed child....and select both kids for dining reservations.

ETA: When I look at my husband's MDE, the kids say plans managed by me, but I think that just means they don't have their own MDE. My mom and stepdad appear the same way. As does my husband's uncle who is managed by my husband's aunt.

I think your husband can manage your child because you're all the same family. My DIL could do things for their daughter even though her husband was the manager of their daughter. She could select her for dining reservations and G+ (once they were eligible). The other people you mentioned are probably all over 13 years old so it's not exactly the same situation.

I couldn't select my granddaughter for dining reservations until after IT did their thing. Two people who had the same issue as me said they thought everything would just fix itself once they were actually checked in and eligible to make Genie+. Nope. They both had to go to guest services to get it straightened out. I didn't want to take that chance so I took care of it ahead of time. If I could have selected her for dining reservations, I wouldn't have been as concerned.

Hi there OP here. Thank you all for your replies. I tried every different way from looking thru my account to logging into DD’s. There was no way to do link for making park reservations now that she’s ‘of age’ and has an AP.
I was always able to make dining reservations for DGD and didn’t need park reservations or G+ before age 3.

Soooo I finally gave up and called IT. It was quick and easy. I was able to use the IT call back feature and my call was returned within 10 minute. She fixed it within minutes and she had me test it by making APR for DGD. All set now.
Thanks again!!

I'm glad you got it straightened out. And bonus that the call back was so quick! I was pleasantly surprised when my wait time was only a few minutes when I called. Someone suggested calling at 7 a.m. on a Saturday and I thought they were nuts...figured I'd have a super long wait on a weekend. But they were right.
