May 6, 2006 - 7 nite Western - Anyone Crusing?

I was amazed at what a good likeness that was of DW. Who says drivers licenses are ugly?? :moped:

If we all knew each other's full names and towns we could go to that site and learn to recognize each other at the terminal! Oh, well. I'm sure you feel more secure knowing your info is correct! (wink;^)

Gotta run! Getting our travelers checks today! I wonder if they are made of rubber??? :Pinkbounc Remember:Borrow money from pessimists - they don't expect it back.

Bye!
Chris :sunny:

Ah, yes, the screams, whines and moans are wafting from my house too as I make my DD try on last years clothes :rotfl:

DisneyMay06--Hi!--I don't think you'll have any problem getting your DD in Oceaneers from everything I've been reading. My DD turns 5 May 6.

ganurse--What is American Run Miniature Gold? You mentioned seeing some animals--do you mean like a zoo? :confused3 We've never been to Coz and are trying to figure whats the best thing to do with a 5 yr old.

Amy,

So glad Lucy got to come home. :) Yippie, Lucy!!! And that Michael is home.. :) Hugs!!!

Lori

oops :p forgot
Chris--Thank you so much for the warning on how loud the horn is.
DD has tubes in her ears--loud noise is painful--I never would have thought of this--you saved us meltdown!
Wishing you many, many suet balls! (that's Pennsylvania Dutch for thanks a bunch) ;)

Hope Lucy is doing well :thumbsup2

kimaroo, I too was moaning, screaming and throwing a fit on Sunday when I went out shopping for myself! :furious: Nothing is fitting me right, too big here, too small there. I was not happy. Finally after 2 hours I found some clothes. So now I remember how it feels and I won't think badly of my children as they wail trying on their clothes.

ganurse, hope your Lucy is doing better. Nothing more pathetic than a mending pooch. My 10yo black lab milks it for all it is worth when she is wounded or under the weather.

Glad to hear everyone is safe after all those nasty storms. Were getting another round of spring tease here in the northeast today. Should be reaching in the mid to upper 60's today. I'll take that over the 40's & 50's any day.

The kids have off for spring break next week. My older DD has a sleep out for our DARE drug program at a local bowling alley. Also hoping DMIL keeps them overnight for me, she watches the girls when they are off from school. More time to shop for me would be nice. Everyone else is almost done with clothes, except for me. I just have a few things to order online for them and I can concentrate on me!

Chris, thanks for reminding me about travelers checks. Did not even think about getting them. I was just gonna take some cash and use credit cards as much as possible to not have to worry. Now, I better talk to DH and see which he prefers. Something else that might ruffle his feathers if I don't do what he would have liked.

Well, we are another day closer to the cruise. Have a nice day everyone!

Instead of the paper travelers checks, you can also get them as a debit card. I am taking some cash and will use my CC for any major purchases if we even make any. I like having the protetion of my CC.

I, uh, really don't know what to say - - - suet balls??? Thanks??? I always thought Pennsylvania Dutch expressions were like "Throw Grandpa down the staircase his cane." or "Throw the cow over the fence some hay." Suet ball? Interesting term of "endearment". :rolleyes1 Anywho, I'm very glad you took that part of my post as serious!! It is a very LOUD experience - even for adults! ;)

Hey Gina! Yes, I've used travelers checks for years and being out of the US it is a much safer way of having "hands on" control of "mad money". Most places will cash them up to $100 denominations when you purchase something. Thankfully - to those new to cruising - a cruise is an almost "cashless" experience. (It's when we get back home that we REALLY experience the sensation of "cashless"!?!) The "Key to the World" card is almost all you will need - but remember it is as valuable as cash. Take card of it! :umbrella:

BTY - We had a guy :smokin: down here the other day from somewhere in the great frozen north who was trying to get some of us dumb southerners to cash some $18 dollar bills he'd printed. I offered him 3 $6s or 2 $9s but he wouldn't take them. I wonder why??? :teeth:

(Suet balls? Hmmmmmmm?????)

Hey Amy! Hope Lucy is doing well. I'm sure Charlie Brown missed her too! paw:

Anybody heard from Sandra lately "eh"? Hope things thaw in BC by the cruise "eh". Have a good day "eh". (Is that redundant?) :confused3

Bye!
Chris :mickeyjum

Suet balls????? O.K. (?) :scratchin

Hi Chris:

Sandra here, hailing from sunny Victoria, the Hawaii of Canada. Although I'm reading that some of you Americans are digging your way out of snowstorms, we're seeing highs of 60 and the weather is sunny and fine!

On a more somber note, I was diagnosed with labrynthitis yesterday, an inflammation of the inner ear which causes extreme vertigo. This is very upsetting as we're off to WDW for 10 days pre-cruise. Vertigo and WDW +cruising do not equal a good mix.

The Dr. gave me some anti-vertigo meds, but she said it may take some time. This is causing me all sorts of anxiety as I'm super busy at work + I have so much still to do before we leave in 15 days.

So, send me some pixie dust and magic vibes. I have been planning this trip of a lifetime for 16 months and this is just so upsetting now that we are down to the wire.

By the way, I'm still hoping for an upgrade, but nothing yet!

Sandra, from sunny Victoria

Recently I suffered two weeks of vertigo and believe me YOU ARE ON THE TOP OF MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. Absolutely nothing has ever made me as sick. I'm a multi-tasker but to a degree I had no idea UNTIL I WAS SICK. I nearly died one day when I thought I was well enough to tie my shoes. WRONG!!!! It had to run its course and on occasion I still have twinges of the nausea. Just rest as much as you can BEFORE your vacation and take your time doing EVERYTHING. There are few things more miserable than being sick on vacation or dizzy on a ship. Be well, my friend. EH??

Chris

Sandra -- I will send you some pixie dust -- and put you on my prayer list.
I hope in the next 15 days that you will find some time to rest and let that ear heal so you will have a wonderful vacation!!

Lynn - in OK

I am excited that after this week, only 2 weeks left until my vacation
woohoo

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Lynn and Chris. I'm feeling very fragile, and close to crying any minute. My boss tiptoed into my office a little while ago and asked if there was anything he could do to help, and while, sadly the answer was no, it was nice that he asked.

I'm hoping this vertigo will go away soon, its hard to turn my head, and Saturday I was so nauseated and the room was spinning so fast I thought I might already be in WDW.

I love rides, and I'm scared I'll be too nauseous to go on them. Sigh...I'm going to try and take it easy and if I don't get all the clothes purchased for this trip, well, you all will have to put up with me wearing last year's clothes! Better badly dressed, than feeling sick!

We did some shopping for the boys this weekend, and it was a nightmare! Less co-operative they couldn't be! I think I'm done with them. If they need anything else, I'll buy it in WDW.

Question: does the boat rock much, or is it stable? I went on a cruise in 1989 for my honeymoon (our 17th is this Saturday!), but I can't remember. Since we live on an island we're used to ferries and I'm okay with them, but I'm hoping the vertigo won't make me seasick!

gotta fly. Thanks for all your thoughts. Lynn, I'll send you a private message later.

Oh gosh, I hope you are feeling better soon. Not only are you not feeling well, but that seems to be putting more stress on you..I will be praying for you..We want everyone happy and healthy for this trip!!!!! Wish you were in Atlanta, i'd bring you dinner tonight!

Sandra, Here's wishing you a very speedy recovery. :grouphug:

and

Amy, Lucy is soooo cute. Hope all is well with her too.

Normally I'd make a crack about avoiding food like either chocolate souffles or dogs, but out of respect for your tummy I'll wait - - - - - - for now, that is :duck:

As to your question about the ships stability, it is an incredible marvel of design and technology. The "Good news" is it actually has underwater retractable stabilizers which actually diminish wave action over 90%. :yay:

The "bad news" is that everyone is different physicologically and what doesn't phase one person with drive another nuts! (Maybe THAT'S when it happened???? Oops. I digress - personally.)

A few years ago DW had a cyst removed from her left ear and in the process lost all the tiny inner bones and balance components - not to mention her hearing. (Strange how it always seems to swap sides depending on which side I'm talking to her on!? Hmmmm??) Anyway, we firmly believed it would be her who would suffer the rigors of sea-sickness, not the "ROCK" of her hubby. You guessed it! I was up close and personal with the "throne room" all night the VERY FIRST NIGHT! I've already started taking my dramamine!! :faint:

Hopefully after your long trip TO the cruise you'll already have adjusted. (I'm still adjusting to Daylight Savings Time!!) :hourglass I have no idea as to your location on the ship, but many previous cruisers told us after my LAST adventure in the "porcelain palace" to always book a stateroom as low and to the middle of the ship as possible. (Also if the ship breaks in half you'll be some of the first ones OUT!! :teeth: )

Just out of curiosity, am I the ONLY GUY with "no life" who has time to post on this stinking board????? :upsidedow Don't get me wrong ladies, you're wonderful, but I am feeling somewhat outnumbered!!! Hope your hubbys don't come after me for spending so much time with their wives!!

Printed all our address labels for cards today! Hope I remember to take them with us! It sure saves time and helps prevent messing up the cards since my hand writing is very similar to hieroglyphics! :magnify:

Later Ya'll!
Chris :boat:

:offtopic: Amy, were those pictures made at the new aquarium in Atlanta? Just keep in mind the shark tank was built by the lowest bidder!! :hyper:

Hi Guys...

What are all of you planning to do in Cozumel? When I first started planning I thought we'd do the Dolphin Discovery stuff, but now I think I've heard something about the park where they have the dolphins being closed until July? Or that maybe it's open but the dolphins aren't back yet? But then it still has the Dolphin Discovery (or whatever they call it!) listed on the Disney Cruise page. I'm so confused! Does anyone have the real scoop on the Dolphins?

Also...anyone here doing the Nativeway Stingray & Sandbar tour in Grand Cayman? (We are booked on the 9am tour! Yay!)

Sandra--adding my prayers too :)
ganurse--your Lucy is precious-hoping she's mending ok
Chris--Yup--suet balls--trust me, it's better than chocolate bunnies :rolleyes1

:sunny: I am just too darned excited! It's nice and sunny here today and it's only 24 days away! and my formal dress fits ! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
