May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

I'm getting so EXCITED! This cruise is fast approaching.

We're headed to WDW next week for spring break. Staying in DVC Beach Club & We can't eait. By the time we get back we will be under 30 days till the cruise!

I've got to start working on my door magnets. I've got a ton of graphics but have to figure out how to personalize them. Anyone know a program that is easy that will let me put the graphics in & then personalize them?

Is anyone else getting really EXCITED like me????

Alison

Hello!

I used a free 30 day trial of Adobe Photoshop to make the banner here.

It is at adobe.com.

Thanks for the advice about the door signs. Have to give them a try this weekend :)

I'm such a bad DISer...I have been SO busy with life in general. Plus, with the new job, I can't really just come online whenever and by the time I get home I don't go near a computer. I'm trying to catch up on some TIVO stuff so I took my hubby's computer and came and sat down.

Anywho...yes, we're getting excited...yesterday (3/20), the kids turned 5 and we did a mini-countdown (because they know that we go to Disney after their birthday, after daddy's birthday and after mommy's birthday (I already made all of us a year older (LOL)).

DH and I are going to Vegas on Thursday for a long weekend to celebrate his birthday. After that, I'll probably get REALLY excited. Of course, after the cruise, it is a MAJOR drought for us. :( :( :( Not that I have any right to complain. We've gotten a couple 'reminders' to renew our WDW passes. I've wracked my brain to try to figure out a way to do it, but it just doesn't make sense to do it again right now since the kids start kindergarten in September. So sad...it was DEFINITELY fun while it lasted.

Brandi-Saw your post...maybe we should sync up when we first get on the ship to see if we're at the same table and if not, see if we can go to Rockin' D (or wherever we have to go for restaurant changes) to see if they can do something).

Ciao all!!!

I'm curious... Who's going to WDW right after the cruise and where are you staying?

We are going for just a few days (until the 13th) and are staying at the Carribbean Beach Resort. :cloud9:

Anyone else? popcorn::

We're flying in at 10:30 pm the night before and staying at the Hyatt and then staying at Universal for one night afterwards. :wizard:

You are sooooooo lucky. CBR is my favourite WDW resort!:wizard:

We are doing a week after and staying in a nearby Residence Inn. We got it using points so we can't complain. The kids still haven't stayed on site and we tried to finagle it, but we just can't afford it after the cruise. Maybe next time. Although, my dh knows that we WILL be rebooking if we like the cruise after the first couple of days.

I can't believe how fast time is going. I have been suffering some health problems for the past few months and have been focusing on that, but I still come to the boards every day. I am starting to stress about the things I have yet to do.

My dh went and booked the cruise and WDW at a travel agent, so they automatically put us in a WDW resort. I nearly had a panic attack that evening... "But I didn't get to do any checking/planning/price comparisons!!!" But now I'm glad he did, it saved me months of agonizing.

Although, my dh knows that we WILL be rebooking if we like the cruise after the first couple of days.

We've discussed that, too. I'm a little concerned we'll get caught up in the rebooking frenzy... again, before I get the chance to agonize! :rotfl:

I'm sorry to hear about that. It sort of takes away from the fun for now. I think I'm enjoying the anticipation as much as I'll enjoy the cruise. What type of health problems are you having?

I keep telling myself, "you don't HAVE to do door magnets, you don't HAVE to plan coordinating tshirts, you don't HAVE to pick out costumes for pirate night" and so on. I'm obsessing way too much about what there is to be done! I wish I could be the type to just throw a few swimsuits in the bag and be done with it. I don't know why I put all of this pressure on myself!!! :rolleyes1

We'll see ya' there!

I'm in the same boat as you are. I tried to see if we could afford it but we can't, not right now, as you said, right after the cruise. None of my family, including myself, has even been to Disney World  It is hard to be so close and not stop but we'll have to save that for a future trip.

I am hoping to be able to finagle rebooking onboard too.

We'll just be staying at the Hawthorn Suites for one night afterwards.

We go home on the 11th. After we disembark, we're heading over to SeaWorld (we get in for free) and then on the 11th, we're hitting Magic Kingdom (our 'free' day from the rain-out from he** when we went to MNSSHP). Although Spirit keeps messing with our return trip. It's getting earlier and earlier which stinks, but we'll survive. After that, we're done with Disney (much to my dismay). As much as I would love to, I don't think we're re-booking on-board either since the prices when the kids would be on vacation are just astronomical....but I guess we'll see.

We have possibly a strange mixture itinery for some, but we have tried to max out our Annual leave and finances!

We leave UK on 2nd May, and have booked Best West Ocean View (cheap) at Port Canaveral for the night pre cruise. After the cruise we are going back to Orlando I-Drive for 5 nights Best Western Movieland. This is also cheap..and allows easy on access to all the stuff up there. We have planned a day each at Universal/Islands/Busch Gardens and Aquatica.
We thought we might use the disembarkation day to pop in to Sea World for a few hours to see Shamu, so see you there  Dawn!!
Then we ditch the hire car and transfer to Disney for 10 nights Port Orleans.:dance3: We been planning for ages. This is my DH choice for 50th Bday last month (delayed cos we thought weather better if we wait a bit).

The cruise is the bit we are really looking forward to though..as have never cruised ever before, let alone a Disney cruise!
Been shopping today in Marks and Spencers, and DH has bought a Dinner suit....a very inexpensive value price £49.50 one I hasten to say...but it doesn't look too bad, and is even cheaper than hiring...so bargain!
We are getting nearer and nearer......can't wait to meet you all :yay:
Happy Easter to all Dis Maytees

Thanks for the hugs about my health. I have had bronchitis type stuff since December and it just won't go away. I also have high BP, Cholesterol and some other stuff due to a metabolic disorder. So, this last time at the doctor they decided to do some bloodwork and a chest x-ray. Diagnosis= mild congestive heart failure. They are still doing tests so I really don't know the seriousness of it yet. I don't think it is too bad and it better not interfere with my vacation.

I have been doing much better and not coughing and wheezing so much. I have a month and a half to get better.

As far as rebooking, we decided if we liked cruising we would book a dummy date and then change to a date in 2010 when those dates are released. This way, the kids school vacation time could be more affordable. My son will be in 6th grade by then, and we just wouldn't be able to take him out of school.

I, too, am trying not to stress over the stuff I don't get done. I just really need to shop for some clothes and we did some shopping today. Just got back from the outlet mall and I found a cute skirt, shirt and jeans. Although the jeans are not for the cruise. I really don't like taking pants to hot climates. I also have more t-shirts on order from LLBean. They sure have some nice stuff. So I am getting closer to being ready. I do want to try to at least get a couple of magnets made, but I cannot find magnet stuff. Guess I gotta keep shopping. ;)

At least I have my lime green bracelets, so you all can recognize me. :dance3:

I got ours yesterday at our local party store. You should have seen my dh roll his eyes. :sad2: I somehow doubt he's going to agree to wearing it. He thinks I've lost it. :confused3 He's probably right! :rotfl:

I've got to stop reading posts about engine trouble! It's starting to give me nightmares!

Wow! You are maxing out your time! I am very jealous! :thumbsup2

Hehehehe... your DH can join my DH  in rolling his eyes about the bracelets. :rotfl:

Today, we had a convo when we were out running errands that went something like this:

Me: We need to go in here 'cause I need to get some Seaband bracelets for the cruise.

DH: What?

Me: I need those bracelets for the cruise.

DH: I thought you got those on Ebay.

Me: No, those are the ones for my thread on the DISboards!!!!!!!!!! Those are green so people can identify us. Kind of like when we were in MK and we wore the paint chips and people said 'hi'.

DH: Oh... so, what are these?

Me: These are so they won't get seasick. They put pressure on some nerves or something...

DH: Oh... so, we are going to be wearing two bracelets...

:lmao: It killed me, and him, when we both realized the way that the convo was going... :upsidedow

I kinda see why he rolls his eyes... :rolleyes1

I'm also with you guys on the stressing stuff. There is so much to remember! With WDW, we just pack a bunch of summer stuff and that's it... with this, there are over the door hangers, formal clothes, extra bathing suits, all kinds of docs... not to mention the other ideas I have gotten... like bringing empty reusable water bottles and stuff so that we can just fill them on the ship, and to make our own mixed drinks. I know I am going to forget something for sure! :headache:

However, I went shopping today and got two complete outfits for summer (although we still have snow on the ground), I also scouted out a new bathing suit that I might pick up next paycheque and DH and I each got pirate stuff. He is complaining a bit about the clip on earring but he'll get used to it! :woohoo:

We have never been on any cruise before, and haven't usually waited this long for a trip..... so, we're getting super anxious!!!!!! :cheer2:

Yea good question....I was wonderring if things will be different since it's the last cruise before it heads West???

Hey, a fellow Taurus! :)

I'm sure we'll have others over here joining us soon.

One thing I have noticed when we have sailed at the end of the season is that the shops tend to clear out the merchandise to get ready for their change in venue. Like, when we sailed the last Mexican Riviera cruise before Holland America was heading to Alaska for the summer, they had lots of merchandise on sale to make room for the new stuff they would get for the Alaska itinerary. I wonder if DCL will do anything similar, since we're the last cruise before they head west? I tend to doubt it since their shops aren't that big in the first place, but it will be interesting to see!

Don't worry, be happy! :goodvibes The last thing I ever want to stress about is shopping  Anyway, I picked up my ipod travel alarm yesterday, and after some good advice from DISers on the main thread picked up a brand new tuxedo from JC Penney for a great price. Even DH was impressed! :cool1: My green "DIS Maytees" wristbands came in the mail this week, and I found a great Lightning McQueen rashguard at Kohl's for DS and a new swimsuit for DH. I need to STOP making door signs!!! Maybe I shoud dust and vacuum around here instead! :rotfl: If anyone tells DH I said that, I will deny it.

We are not going to WDW before or after. We're going to have a couple of days in Myrtle Beach on the way down and will head straight home on the day after. We debated a trip to the world. DS has never been, but this is the longest vacation we've ever taken him on other than visiting family, and I was concerned about overstimulating him. He's a pretty high intensity kid, so I didn't want to put him on overload. :scared1: We've already booked a Land/Sea for next June, so that will be his big into to the wonderful World!

BTW, I stretched out my signature pretty wide, and we have mostly WS monitors, so it looks good to me. Anyone with a smaller monitor having issues with it? :confused3 Thanks!

Hi Everyone!
Has anyone started a list of cabins participating in fish extenders? I've gotten a bunch of stuff to make one but haven't started yet on the project

If it was about JC Penney having 50% off formal wear that was me!

If it was something else, well then, it was someone else. Glad you found something at a great price.

Because of your suggestion on the main board http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1590292

I bought the Midland walkie talkies to use on our trip yesterday at Walmart. :yay:

Also, I don't have a widescreen monitor on my desktop, only my laptop and I think your signature looks fine.

I agree with you all the stuff required for this trip... It's huge. I've been shopping since January. Everytime I get paid I get a few more things. I've whittled down my list to about 10 small items. I knew I'd better since every Saturday the whole month of April is tied up with something to do with my kids. :scared1:

I think what makes this trip trickier as we will be away from the US and on a ship. You can't just run down to Walgreens or CVS.

We've never cruised either or been on a real vacation to speak of. So this is a trip of many firsts for us. :woohoo:

If there is something you forgot, you could get it at Key West where there is a Walgreens and a CVS. I looked them up and they are both very close to the port. :cool1:

I don't see a Walmart or a Target, however. They probably don't have room for either on such a little plot of land. The Walmart parking lot alone could take up that whole island. :lmao:

I'm sure there are other stores that I don't have here locally so I wouldn't know what to search for. The people that live there have to be able to shop somewhere.
