May be a stupid question...but...Dining plan?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, sounds like a stupid question, or other assorted 'DUH'-inducing things...but I have to ask...

I'm checking out the menus on the 'dining' page and I'm unclear what it means when it says "Disney Dining Experience 20% Discount excluding Holidays".
It SOUNDS to me like they're saying you get 20% off at this restaurant when you're on the dining plan...but if it's a restaurant that's ON the dining plan I thought it meant you didn't take any $ OOP.

Sssoooo....anyone care to help me by explaining it. Be sure to go s-l-o-w-l-y...I'm a little tired today

The Disney Dining Experience is not the same thing as the dining plan. It's a card that AP holders can buy to get dining discounts.

Disney Dining Experience and the Disney dining plan are two different things. With the dining plan, you purchase the plan and receive meal "credits" for lack of a better word, and you don't pay for those meals out of pocket. If you purchase the dining plan and one of the days during your stay is a holiday, the plan is still good - you would not have to pay for your meals that day.

The Disney Dining Experience is a discount card that can be purchased by AP holders (and I believe FL residents). Using this card, you can receive a discount on meals that you pay for at restaurants at the parks and resorts. There are "blackout" days on the DDE card - most major holidays and holiday eves, such as Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. On those dates, the discount card cannot be used.
