I have used easyjet many times as they so cheap to get around Europe, however they are so strict about extra weight even if you go one kilo over they are really expensive, you are better off paying extra weight when you book.

joanne

Agreed, Easyjet (along with ryanair and bmibaby) really know how to rack up the "extras" for things like luggage.

We calculated the prices out for us to fly from East Midlands airport in UK to Barcelona and found with all the extra luggage costs, seat selection charges, airport bag-dropoff etcetc, it ended up cheaper for us to book on BA out of Heathrow and pay the extra diesel and more expensive airport parking.

On ryanair it ended up being about £300 more expensive than BA because of the ridiculous baggage charges. (we calculated it based on the luggage weights we took on our 2009 DCL cruise - we figured we'd need similar amounts of clothing)

I'm heading off to London after we get off the ship on the 26th and I found a pretty cheap 1 way ticket to LHR with Britsh Airlines that I am taking at 1:50. With luggage and everything its about the same price as Easyjet was for me.

Hello all! I am new to the the Dis Boards, but thought I would make a profile because my mom is always talking about it!! My mom is ICollectBelle, Dad is AppleGuy, Sister is PixieDust519, and brother is Bubby627.

I am so excited for the Mediterranean cruise! It really is getting close... I remember almost a year ago when we booked and it seemed like it would never come!
:yay:

So glad you could join in! Now I won't have to tell you about these boards. You can read for yourself.:)

Hey--its Apple Guy, Im back! :yay:

The Easy Jet flight leaves out of Barcelona the afternoon of our return. I booked it for about 290 Euros which includes a package with a luggage allowance of 106 kg ( I think thats about 230 US lbs), a first to board pass, and that is for 5 people. US dollars was about $425.00. That flight has gone up now, I think about 8 Euros more per person

As my daughter-Pixie Dust-- stated, we are staying 4 nights in Paris at a Holiday Inn Express with Points I have accumulated with business travel. Its hard to find rooms that sleep more than 3 so we booked 2 rooms. Its called the Canal de la Villette, away from center city but real close to the subway.

We have only booked a few Disney excursions, but all 3 stops in Italy we have booked with Claudio and Limoinrome

Many of you have discussed getting together on the ship--great idea since we all feel like we know each other from the many postings on this board. I still like the Diversions idea on 3rd deck--great lounge, plenty of room, if Rudolfo is there-he is a great host. Appetizers are included--like we'll really need some extra food!

Look forward to meeting all of you

We are on that flight as well...we booked a while back and got a pretty good deal and prepaid for luggage, so I think we're set. I'll have to check out using points and getting two rooms in Paris... BTW, Jason, my husband works for Apple, so seems like you'll have something in common :).

Im confused about how many posts I need for people to be able to PM me. I just joined the board so Im a relative newbie. I seemed to be addicted to this board so I check it regularly now so you can put it here if you would like. Im game for diving if he is. My wife will not likely dive the cold waters but I would love to do it just to say "I dove in the med". Just let me know the plans as they evolve. I am actually going to a meeting and then on a spring break cruise with the kids on royal caribbean in mid march from march 4th through the 23 so if you post it then I may miss it. Im actually diving in puerto rico for 3 days in the middle of this trip. Love to be underwater.

Yeah, it was me who didn't have enough posts....I'm working on it!! I will get him to contact you; he's just got to stop working so darn much...this vaca can not come fast enough!

I'm AppleGuy and ICollectBelle's daughter so I can help answer this question too... We ended up booking an EasyJet flight from Barcelona to Paris that leaves at 4pm on the 26th.

Thanks Pixiedust; I saw your Dad's post. I will have to look into using points, but I used most of my Amex points for the flights over... Looks like we'll be seeing you on the flight!

Jill

We live in the Northland right off Hwy 169--been here for about 4 years.:cool1:

Hilari

Your husband Jason and I may or may not have as much in common as you think. He works for Apple computers--I sell apples-but the red delicious, gala, and granny smith kind. I am in the fresh produce business working for a wholesale distributor, although I do own an Apple computer and love it!!

(If you know anyone that wants to buy a nice house in Raymore let me know! lol)

My wife and I just booked this cruise as a graduation present for me! We both love to travel and have longed to make it to the Med/Europe since being married. We are very excited!!

We are looking forward to the trip and are looking for people who'd like to share/split tours with us in Italy. If anyone is looking for a couple to add into their tour, please let us know!!

Thank you!

Kevin and Jamie

We still have room on the Naples and La Spezia tours for up to 4.

NAPLES
The ruins of Pompeii, part of an ancient Roman city destroyed and buried by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

Herculaneum is an ancient residential town of Greek origins, destroyed and buried in ashes, together with Pompeii, by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D. that also offers a variety of beautiful scenery and invaluable arts.

View the crater of Vesuvius, 1281 meters above sea level, by walking for approximately 45 minutes up the steep mount, as the road for vehicles terminates half way up this climb.

La Spezia
Piazzale Michelangelo, to admire one of the most superb views of the city. The Monuments to Michelangelo (1875) the statue of David, the Accademia’s Gallery.

Piazza del Duomo: the Baptistery, the Giotto Bell Tower, built in 14th century; and the Duomo which is one of the world’s largest Cathedrals.

The Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), church of Santa Croce (13th century, Gothic), containing the tombs of Michelangelo, Galilei, Alfieri, Machiavelli, Foscolo and other great men. Take lunch in a fine local restaurant and, depending on time, experience the shopping malls of Florence in leisurely time.

The town of Pisa. The Leaning Tower, the "Field of Miracles", the cathedral, the “Campo Santo” cemetery, the Baptistery, and the cathedral museum.

The tours are through

My wife and I just booked this cruise and would be very interesting in sharing tours.

Can you provide me with more infomation on what times and costs you are evaluating for these excursions? If you prefer, to keep this info private, you can reply via email to Kevinpickett @ hotmail . com

Thank you!

In case my other post doesn't reach back to you.... (we are new to DisBoards....) My wife and I just booked this cruise and are really intersted in splitting some private tours. Can you send me more information on the times you have reserved and the projected price per person? In case you'd rather not put that into the forums, you can send it to kevinpickett @ hotmail.com (sorry for the weird spacing....).

Thank you!

Hello Apple Guy! We booked our Italy excursions through Claudio as well. His company comes highly recommended from everyone I know that has taken European tours through Italy. My TA uses him exclusively and all comments have been beyond stellar. Never been to Italy myself so this is all second hand. We are doing Pompeii and almalfi, Rome, and Piza/Florence.

Hi Kevin & Jamie,
My wife & I are also looking to join others to split tour costs. We are interested in all of the Italian and the Villafranche ports of call. I see there are 4 slots available for some of the ports.
My e mail buckndoe @ verizon.net.

I have a question about booking excursions through the website.
When I go online to book (Sunday night a midnight! Wahoo!!) am I able to book enough spots for an excursion for my entire party or just those in my room? Maybe it will make more sense once I book it. Also, am I booking for specific people or just booking a number of spots?

First of all, a heads up. If you're logged in prior to midnight you won't be able to book anything after midnight UNLESS you first log off and then log back on. I learned this the hard way back on 2/14.

You will be able to book the excursion for everyone that is in your "travel party", i.e., your specific reservation and any other reservations linked to your reservation. In our case for example, we have two reservations - one for each stateroom - that are linked for my family, which is a travel party of 4. When I log on for either reservation, I can book dining, excursions, spa treatments for any one, 2, 3 or 4 of us. Yes, you are booking for specific people in your travel party...their names show up in a drop down box and you select who you're booking for.

So, you can only book for those in your room unless other rooms were booked as a single travel party.

How many formal nights are there on the 11 night cruises?

I'm trying to decide whether it's worthwhile packing my Kilt for the formal nights.
