May 6, 2007 - 4 night Wonder

I tried to feed the princess thing with our youngest...she does have a Belle costume, but then chose to be a pirate for halloween!! Go figure!!

18 Days left on April 18:banana: And on May 3, we will only have 3 days left:banana: Is that cool or what:cool1:

Yes, can you tell, this is all I think about!!:goodvibes

Let's get to know each other better. I'll start...

My name is Trina and I have been married to Kyle for 13+ years.
We live in Pittsburgh Pa.
I am originally from Cleveland Ohio.
We have three girls: Alex (12) Taylor (10) Madison (6)

I am a former preschool teacher, but have been a stay-at-home mom for almost 7 years.

We love vacations, ice cream, chocolate, sports and down time!

Right now...our down time includes watching Survivor, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.

My favorite show is Greys Anatomy, Kyle's favorite show is ...watching sports.

Favorite ride at Disney: Splash Mountain
Character breakfast: Chef Mickey
Show: Fantasmic

My name is Mary (or Mary Ruth) Married to Paul for almost 14 years now.

We have 2 girls, Anna just turned 6 and Lily is 2 (will be 3 in a few months.)

We have lived in southwest Michigan (metro Detroit) all of our lives. We live in Royal Oak, north of the City.

I used to be a preschool teacher too, and a clinical social worker (mental health and family child youth) , and done some unofficial ASL American Sign Lanuage interpreting. I plan to go back and do that part time in a few years. I am a stay at home mom for the past 3 years.

DH is a chemistry professor. He used to teach at Michigan State, but has been at a small community college closer to our home for the past 5 years and loves it. He is the real Disney nut in our family, but I love it too.

Lily was allergic to milk and eggs, but is slowly outgrowing it. She is doing great and is all potty trained now and ready to swim in the pool on the boat!

Anna likes the normal 6 year old stuff. She is finishing up K and starting to read very well. She loves Disney princess and American girl. (and I feed those habits) She also likes dance, gymnastics and playing with friends. She loves making friends almost everywhere she goes (but still clams to be shy, go figure.)

Our favorite family past time is bike riding (besides going to Disney of course.)

We are DVC members, VWL since 2002. We love DVC. Want to add on, but I need to go back to work before that happens.

This is our 1st cruise ever. Prompted because SIL and BIL (Cinderelly31 asked us to go with them.) It is there second.

We, the ancient mariners are Lee and Mike (though our passports don't read that way - we are still legal). We have been married for 53 years and when you get to know us you will know it was arranged at the age of 3 (not really, but we try to think that way). This is our first cruise together and it is due to the goodness of a company called Nutrishare. They have over 200 people on board and are picking up a good portion of the tab. We are "customers" of theirs in that Lee is fed by a system called Total Parental Nutrition (TPN). It is used by people who do not have the ability to absorb the nutrition that they need thru "the normal channels". Nutrishare supplies all of our needs. We will bring a Time-Life Book that shows Lee (in her youth) with TPN. It certainly has not stopped her or us, she did a national media tour when we started a support foundation, she was my working partner in business before we retired. We did that 3 years ago and now live in World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL. Lee is currently recovering from a major surgery done March 1st, so her activity may be limited; but if she lets me loose, mine may not. We look forward to seeing everyone on the thread, and can hardly control our emotions. Went out and bought dramimine, hand sanitizer and correctal. I think that covers us. Sooooon

Oh My... you all must think I am selfish...I didn't tell you about the girls.

Alex is a 6th grader...first year in middle school. She loves fastpitch softball, soccer and swimming. She loves the beach. Summers are her passion!

Taylor is a 4th grader. She plays soccer and softball. She loves to hang out with friends.

Madison is a kindergartner. She loves being with friends, dancing and playing soccer. She loves to play with make-up.

You cant miss my girls...they all have very blonde hair!

Me, I gave up trying to be blonde!!

Kyle is a research analyst for a mutual fund company called Federated Investors.

My name is Beth, my husband is Tony. I work at as an accountant at a famous brand hotel, he works for Comcast.

We're celebrating our 1 yr anniversary on board - so married a year.

I always went to Disney as a kid, and I couldn't wait to go "all the time" when I got older. Living in FL now helps! My husband had only been to Disneyland once or twice (he's from CA) so I got him hooked on DisneyWorld.

Epcot is our favorite park - we love to eat! :rotfl:

Our favorite hobby is going to the movies. We go once a week usually. Can't wait to watch on the jumbo screen on the Wonder!! popcorn::

This is our first cruise ever - and Disney was the obvious choice!

My name is Lesley and my DH is Jeff. I work as a receptionist in a dental office. I take care of all hygiene stuff. I would love to be a stay at home Mom, but DH used to work offshore and that was hard. So it was either loose my income or him take a cut in pay to have a land job. So we opted for that route. Now he is a City Marshall and is home with us all the time!:goodvibes I only work 3.7 days a week, so that helps! We have been happily married for almost 8 years in July!!! We have a DD that is 4 and will be 5 in June! She is our miracle of course and our little princess: She can be shy when you first meet her, but warms up once you get to know her. She loves to sing, dance, swing, swim, play soccer and loves to play with kids!! Can't wait to meet everyone. We only have 17 days left:banana:

Hi
Is anyone bringing sea sick medicine for themselves or children? If so, what are you bringing?
TIA,
Lesley

So cool getting know know everyone.

We still need to get a meet time down. I know once we know who we are, we will be seeing each other all over. Here is some pictures of us so you can spot us. There is more in my trip report, link is in my siggy.

I can't seem to find my Dis photo account at the moment, or I would post more. Maybe later.

Edited to add, the links don't seem to be working, if you click on my trip report link in siggy you can see them on page 2. Thanks!

I do plan on bringing seasick meds for myself! I've heard great things about the non-drowsy bonine. You can get it OTC at any drugstore.

I can't wait to meet everyone! How about everyone meeting up for the sailaway party? Just a suggestion! What does everyone think?

I'd love to post some pictures, but I have no idea how to do that!:confused3

We all started to take ginger a couple of weeks ago, and I bought bonine just in case. My 10 yr old and I tend to get car sick...so I am worried!!
I don't know how to post pictures either.

Many, many posts back we talked about a sailaway meet...I've done 5 Disboard meets before and a meet after the lifeboat drill and just prior to the sailaway party on deck 10 facing the terminal seems to work well...it's pretty much where everyone wants to be, anyway, and that gives everyone time to get on board and get their bearings. Open to other suggestions, though. Our whole family will be decked out in Disboards lime green with Cozumel vicious fish shirts, so hard to miss.

My husband and I are Denise and John, we are second-time arounders (married just under three years) We met at a 4 day Disney Institute business seminar in 2000 and I'll just leave out a lot of incriminating details. He proposed to me during a Tapestry of Nations parade (our favorite...wayla, wayla wayla...) We started cruising on DCL in 2003 and haven't slowed down since. We recently bought into DVC, which seemed the natural progression. I've been going to Disney World at least annually since it opened, and have been to Disneyland several times. My DH has been to Euro Disney a lot (he's a Brit).

We usually alternate cruises with and without the kids, and they are coming along on this one since we left them home for our last January Magic Western cruise. Noelle is 14 and Jack is 11 and I don't expect to see much of them on the cruise as they both love to hang out in the Lab/Stack.

It's really a crime for everyone to spend all this time getting to know each other virtually and not make an attempt to rendezvous face to face, so why not let's set up a casual gather spot on deck 10 facing the terminal (where you want to be as the ship pulls out so you can see the DCL terminal cast members waving good bye with the Mickey gloves.) We usually gallop right up after the lifeboat drill to snag a table overlooking the dance floor as it gets really crowded really fast.

What do the rest of you think?

I like the idea! We will be in different color shirts that say Disney on them, me and my Mom's shirts are aqua, the 2 mens shirts are white and my DD shirt is orange (her favorite color)! When you say on Deck 10 facing terminal, do you mean the boarding terminal? Sorry this is my first cruise and I have no idea where anything is!!:confused3 Also I thought the party was on Deck 9...really confused!!
