hi everyone, we just booked the 11 day on may 15th. This is our fourth disney cruise. My wife and I along with six other friends are going!!!! One of the things we are celebrating is our first wedding anniversary (its on May 30th, i think this is close enough!!) We have two state rooms and the late dinner seating. Also, we are totally in for the FE'S!!! this is our group:

both state rooms GTY...
Jon
Sam
Bryan
Emily
Lukas
Corinne
Luke-child
Lucy-Child

Again, super excited. All the other disney cruises we have done have been four days on the wonder, so this will be a completely new experience! If anyone who went back in 07 has any advice that hasn't been given yet that would be great, thanks so much.
Jon

Wow! There's so many Dis'ers that are on the cruise. Yet, they've still got cat12 GTY's. Does anyone know how full the ship is?

My husband and I are also taking this trip with the ABD add-on. I know I'm showing my newbieness but what is FE and what are secret portholes?

Aloha everyone,

This will be different than most excursion sharing posts but if you are still deciding what you want to do in Malta give this a read.

I have been spending way to much time researching the port of Malta. The excursions look fine by Disney but being from Hawaii my instinct when I see tour buses arriving is to run away in the opposite direction.

Also with the two older children they see bus and think field trip to Pearl Harbor and again they want to run away.

I am thinking of planning like an Amazing Race type day for those that watch that show. If anyone else is interested in something like that let me know.

First the bus system is manageable and not to costly $5 for the day. Not sure of all the places we would go but possibilities are the fishing village, the craft village, Mdina.

Some of the activities would be watersports at one of the bays there are several with jet skis ($$$$) and less expensive things like small power boats and paddle boats, canoes, banana boat rides etc. Still waiting on the cost of the power boat treasure hunt. One company does team building exercises for up to 35 power boats 6 people per boat max. May cost way to much but the kids are lobbying hard for that one.

Some of these resort areas have lawn bowling facilities which might allow for some competive bocci ball.

Other activities would be the quad bikes at Popeye village. (1 hr ride)

Shopping possibility would be the Bay Street tourist center.

We would try to schedule it so that we would be back in Valetta early enough so that everyone can walk that town if they so desire.

Sorry no $250,000 for winning but it might be fun.

I know most are interested in seeing as much as possible and using public transportation will definately reduce the number of things we can do but for a family of four it will leave some money for future stops.

Let me know if you are interested and the types of things you would most like to see and do.

Dwight

Hello all, I was originally booked on the26th cruise but we just changed our dates. We are so excited! We are three, me, my husband and 7 yo son. We currently live in Stuttgart Germany. Looking forward to catching up on the thread.

Has anyone received the cruise information packet that Disney sends out before Palo, shore excursion and spa reservations open? We'd be able to book next week and would like to see the shore excursions offered by Disney without having to go to the Disney web site. Don't we ususally get the packet BEFORE our reservation window open?

Connie,

I am not sure what you are asking but you can see the shore excursions offered on the Disney Cruise line web site without having a reservation number. Just click on Cruise & Destinations at the top. Then select port adventures from the drop down menu. It might have exactly what is on this cruise but should give you a good idea with pricing.

Hi all!! I have just joined this site and so not quite sure what all the abbrev and codes mean so bare with me!! We are going on this cruise and can't wait. It will be me Natalie (33) my husband Mark (34) OUr daughter Abbie (8) and son Samuel (6). Any hints or tips would be greatly recieved!!:goodvibes

No packet here, though my recollection is that those came closer to the cruise...like within 30 days or so.

Welsh Girl,

Welcome!

Some commonly used acronyms:

GTY - Guaranteed Room (Room Not Assigned)

FE - Fish Extenders - Things that hang on your fish clip outside your room. Disney uses these to leave you notes. Some cruise guests use them to hang bags on so they can exchange small gifts throughout the cruise.

DCL - Disney Cruise Line

DH, DD, DS, DW, DMIL, DFIL, etc - Dear Husband, Dear Daughter, Dear Son, Dear Wife, Dear Mother-in-Law, Dear Father-in-Law (you get the idea)

SR - State Room

If you have any questions, just post them up.

Was skimming the threads of some of our "sister" 10-11 night Med cruises and found this link to a website where some one has taken the time to collect a lot of good information and links. It's called WorldofMouse.

Welcome to all the new cruisers.

I've been having a fun but seriously exhausting week away on business. Some posh dinners and late nights, soooo glad its the weekend though so i can catch up on some sleep. And watch some serious amounts of sport (big six nations rugby tournament starts here in the uk this weekend, and i'm tempted to stay up to watch the Colts in the superbowl on sunday night - it doesn't start until about 11pm here).

Welsh girl - I'm from Swansea (and my parents/sister still live there). Which part you from? I'm from Killay (ex-Olchfa school).

In case it is of any use to anyone i have a word document with details of most of the DCL shore excursionsfor this med cruise. I find the DCL website a bit cumbersome when looking at the excursions so created the document to enable me to read about the excursions away from the computer.

The document has details of what the excursion is about, duration, adult cost. They are grouped by port.

The document does not include child costs, the special children -friendly excursions, or the expensive "signature" excursions. I made the document for my personal use so only contains the info i wanted to see.

It might be useful to someone else so if anyone would like a copy send me a PM and i'll provide details by return PM as soon as i can (i'm having a busy few weeks so bear with me if it takes a few days to reply).

We went ahead and booked the airfare on Thursday - $727pp. Possibly could have gotten a better rate but the roller coaster pricing was stressing me out(it's up to $990 today) plus the arrival/departure times are perfect. Also, each flight doesn't have excessive layovers and we're not switching airlines.
All the basics are now done and paid for. Also, I'm putting $200 in our onboard account every two weeks. One more week until I can book Palo, etc...
May can't come soon enough!!!

Where are you traveling to/from and what airline are you using? We still need to book air yet. The roller coaster pricing is starting to get to me and I still keep holding out. Also how are you putting money on your onboard account? Do you call or is there a way to do it online?:)

I'm sorry if I have not replied to any PM, I guess I'm not allowed yet since I don't have 10 posts yet. I apologize.
