Really had no idea about the different categories. I booked cat 11 via a TA when it was the kids stay free promotion. Which for the room and 2 of my kids, there is no real discernible difference between that price and the cat 12 price. For my 2nd room that my mother and my oldest will be staying, the kids stay free promo didn't work but the $999/pp would've made the most difference. Also, when TA's call disney cruise line, the disney people quote them on 11. I only found out about the ctgy 12 promo from the website. My in-laws just booked and their agent called disney cruise line to book, and the disney people only told them about ctgy 11. She had to call them out on the ctgy 12 promo. I talked to my TA and asked them about downgrading for the lower fare but she's saying that it wouldn't be that much of a difference - I'm thinking that she's either charging me a cancellation fee or she doesn't want to take a hit on the lower commission. So that's my luck and what I get for not knowing any better. I would never use a TA again.

I'm really sorry that you were not told the truth....feels like a lie doesn't it? I've got my fingers crossed for you that you will get an upgrade to ocean view. I've seen that happen in the 2 cruises before ours....cat. 11 getting good upgrades. Are your ressies linked? If you are side by side with your inlaws, I believe, you have a greater chance of upgrade. That may not be true in the past, but seems to be true for the 2 cruises before ours.

I wouldn't base your general opinion of travel agents on this one experience. We have loved working with ours and she has saved us money time and time again even when I know it had to be cutting into her commission. I hope it works out for you and that you get upgraded!

For your 2nd room with your eldest, I would try to downgrade it. It will be a difference of a few thousand. For you and your kids, a while ago the kids for free offer was offered for cat 12, I got the last of it I think. Then it went only cat 11 and under for the KFO offer, so you are ok then with that as you would be paying 899 per child in cat 12 now anyway. But for the 2nd room, there is no reason to be in cat 11 unless that is what they want. My TA was bad too. They actually charged me $25 to book the cruise. I had no idea what I was doing either, but now I know!

And yes, it will be great no matter what, but how much better will it be if you downgrade that 2nd room to a cat 12 and put 2k in your pocket and then most likely get a cat 11 or better upgrade for free?

I know people that have. My friends have as well and they are a cat 12..i have not yet. My friends just got cat 9 from a cat 12 gty...so they are starting! One thing is for sure, they are not assigning rooms based on who booked first!

It is true!! You really are in a cat. 6, same deck as me btw . It is very rare for DCL to take away an upgrade once given....it could happen, but most likely will not. Feel free to dance

Congrats Goofy Mum and dwcsk8! Those are fantastic upgrades! I'm so glad everyone is finally getting their stateroom. Seems like we should have lots of happy cruisers with all that pixie dust going around!

Finally booked airfare last week - after waiting and waiting for flights from ATL to come down - they never did - but the seats were going quickly so I used miles and added some days pre-trip in Barcelona and post-trip in Munich. Should be fun to see the Alps as well as the Med!

I'm so glad you said that about the flights! We booked about a month ago after I got tired of waiting and worrying about the seats (my mom can't stand to sit too far back...). I figured we'd be missing out on some huge summer fare war, but so far, nothing. We're doing a pre-trip to Disneyland Paris, Florence and Venice. Love Germany too though. Are you going to be able to make it to the castle region at all? Its all gorgeous, so you can't go wrong, but Fussen and that area is fantastic. From the mountains...to the valleys...to the oceans...seems like someone should make your trip into a song!

Oh yeah...bring on the Pixie Dust Happy Dance! My sister and I both went from cat 12 to cat 8 - deluxe oceanview! Can't wait to call and tell her tomorrow.

On past cruises, I've always had the cheapest we could book = standard inside stateroom. It will be SO nice to have a view and sunlight this time. We are on deck 5 and got two rooms next to each other. (Can't tell if they adjoin.) Who else is on deck 5?

I haven't posted in quite some time....life is crazy with college visits and financial aid applicatiosn for my soon to be graduate. Got my daughter's passport yesterday. Got our assigments today. The upgraded us to cat 9's that are adjoining rooms! Great! Double the space! Hooray!

I am kinda dissappointed. Not really because we got a 10, obviously preferred to get a 9, but it's on deck 2. Looked up the reviews and all said it was noisy:-(
