Is there an easy way to avoid the toll roads from MCO to Walt Disney World?

(also posting on the budget board)

I would also say that avoiding paying a $10.00 toll and sitting at traffic lights for several miles is not very much fun on a long trip.

I would also pay the toll.

Is avoiding the toll road about $ or principals? Personally, I'd go for the toll road. In the scope of what you spend on a WDW trip, the tolls will be minuscule.

I've driven the non toll way taking friends to and from the airport. It's not a bad route, but it can be confusing if you aren't familiar with the area. I'd recommend sticking with either 417 or 528.

It's very simple to get to WDW from MCO. You will get a map from the rental car agency. Take the 528 to I-4. On 528 there are 2 tolls-the first one is $1.00 and the second one is 75 cents!

If you use the 417 toll road, it is $1.25 -2 tolls. they just raised the tolls on that road.

personally i love the 528. There are signs everywhere . you can even ask at the rental counter for quick directions but it's very easy to navigate Orlando and the resorts/parks area.

No way you want to go 192 the whole way with those red lights....it can take forever depending on the time of day!

I'm with the majority...pay tolls..much easier!

I would highly recommend 417 and paying the tolls. I do have to disagree with the PP who recommended 528 to I-4 - I-4 can have quite heavy traffic depending on the time of day. 417 never seems to have traffic at all.

If you get off at exit 6 (World Center Drive/SR 536) you'll only pay 2 tolls of $1.25 each. Both toll booths are staffed, so you don't have to have exact change. This route is clearly marked to get to Disney. If you continue to exit 3, you'll pay another 50 cent toll, but this booth is unstaffed and requires exact change.

We always get off at exit 6. But we also got a SunPass transponder, so we don't even have to stop for the toll booths anymore because on 417 they have the high-speed toll lanes where you don't go through the toll booth lanes. It's geeky and trivial, I know, but we were totally giddy the first time we blew past the toll gates thanks to the SunPass! :cool1:

Compromise. (That's an imperative sentence.)

North airport exit (436; Semoran) and left at first light (Frontage).
Little over one mile to next light (Conway), take two quick lefts to get onto 528 (Beach Line) west here.
At end bear left onto I-4 West (southwest). Disney exits including for Epcot and for Osceola Parkway will appear soon.

Back to airport take I-4 ramp to I-4 East (northeast).
Get off I-4 onto 528 east.
Get off 528 at its exit 9 (Tradeport).
Left and cross under, *, get into middle lane; you're facing north.
Required right onto McCoy (becomes Frontage Rd.)
Next light is Semoran Blvd. and airport is to the right.

One one dollar toll each way.

*Nice cheap gas station right here to top off at.
