May 8th 2008 cruise

Mrscaptjack- I believe that PB&J is ok on flights, but you may want to post over on the transportation board. They would definitely know!

Any ideas on a day/place/time for meeting up for drinks since we won't exactly be able to contact one another once the cruise starts? :confused3

Looking forward to it!! :woohoo:

Hey Everyone,

I hope that things are going well for everyone... I quit my job today.. Well it was either quit or be fired so I just quit.. I am still going on the trip but things just keep getting worse and worse.. So I am hoping that I am still able to on the Dolphin Encounter.. I have been looking forward to it for a LONG time. Anywho, I would like to be in on the FE but I am going to have a little black bag on my Fish Extender cause I haven' been able to make one.. Anywho, I will post my room number later, I want to doule check on the cabin number. Also I was reading in a posted Navigator that they have Krazy Karoke in one of the bars the night of the Pirate Party at like 11pm.. What about meeting for drinks then

Sounds good to me! I'll meet whenever/wherever you want! Sorry to hear about your job! :( A lot of that has been going around it seems. I hope that you still get to do the dolphin encounter. Just remember that you can do it cheaper through the dolphin encounter place directly and it says that it included r/t transportation. Just google "dolphin encounter" nassau. We're going to do Discover Atlantis that day at the 1:00 ish time, so if you decide to do that instead, you could always hang out with us! :goodvibes

Does anyone know about taking food in your carry-on onto the plane? My son loves uncrustables and I thought that and a small bag of chips would be a good snack/meal for him. It would all be prepackaged and sealed. Is it only liquids that they are concerned about taking on the plane? I looked on the TSA website but all that was addressed was beverages. I would appreciate anyones knowledge on this subject!

I'd check with the airline directly. I believe peanuts are no longer served on flights due to the epidemic of peanut allergies. Not sure if peanut butter would be an issue.

I haven't been around much lately. DH is in the hospital. He went thru a series of cardiac tests due to some chest discomfort and lots of family history of heart disease. He got good news today-no blockages and he should be released tomorrow. We're both so happy!

I have to finish up my FE this weekend. We're going to just chill and relax around the house. Does anyone think we should set a cut-off date for those who would like to participate? That way we'll be sure to have enough items and not have to worry about last minute additions.

Hmmm..........when I flew in January Southwest was still serving peanuts, and it says on their site that flights under 600 miles are served peanuts or pretzels, so maybe all airlines differ.

Disdee- I'm so glad to hear that you hubby is ok! You both definitely deserve this cruise and I'm sure that you're looking forward to it!

There probably should be a cut off time for FE participants to sign up. I got extras of everything because I'm ordering online so that if last minute people signed up I would be ok since I wouldn't be able to just run out to the store and pick up something! LOL Now how in the heck am I going to get all of this stuff on the cruise? I guess I'll have to pack a duffle bag and stuff it in before we get to the port.

Ok, I just googled it and was really surprised to see that so many carriers no longer serve peanuts. I only fly Southwest anymore, so that all that I know. Among those that don't are: American, United, Northwest, JetBlue, Spirit

Hi everyone!

DisDee - I'm so happy your husband is doing well. It seem like you both have been through a lot lately. I really hope you both enjoy our upcoming cruise!!

I agree I think we should have a cut-off date for the FE exchange. I don't want to leave anyone out, but we need to shop and I need to get the final list out to everyone. I know some of you are going to WDW before the cruise so I'd like to get the list complete before anyone leaves. Anyone have a suggestion on when we should make the cut-off?

I don't know when everyone else will be leaving town, but I do on May 6. I would say at the latest on Sunday, April 27, so that Monday we can see exactly how many. This way if anyone needs to order things online, etc, they can still do that and hopefully get it shipped in time. That said, there could be others who are going to WDW during that week so that might be too late of a cutoff. :confused3

Hi all!
I don't know if you've been following the other threads, but DCL just came out with a new non-smoking policy.
No smoking in ANY indoor location ... This includes the clubs, which is great, because DH and I couldn't enjoy those last time because of the heavy smoke and his allergies.
The only places smoking will now be allowed are on Deck 4, 9, and 10 starboard side and on verandahs. Even the seating area on the port side of Cove Cafe will be non-smoking, but there will be a seating area set up on the starboard side.
I'm looking forward to enjoying some adult shows and music in the adult lounges.
This is great news for anyone with sensitivity to smoke and/or allergies. My mom smoked for years, just quit a few years ago, so I know how addictive it can be.
I understand, especially on longer cruises, that totally not allowing smoking at all would exclude a lot of people. I think the areas they have set aside make more sense than those in the past, especially the clubs.
Smoking indoors really is bad, since the smoke travels in the vents and just lingers in the air, even when it is a separate area (like the bars were).
So here we come, Route 66 - See you all there (look for the crazy brunette trying to sing karaoke!).
Rose :)

That date should work for me. I just need 3 days shipping time for UPS to get my box to the resort by May 6.

Rose, I'm all for the new smoking policy. Here in NJ, all smoking was banned from restaurants, bars, etc more than a year ago. Funny thing is, the Atlantic City casinos are exempt from the rule. I suppose gambling money talks. Anyway, those who wish to smoke still have ample outdoor areas where they can enjoy.

Thanks for the good thoughts about DH. We booked this cruise last August while our DS was still on his honeymoon at the Poly and Wonder. Both he and our DD said we would love it as "adults only" being the big Disney fans that we are. It came very highly recommended! Who would have thought that we'd be dealing with such major health issues between then and now? I'm so thankful that we're both good to go!

It's a beautiful morning in NJ. I need to get some things done before going to the hospital, so I'll be back later.

April 27 sounds good to mepirate:

Okay, so I guess April 27 works for everyone as our FE exchange cut-off date. I will type up the list the next day and hopefully have it out to you that night. Ooh, I'm so excited!!

Well, keep your fingers crossed that part of my FE gifts haven't disappeared! :guilty: A DISer friend of mine who lives in Orlando is taking us back and forth from the port. I ordered some things online and decided instead of me having to fly down with these, to have them shipped to him since he would be driving us. He agreed and one smaller order made it to him. I asked him about the other one and he said that he had not seen it yet. I imagine it will be in a couple of boxes that are too big for his apartment mail box. I checked last night and it says that they were delivered last week! :scared1: I just hope that they're at the leasing office! If something did happen, I can always reorder if necessary, but pray they're ok!
