MAYbe we should go back to Disney World-A May 2012 PTR;6/7 Link to TR-Post#592; p. 40

:banana:Dessert Party!!! Yum! I've never been but I've heard great things, can't wait to read about in your TR... if you are planning one.

MK all decked out for Halloween looks like such fun!!! And oh wow to the snake find... that would have completely freaked me out!.

Your son is so cute in those Mickey ears!!! The first ones are always so special!

Love the pictures of MK at Halloween. Reid is so cute in the pictures with the ears. How sweet that he takes them along on all your trips

We have a snake (Bob) that occasionally hangs out by our pool. Snakes don't really bother me. They can surprise me a bit when I am not expecting them, but they are not poisonous or really large around here.

When was this trip? We were there the end of September first of October in 2009. That is the trip we cut short one day because Dallas had gotten Swine flu :scared1:.

We went Labor Day week that year. Labor Day that year was Sept. 1. Looking back at a 2008 calendar, we arrived Sunday, August 31 and stayed until that Friday, Sept. 5.

:banana:Dessert Party!!! Yum! I've never been but I've heard great things, can't wait to read about in your TR... if you are planning one.

I do plan to do a TR, so I'll make sure to take lots of pictures of all the desserts. I've done for for our past three trips and really enjoy writing one. It's a way to keep the fun and excitement of your trip going for just a little longer. :)

Snake in the pool...that's never good:rotfl2:

Nope, never a good thing! I tell you, I may be a southern girl, raised where we see our fair share of snakes, but YUCK-I can't stand those things!

We have a snake (Bob) that occasionally hangs out by our pool. Snakes don't really bother me. They can surprise me a bit when I am not expecting them, but they are not poisonous or really large around here.

I don't like them at all! Last summer, I had gone out to take some trash to the can, and right there beside my cooling unit was a snake skin---about 2 feet long! :scared1: I ran inside, and then went back to take a picture with my phone. Well, while I was standing there, the AC unit kicked on, and I almost had a heart attack! :rotfl:

I just prayed all summer that the thing that had come out of that skin had crossed the street and gone into my neighbor's yard! ;)

So, you liked the dessert party? Details, please. You'll have to tell me all about it. Did you take any pictures and post in a previous TR?

I did really like it, it's nice to eat a much dessert as possible and then watch the fireworks! I did post about it in my November 2010 TR, there's a chapter link if you click on it in my signature, but it's not very detailed! But make sure you are hungry! I wanted to eat so much more, but I wasn't hungry enough, so I only had one plate! :rotfl:

Awww, Reid's first trip looks like it was a lot of fun! I wish I went to LTT when it was still a character meal. Ugh, a snake in the pool-scary! :scared1:

I clicked over to your Nov. 2010 TR and read about the party. I'm pretty excited about it! We are eating a late breakfast (brunch) at 'Ohana that morning, and will probably grab counter service for dinner around 5-6 p.m. So I'm hoping we'll all be ready to eat some desserts by 9.

So would you recommend that we just don't stand in a long line, since our table is already reserved?

This made me laugh! I would have gasped and done a crazy flailing thing....

and then I would have looked around to see if anyone saw me. :rotfl:

I don't know how in the world I missed that you started your pre-trip report. It's not like we aren't subscribed to a few of the same threads. :confused3 Anyway, thanks to your handy dandy chapter links, I'm all caught up.

Let me see if I can remember what I wanted to comment on. Congrats on getting a pin that would allow you to stay at the Polynesian since it's your favorite. :thumbsup2

Oh wait, I forgot to ask/comment on something. Are ya'll still unsure if you'll have to go 100 miles out of the way and pick up Elizabeth or is that a sure thing?

I've thought about booking the dessert party but we have dinner ADRs at Ohana one night and then at Crystal Palace on the other so I'm thinking it wouldn't be very cost effective for us. We've watched the fireworks and parade from that location many times (before the dessert party started) and it was a great place to watch.

I loved all of the pictures from previous trips. The kids have grown so much since those early trips. I don't remember Doug being at the Animal Kingdom but I do remember Stanley being there. We used to watch Doug Live! at Hollywood Studios though. Your picture of Tarzan Rocks reminded me how much I miss the show. We're not big fans of the new Nemo show.

Oh my gosh, is that snake thing common?!?!?!?!?!? I have such a phobia about them. I almost had a panic attack in a 'pets at home' here that we went in because we were looking around and I saw a big sign saying reptiles and I was terrified there would be some there! It didn't help that we were near the fish at the time as I don't really like them either!

Your kids are so cute in those photos.

 Well, I'm always pretty sure that my single man neighbor is always working during the day! I actually did laugh at myself when I realized that it was just the AC.

Oh my gosh, is that snake thing common?!?!?!?!?!? .

I'm not sure, but it is Florida, and we do have snakes out when it's warm weather. They do have to drink water, so they'll go anywhere to get something to drink.

Well, I'm glad you're here now! :thumbsup2

I'm pretty (99%) sure that we'll be taking a detour through Orange Beach to grab Elizabeth on our way down that Saturday. I don't have all the details worked out yet, but we'll get it figured out before then.

STANLEY! You're so right! I don't know why I got Doug in my head---He wasn't even a Disney character was he? I think he was on Nick! :rotfl: I'm going back to edit that post right now! Thanks for having a better memory than me!

I followed you over from your reply to one of my posts in mickeystoontown's pre-trip report! I read all 15 pages and I have enjoyed it so much!! We are also staying at the poly!! I am also a teacher - 5th grade! We live in North Mississippi - so we are practically neighbors!! Did you request a certain longhouse for this trip? We are still unsure of what we should request or just leave it up to the "tiki gods" ha ha....Can't wait to hear more from your pre-trip report!!

HI! Glad you're here. :)

I taught 5th grade the first year I taught.....several years ago. Now I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math. It's a small school, so there are just two sections of each grade.

My DH is from north Mississippi, and we actually lived there after we first married, and then several years later we wound up there again.

I did request a longhouse for this trip. Both times we've stayed at the Poly, I requested, and got, Tokelau. :thumbsup2 This time I thought I'd try a different spot, so I requested Samoa. We'll see how it works out.

Is this your first time at the Poly? Never mind---Editing because I just noticed your ticker says it's your first Poly stay! You'll love it!

Stanley AND Doug were at Disney so you weren't totally wrong. Doug Live was a show at Hollywood Studios. It used to be one of our favorites.

I hope y'all enjoy the dessert party! I think it would be right up my alley -- all the sweets you can eat AND a prime viewing spot for Wishes!

If I knew Andrew could handle a late night, I'd totally book it.

Hi Michelle! I'm so glad I found your PTR. How exciting that your staying at the Poly! We had a hard time deciding this trip between that and the BC. Can't wait to read more!

So, I'm trying to figure this out....Was Doug a Disney character? :confused3 He must have been there before our trips began!

I hope we enjoy it too! It's a total surprise for my family---They don't even know there is such a thing! :) I'll be sure to let y'all know what I think about it!

Hi Alicia! Good to "see" you again around here! :) We originally had the Beach Club booked with the spring resort code, but when I got the PIN that included the Poly, I had to change. Have you stayed at the BC before? If not, you'll love it! We really did enjoy it and Yacht Club the times we stayed there. :thumbsup2

Looking at your ticker---Are we going to be in the World around the same time again?

This will be our first time staying at the Beach Club and we're are reallly excited!

We'll be there from May 25th-June 1st so we'll be there at the same time as you and your family. :woohoo:

Oh, you'll really like the Beach Club. We stayed there during our last trip in May 2010. We had stayed at Yacht Club during Elizabeth's 16th birthday trip the previous NYE. It's so easy and nice to walk over to Epcot, and the boat ride to DHS was nice too. Even the bus ride to MK or AK didn't take that long. I think it's a very centrally located resort. Plus the pool is amazing-Your kids are never going to want to get out! :thumbsup2

YAY for being there at the same time! I think Lisa (mickeystoontown) willl be there around the same time as well!

Came over from my PTR and have caught up on yours! I see you're a fellow Southern gal! ;)

I'm hoping DH and I will take our girls back to WDW next year... and I'm reeeaaallly hoping we stay at the Poly! We have yet to stay at a Deluxe.

I hope you get to do the Wishes Dessert Party! I went on my trip last September... it was a "Girls Only" trip and we surprised my mom with the Dessert Party for her birthday! It was so nice to have a place to sit and watch the fireworks, especially since it had rained about an hour before we checked in to the party. And there was a wide variety of desserts and plenty of them. If you want, you can read my review of the Dessert Party:
