This is a vent, please be warned beforehand!!!

DH and I are leaving on our first vacation without the kids in 4.5 years tomorrow. My parents actually are flying in this afternon too watch the kids. Well, on Monday, my DD7 can home from school complaining about some itching. It turns of she has pinworms :sad2: --yuck!!!! So I go get medicine for the whole family. We take it, no big deal. We wake up yesterday to DS 5 with the runs!! He then later throws up. DS 20 months throws up as well. The twins (3 year olds) have really runny noses. Then, I pick up DD7 from school, and she has a 104.5 degree fever and cold. I, then, start feeling achy and have a stomach ache. I wake up at 1 am with a pretty good headache. At 3 am I get up again to discover an unexpected "guest" is going to be joining DH and I on our "romantic" get away. I just took some asprin, and I an starting to feel better. DD still has a 103 degree fever. The two DS's who were throwing up are acting normal. The twins still have the yucky noses.

Do you think some one is telling us not to go . . . :guilty:

Did you get cancellation insurance? Can you postpone your trip? I might do that seeing as all your kids seem to not be feeling well. I'm sorry, that's a big bummer.

No, it's just one of those things that ALWAYS seems to happen when you're just trying to have some fun.

When my DS was 6 months old, we went on a Disney trip with my DD (then 4). DS stayed with my mom (who was living with us at the time anyway). Of course, DS got so sick while we were gone (fever, ear infection, the works) and my mom had to deal with it all. Just figures, you know?

Nah, sounds like you're getting everything out of the way BEFORE you leave. The kids will be ok with your parents. Better this all happened now than when you were away. You'd hear about this from your parents and they'd either want you to come home or you'd feel compelled to cut the vacation short and go home. Go and have a great time. Sounds like you need a relaxing getaway!

No, we do not have trip insurance.

My parent's are already on their plane to get here. I am sure that they can manage sick kids--I really hope that they are all going to be better by the morning!! :wizard:

:sunny: Thank you for the kind responses!! :sunny:

I need to go and remake all the beds and get the upstairs cleaned. It is going to be a busy day!! I have not even thought of packing and DH is going to be getting home from his business trip at 9 pm with a bag full of clothes that need to be washed and packed to go with us in the morning.

Thank you once again--I think I just needed some encouragement and motivation!!

Go Mom, GO.

Your parents will be fine. Your kids will be fine. And you will have a wonderful time.

And I do think this is some sort of rite of passage for parents and kids. My brother and I got sick every time my parents tried to go somewhere.

I hope you have a good trip!! I think everything will be okay. I had pinworms when I was in 4th grade and my family already had a trip planned to New Hampshire and we all went anyhow. We actually stayed with friends at one point. No one really minded, I was on meds and we brought Lysol with us everywhere :) I hope your DD is feeling okay, because I remember not feeling too great in the beginning of it.

No, it sounds to me like you REALLY need this vacation. Your folks can handle it, heck they'll probably tell you that you sure deserve it!

Have a nice beverage tonight and go enjoy your trip!

Oh, Amy - you NEED this vacation! Nothing is trying to tell you "something"! Parents need vacations from their kids. Better that they were sick before you leave. Your parents will be able to take care of them. Go and have a relaxing time.

I'm sure this a sign that is shoving you out the door to WDW....GO for you own sanity

I had this running joke with our old dr that I should just schedule a dr's appointment every time we went out of town because someone ALWAYS got sick. It got to the point where she would walk into the exam room asking where we were going this time!

Go, have fun, don't worry about the kids.

Thanks again everyone!!!

On a sad note, we are not going to WDW . . . Our trip is to Colorado to go skiing!!! :teeth:

I just talked with my sister. She had quite a laugh whan I told here everything that was happening, then dropped the phone when I told her about my "visitor" last night!! She was laughing so hard. Both of us have this type of luck. She told me that it is not just us, but it happens more often than just to us!! She put my sad mood into a giddy mood. :cool1:

The house is now clean, the kids are eating lunch and we are leaving to get nana and pops in an hour. I think I need to eat some crackers and take a hot shower. That should get rid of the queasy stomache!! ;)

Thanks for all of the kind words...you do not know how much I needed them today!!

It just shows that you really deserve to get away!!! Enjoy your time away.
