Hi Doreen,
I'd love to walk with you all on May 8 if you don't mind having a Disney Grannie along. I should be able to keep up, at least for the first few miles. I did do the Alzheimer's Walk in Fairmount Park this past October and had no problem since it was a "walk at your own pace" too. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in person this time since I wasn't able to make the last Doylestown walk. I did enjoy the photos, though.

By the way, there are quite a number of hotels, inns, and b & b's right in Doylestown itself. A few are: Court House Motor Inn, 625 N. Main St. , 215-348-9222; 1814 House Inn, 50 S. Main St., 215-340-1814, and the Doylestown Inn, 18 W State St, 215-345-6610. You can check them out online if you'd like. I just did a search of Doylestown PA hotels. I do live in the area and remember seeing the Doylestown Inn. I think it's a very old building that's been rehabbed (sp?) lately. If I remember correctly, it's not far from the Starbucks. If you're looking for a chain hotel, I guess staying along the turnpike would be fine. There is plenty of parking in Doylestown...on street and in lots, if I remember correctly. You could also check out Warrington, PA. It's a little south of Doylestown. Also, Fort Washington is right at the turnpike exit and has a lot of chain hotels.

The full walk is 6.2 miles, but if you don't want to walk that far we'll pass close to the starting point at about the 3 - 3.5 mile area. I'm guessing we'll finish the full walk in about 2.5 - 3 hours.

There's a Ruby Tuesdays restaurant within 10-15 minutes if we all decide we're hungry after the walk. I've been wanting to try their low-carb offerings!

I am bummed becaue I am out of the walk, again. We are going to Hershey to help DH's parents move into their new retirement community. For some reason I though it was a different weekend. Oh, well, carrying boxes up and down stairs will be good for me, too. . . . .

I just posted an invitation on the Community Board and the DIS Meet board - just in case any other DISers want to join us. Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.

It looks like there MIGHT be a DIS meet brewing for the Valley Forge / King of Prussia area on July 24th, so you may want to mark your calendars!

I just checked the forecast and it says "light rain".

I guess we have 3 options:
1) Walk in the rain - not my favorite thing to do.
2) Find a place to walk indoors. King of Prussia mall comes to mind but is there a closer mall to Doylestown where we could at least do a little walking?
3) Cancel the walk altogether. Erin & I chose this date because it was the only day we could get together during May and June so rescheduling isn't an option for us, but maybe others could find a date & get together, if they want to.

What does everyone think?

I sure hope it DOESN'T rain. Maybe the forecast will change. If not, I don't like walking in the rain. But the area malls on rainy afternoons are so packed and the congestion around the malls is unbelievable!

Closer malls to consider would be the Montgomery Mall (off Rte 309 a bit South of Doylestown) or the Oxford Valley Mall (Bucks County next to Sesame Place). But like I said, the area is congested.

It's a shame there's not a rain date. But with the weather we've been having in April and so far in May, it's so hard to plan ahead.

I forgot about another option - skip the walk entirely & just meet up at Ruby Tuesdays for a meal and some good company! I'll be happy to do that!

Anyone know where the closest Ruby Tuesdays is? I think we've passed one when we left Doylestown going north on 611 and then made a left onto whatever road it is that takes you to the PA Turnpike or am I imagining that? I'll have to do a bit of web research!

Easton road is Rte 611. Its in the shopping center where the Regal Cinemas are. I think there is an IHOP there too. Its before you get to County Line Road (the WIllow Grove Naval Station is immediately after County Line Road- Thats where my DH works)

Edited to add, this is on the way from Doylestown - going down 611 towards the Willow Grove entrance to the PA turnpike.


I really want to go with you guys. My daughter does NOT want to walk, and unfortunately since I made plans with her and it is Mothers Day I would not cancel. She says she wants to go with DH and DS to take my MIL out to Dinner on Saturday. If it does rain and you guys don't go. Maybe I could talk her into taking her to Ruby Tuesdays and going to the Movies.

Is it supposed to rain on Saturday? What time were you all planning on doing Ruby Tuesdays?

OK, scratch.............I just read Doreens post from the page prior and I see her options now.

there is 3 story mall in Willow Grove, right off the PA turnpike, you would go the opposite way that you were going to go to Doylestown.

There is a TGI Fridays in that mall, or it is not too far from the Ruby Tuesdays.

Ok - weather.com now says that it's supposed to be isolated thunderstorms tomorrow, but they show them starting around 4pm. Are we still on? Do we maybe want to start earlier?

Let's meet at Starbucks at 1 PM. Halfway through the walk, we'll pass by that area again so we can decide if it looks bad enough to quit early or if we want to keep going.

Afterward, we'll head to Ruby Tuesday's for a late lunch / early dinner. All who want to come along are welcome!!
