maybe a transportation question?

I meant to post this on the board a while ago. We got back from a great trip at BCV in June. Everything was teriffic. We loved SAB and really just enjoyed the location tremendously. Our room was a corner room facing spaceship earth. Couldn't have asked for anything better. In fact, I did ask for an Epcot view and was told I wouldn't be able to get one. It was a great surprise.

Anyway, the purpose of the post...

Anyone else have a teribble time with the transportation between BCV and DTD at night?

We go to DTD every night and even though BCV is close to everything else, it isn't convenient for DTD at night. We waited 30-45 minutes for a bus every night, and when one finally came around, it was often full. Lines of 60-80 people would accumulate before the bus came. And then only about 20 would fit on and you'd have to keep waiting. We waited about an 1 hour on a couple of nights. I think there was probably only one bus serving BCV/BC, YC, BWV/BW, BW, Swan, and Dolphin. I don't understand why all these resorts have the worst DTD transportation. Do they assume that most people drive from the deluxe resorts?

I couldn't believe it. This was pretty much consistently bad every night. And the final night, to top it all off, the driver didn't speak English well and didn't even stop at BC. We told him it was supposed to be on the route, and he said it wasn't. It was after midnight at we had to walk from the Swan/Dolphin back to BC. Now granted you walk all the time at Disney, and all things considered, it is only about 15 minute walk.

But at night, with kids when it's dark and your exhausted?

Of course, I told management about it. They never got back to me. I wrote a letter, too. Never heard.

This was by far the worst experience I could ever report. Usually I'm all positive.
Oh, well. I really hope they improve this. It was truly appalling.

We had totally rotten experiences with the "new" bus system in May/June. They have this new system where..as the driver enters a resort, he radios a dispatcher who tells him where to go next. So he changes his sign and drops his load...then goes wherever. We waited 45 minutes for a bus to a particular place (not the same place each time it happened), and twice had 7 busses go by before we got the one we were waiting for. Yes, we noticed an increase in the number of drivers who did not speak understandable English.

In one case, my teenaged daughter approached the driver of the 7th bus to come to our stop and asked him if he could report the need for a bus to MGM. He basically called her a liar and said that there was "NO WAY" we could have been waiting for 45 minutes because a bus came at least every 20 minutes. Sorry...he was wrong.

In my opinion, the new system needs some major work.

While many really like the close proximity to MGM and Epcot when staying at BCV and BWV, the bus service to other destinations is completely sub-standard. Staying at BWV, it took us just shy of an hour to get to the Magic Kingdom. We didn't have trouble getting ON a bus...but once we did it still took over 30 minutes to make the rounds to the Dolphin and Swan, and ultimately arrive at MK.

Going to Typhoon Lagoon and DTD can be even worse. Try this sometime: Boardwalk--Swan--Dolphin--DTD Marketplace--DTD PI--Typhoon Lagoon. Ugh!

They must feel that since Epcot and MGM are so close, they can get away with poor bus service elsewhere. As someone who typically visits the parks evenly during a stay, we didn't feel that we saved ANY significant time when compared to our SSR stay which was totally reliant upon our car and Disney busses.

Keep bugging DVC and the resorts about the problem. That's the only way to get it changed. As I understand it, it wasn't that long ago that busses were shared between the Boardwalk, Yacht, Beach, Swan AND Dolphin. At least some progress has been made.

Please -please don't let them off the hook on this...call or write to DVC member services...and copy a letter to the manager of the Beach Club...this is unacceptable and was supposed to have been addressed with the new changes....sad to say it looks like we will have a car..I won'tItolerate service that bad--not when I am paying for a deluxe resort experience.
