May 8th 2008 cruise

Ok CastawayJP, or anyone else that would know for sure. As you may know, I booked Category 12 and am staying in an 11 (so no windows). Is it really that bad? This will be my first cruise. I was hoping to book at least a porthole window or even a navigator's verandah before, but since I'm in the Southwest employment pool I could be called at any time should a position open. Due to this I didn't need to lose any more money than possible should this occur. That's why I stuck with the 12.

So, input anyone? Thanks!!!! :goodvibes

We have been in Cat 11's twice before and a cat 9 once. The porthole is nice, but we don't need it. On a 3 or 4 day cruise you basically only sleep in your room so it isn't a big deal. I guess the one disadvantage is there is no split bathroom in cat 11 or 12 but we don't really care about that either.

When we finally do a 7 night cruise we will have to go cat 4 with the new addition to the family!

Great reason to "move on up"! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the input. I'm not at all worried about the bathroom. My mom isn't one who takes long and well, my dd still has a few years (hopefully!) before she will, so that's definitely not a biggie. As long as I have a toilet, sink and shower, I'm on top of the world!

Congrats JP. Little boys are so special.

mdhkitten - haveing never stayed in a windowless room, I cna't opine. But you may be able to upgrade at port if room's are available. Just throwing that thought out there.

I feel like I still have so much to do before we go and only really two weekends. Because Passover is this weekend, won't be able to get much done.

Anyway, will keep on trucking.

Thanks Fredms! I'll have to check into that. I hear ya about Passover. My little girl's dad celebrates it (I'm not Jewish), so he's been busy cleaning his kitchen, getting rid of non-kosher food, etc. Sounds like a blast! ;)

We received our docs yesterday also! I came home from work and there they were, just laying on the front steps, UPS didn't even place them inside the door. Oh well, I was very happy to receive them no matter what. Dh and I needed a little vacation excitement! I returned to work last week after a 4 month medical leave, and I'm so looking forward to escaping from the real world.

We got the suitcases out of the attic, so its time to start packing the vacation clothes. That also makes it seem more real!

They did the same thing with mine! LOL

I keep looking at the suitcases :rolleyes1 , wondering when I can start packing without all of our clothes looking like a wrinkled mess  .

I posted a question a while back and am not sure if it was overlooked or nobody had the answer, so I'll ask again! :)

I'm planning on bringing a pillowcase for the characters to sign for my dd, but does anyone have a clue where to get fabric markers? I went to Target the other day and couldn't find any. Someone had once mentioned Crayola fabric markers, but it seems that they're available online. If this is the route that I need to go, I will, but was hoping to find some in several different colors if possible. Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

I believe they sell them at craft stores. I know Crayola makes at least 8 or 9 different colors because we use them at the school where I work. I don't know for sure, but I think Michael's Craft Store or JoAnne's(spelling?) has them.

Well, I got some bad news about the cruise today... One of the girls that was going with us is no longer going.. :scared1: So I'm definatly going to have to meet up with your guys cause i am going to be doing alot of things alone cause the other girl that I am going with is in a wheelchair and won't be going out onto the beach and such and will send alot of time on the ship.

Feel free to hang out with me! Like I've mentioned before, it will be me , my dd who is 3, and my mom. I would LOVE the company!! I think that me and Mrscaptjack are planning on meeting up one night to have a couple of drinks. Please join us if you'd like! :)

Let me know when and where...And Thank you.. I am getting a little nervous about this trip now cause I am going to be doing like the Dolphin encounter and such all alone.. I can drive from MO to FL alone but I can't be kissed by a dolphin all alone.. LOL.. :confused3

You know, I was going to do the dolphin encounter, but was afraid that my 3 year old would freak out (I'm a HUGE animal lover and worked for vets for 12 years, so she's used to animals, but is cautious, too). My mom isn't the beach type of person, but loves cruises due to being pampered! LOL I love my mom, but she definitely could skip the whole Disney/beach part of it! LOL We're now going to do Discover Atlantis that day. Feel free to hang out with me all you want. I plan on trying to put Emily in the Oceaneer's Club if she'll stay there for some of the time, but would love have some fun adult time. BTW, it's cheaper to do the dolphin encounter if you book directly through their site! They don't charge for 3 year olds through the actual place, but Disney charges something like $70!!!

I thought about doing the dolphin encounter but I didn't want to book too much and feel overwhelmed. We are just going to hit the straw market and the Pirate Museum in Nassau and then head back to the ship. If anyone wants to meet up then and hang out I am sure that my kids will be in the clubs and I will be all alone :yay:

MODisneyfan please do meet up with mdhkitten and I!

Its just me and my two neices so I will be interested in any adult conversation.

I have done the Dolphin Encounter and it is really cool. Kinda a once in a life time thing.

MODisneyfan, as a follow Missourian (originally from St. Louis) I have done a Disney Crusie by myself and had a greta time. You end up meeting really cool people and sometimes time with you and your mind can be pretty precious. That being said if you see me and my neices, feel free to join us!

I guess for those of us that want to meet up and have a drink somewhere, we need to figure out when and where since communication on the ship will be difficult since we won't be able to really use our cell phones because of the ridiculous prices! :scared1: Thoughts on a day/time/place anyone? :)

My family will be joining you on this cruise. It will be our first. We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Then we will be at Disney for 11 days. It’s just me, DW, and DS (15 months).

Welcome and congrats on the cruise! We can't wait!! :cool1:

Welcome aboard capntavis. 11 days in Disney - how lucky are you?!

Just booked a car service from the Boardwalk on Thursday morning to the port and from the port to the airport on Sunday. We are going to do a character breakfast at Cape May Thursday morning before the ride to port to get us in the mood. Should get to port at 11ish.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!
