May/June 2021 rental rates

I have a full-size booked for June 17 - July 2 at $634 with Alamo at MCO. If I flew in a day early would I be able to still pick up the car with that rate and just get charged an extra day? Other option I guess would be to spend the night at a hotel near airport and pickup the next day. Open to suggestions. Thank you!

Looking for a rental for 5/30-6/8. Ten days is longer than I have rented before, but still the rates don't make any sense. $615 through Costco for a midsize??? That seems insane. I knew I would pay more than I normally do (I generally get a full size for 7-8 days this same time of year for $200-$250), but not this much. If the rates don't come down considerably, this may be the first time I don't rent a car. I'm pretty sure I could Uber multiple times a day and still be well under those fees. Yikes!

In 2019 I paid 250.00 with Alamo for an 11 day rental (mdisize). Right now I am at $477.00 for the same time frame with 12 days. I check everyday for lower rates...it is now $522 and not much hope of it going lower.

Is your rate through Costco?

Yeah that $477 might be the best you can do. I'm sitting at $620 right now for what cost me $360 in 2019. :(

I was having no luck until I purchased my park tickets from ****************** last night and it gave me a link for 50% off for car rental. I ended up with an Intermediate car May 1-May 8 from Budget at MCO for $180. The best I had before that was $335 but it was from one of the Disney Springs area hotels.
I'm glad I saw your post. We are doing Universal for 2 days during out May/June trip for the 1st time. I was going to wait to purchase tickets, but after reading your post, I just purchased them through that discount ticket broker. I was able to get a standard car from budget through that ticket broker as well. Rental from 5/30-6/8 (10 days) for $273. The downside is I had to pre-pay but it is fully refundable if I cancel. I doubt the $615 I'm currently being quoted through Costco will get anywhere near the price I just paid but I will keep checking anyway. I prefer Alamo to Budget but I've used Budget the last 2 trips because they have been considerably cheaper. Glad I have something reasonable booked now.

We are sitting at $535 for 5/9 to 5/21 on Alamo Exonomy Car through Costco. I checked again today and the cheapest through Costco was Avis at $550 so it looks to be climbing. I tried Alamo with the AP rate and it shot up to $691!

totally insane!

5/23 - 5/30 here. I booked $386 through Alamo and thought it was insane, but I just looked again and the SAME reservation is now $510.00.

I just checked Costco today and the price had jumped $100 to $635! It is starting to skyrocket.

Has anyone ever bought like a movie ticket or something through Undercover Tourist just so you could get the 50% off code for a rental car? I recently noticed you could do this and i have never needed anything like this because Alamo has always been reasonable until now. I'm wondering how hard it is to modify, or if he discount you get is a one and done kind of thing? Thanks!

Just had a weird experience booking through Alamo. I plan to pick up at the airport and drop off at the car care center a few days before we leave. For some reason, if I'm not logged in to my Alamo account, the minivan, premium, luxury, and standard SUVs all price out at $750. I save $75 using the Disney Passholder discount, and the total comes to $838 and change. Weirdly, when I log in to my Alamo account, the prices jump (the premium SUV is suddenly $1346 for the week). Also, the option for adding a different drop off location doesn't work - I can initially select a different drop off, but selecting a location makes the pick up location default to the same place. If I log back out and start over, I get the $838 price. Not sure what that glitch is, but I'll take it. After I made the reservation, the site recognized my email and linked the reservation to my alamo account. Not sure if this helps anyone, but I thought I'd put it out there.

Otherwise, the cheapest price I found by far was through Avis.

I’ve experienced that as well. I never enter my account info while checking for prices anymore for exactly that reason.

I booked Alamo a few weeks ago for a mid size SUV for about $550. I’ve been checking everyday but the prices are insane right now. Up over $200 right now. :crazy2:

Oh no, I wanted a rental from Car Care Center for just one day to go to Cocoa Beach area mid-May. Been reading about shortages so thought I better get on it. There is nothing available for 5/12-5/13. :scared:

I’m in panic mode. I keep checking prices. Have a rental pick up car center on Memorial Day. No all of sudden you can’t rent that day. They assure me they are open but the day is literally grayed out on all the websites. I’m going to be livid if this comes up true I have a minivan Monday to Sunday for 355!

I have a somewhat different concern. My booking for mid-May via UCT is a very good rate for one week from Avis. But, I wonder if they still might say at the counter sorry, we do see your booking in the system but unfortunately all our cars are already gone. If an airline does this, some form of compensation is required under complicated rules, but what happens when a car rental place pulls this? Has anyone seen or experienced this situation?
