May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

I believe that is who I ordered it from. I did order from eBay so we shall see. OK so I know this was SOMEWHERE in the thread, but no idea where I saw it (since I didn't intend to do originally)... We get small things, trinkets, etc. to put in the fish extender...got it. We deliver things once? Twice? in the week? Thanks.

Dawn McG

We really started talking about fish extenders around page 55. Bobbi565 posted a photo of her fish extender on that page. If your fish extender has embroidery on it it's probably the same person. Her DIS name is LuvTheEars and her ebay name is gradysmommy or gradysmom something like that. Her work is incredible she's awesome!:cool1:

I don't see that she has any listed on ebay right now.

I agree with bobbi she's really quick. Even doing a total custom one, without pockets, I had it by Friday and originally just ran the idea by her about doing one without the pockets the previous weekend. I just wanted a banner to find my room with so I call mine a 'fish finder'. I didn't figure I'd have time to do the door magnets and I really may end up not having the time.

::cop: Also, to those of you bringing fish extenders. Please pack a zip tie to attach your fish extender to the fish with. I have read where people have had their fish extenders stolen. :sad2: And if you do magnets make sure they are personalized as they have been taken as well. Also don't forget scissors or something to cut the zip tie to get your fish extender down with when you leave. I think it's mostly teens roaming the ship unsupervised. ::cop:

:thumbsup2 Also, CruisinEars I pm'd my info to you to add to the roster. :thumbsup2

On another note, seems AA might have got all their stuff squared away, thank goodness. :cool1: All said and done they cancelled more than 3000 flights last week. They have been given the green light by the FAA to return them to service.

I thought I might have to do like Bobbi did last time and just get in the car and drive people! Not sure how far she had to go but it would probably be 20 hours for us.

We've got two weekends left!!!! Oh why did I say that? My stomach just leapt and started fluttering. I've drug out the luggage and plan on starting some packing today.

I also ordered the package from the KW visitors bureau. In some ways it was sort of a rip because they charged me like 10 dollars shipping, it did cost them 6.50 to ship usps, so I think the whole thing was 15 or 20 bucks. But it did come with several maps, and some coupons etc, advertisements, a local newspaper. It took about a week to get here so if you're interested you still have time.

After our visit to San Antonio last year without a real map and countless arguments every time we were in the car because we didn't have a real map, only a mapquest map, I decided we can't go anywhere out of our immediate vicinity without a real map. We need a bigger picture than what MapQuest gives you to get our bearings in a strange place and once you go past that little block of map it prints for you, you're in trouble.

Bad thing one of them says 'free map'. There is a chamber of commerce very close to Mallory Square so you might be able to pick one up there. If you are like us, not directionally impaired, just need a bigger overview it might do some good to stop by the chamber of commerce and see if they have any free maps. Or you still have time to order from the visitors bureau.

Another reason why I'm glad we will not be doing any driving on this vacation. We were fine away from the car but everytime we got in it, we were even driving the kids crazy.:lmao:

Also, if you like to scrapbook you can keep all the extra stuff from KW to put in your scrapbook. I plan on keeping every piece of paper I come into contact with for my scrapbook. I've been wanting to start scrapbooking for years and I just haven't yet so I will do that with this trip.

I"m good with the one day thing...There are 8 of us listed (7 if you group all of Leia's Mom today) so we could start with the day we leave (Saturday) and go through Friday. Of course, whomever has the first day would have to do it later in the afternoon/evening probably since it takes time to get luggage/bags, etc. Another option is to skip the SATURDAYS and do two Sunday (one morning, one evening) and then Mon-Fri. The only day that would be tough for me would be Grand Cayman day. We have 2 different excursions we're doing. Other than that, I am good with whatever day I'm 'assigned'. :)

I did some more packing this morning and have to do a little more today too. I am REALLY taking how much time left to heart since the four days before we leave, I'm in Orlando on a business trip. (groan)...

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
Dawn

It's about a 14 hour drive for us, although last time it was planes, trains, AND automobiles, as our car broke down in VA and we had to catch the Amtrak in Richmond! :scared: This time, we're just driving the whole way, as DS has made it abundantly clear he is is NOT boarding an airplane again any time soon!

This works for me, although I would prefer to go sometime Sun. - Wed.! :)

Another note about maps! If you are a member of AAA, you can pick up a map for free of Key West and Orlando. I just grabbed some (since I work there) and actually had to order one weeks ago from Key West since we don't carry that particular one here in Canada.

I'm also starting to scrapbook. I have far too many photos on the computer and in shoeboxes, so I actually picked up my first scrapbook today. I'm going to buy a special sheet of paper (and got some Sharpies) for the characters to sign on board. Now I just have to figure out how to pack one sheet of scrapbooking paper... Any ideas? :confused3

Thus far, we have 9 cabins participating. So, if we wanted to designate days, we have more than enough to ensure one surprise a day. Two days would have two cabins participating. Maybe on sea days to have multiple cabins?

I guess we'll need to see if anybody else decides to participate this week. Then, we could make the call???

What do you guys think?

Here is the revised list:

1. imheather: Heather, Bill, dd Morgan 11, ds Jake 5 -- Cabin: 2604
2. Faith&Hope: Kym & Dempsey, DD 5, dd 2.5 -- Cabin: 7602
3. Bobbie565: Bobbi, Mike, Joel 5 -- Cabin: 2568
4. Gummyvites: Steve and Karen, DD Bethany 5, DS Andrew 8 -- Cabin: 6036

Heather,

Leia will be quite excited to hear from Morgan.

To all the FE participants,

If everybody wants to do assigned days, I will repost the final list on Friday or so. Then, people could pick which day they prefer. I can then do a final list.

Is anybody leaving really early and needs the information before this weekend?

Amy

Who is everyone flying with anyway? And, is anyone else coming from Canada? We are flying with West Jet, they are a great Canadian airline! So, I'm very happy to be going with them, it is our first time... Usually we fly with Southwest.

I promise, promise, promise to start packing today... :rotfl: I keep saying that I'm going to and then I get carried away :P

Well at least it will save you some time by skipping the airport and you don't have to worry about your luggage getting stolen or lost.

Thanks for the tip but I'm not a member. :sad2:

I would look at a scrapbooking or craft supply store close to you maybe you could come up with something. Like I told bobbi565 about her mat. People wag that stuff around you're bound to find something.

My girlfriend gave me the tip about using scrapbook paper so it won't disinigrate over time because its acid free. I am doing something similar for my youngest and I'm just packing the album itself to keep the paper in but I got him an 8x8 so it's a little smaller than a 12x12. I Couldn't find a lot of cute disney paper in the 12x12 and I found a whole pad of coordinated paper in the 8x8. Later if I decide to do a 12x12 album I'll just incorporate the paper into the 12x12 album with layering. And also I don't have to worry with him remembering to skip a page so I can insert a photo of him with the character for each character signing. I can just put it all together when we get home.

Also we can use the album for them to have something sturdy to sign on. I was thinking they wouldn't always have something sturdy to put under a sheet of paper to sign. My only other worry was the sharpie bleeding through the paper onto what was under it.

I ordered one of those keepsake boxes from Disney for them to leave in the room. I've read that the daily navigators fit in it. and I thought all my other little scraps of paper would too. And I'll also be able to use that 8x8 album also with the protectors to keep things in. That way all my stuff won't get smashed in my suitcase on the way home.

I am flying american airlines.

I did start packing yesterday to the dismay of my DH. Glad I did it took me awhile to find my kids swimtrunks I just bought and made the mistake of telling them to put them up. I couldn't stand it anymore. Why not go ahead and pack the things you are not using like formal attire and swimsuits or new clothes you are saving to specifically wear for the cruise?

I want to take another shot at 5/2 evening dinner in Cape Canaveral. Since there are some new posters since the last time I asked about this, perhaps I'll get some responses. We are planning on dining at Grills, a local restaurant with a great view of the port, the evening before the cruise, as we are staying at the Country Inns and Suites. If anyone else will be in town, I'd love to meet up at dinner. Grills doesn't take reservations on a Friday night, but they said you can call in your name to the wait list up to an hour before you plan to arrive. If anyone's interested, let me know and I will take of it. :thumbsup2

We would love to but we are not arriving at MCO until super late, sounds like lots of fun. :goodvibes

We're flying Delta. I've never used them before, so I'm not sure what to expect. :confused3

I haven't even hauled out the suitcases yet. But I do have a box filled with FE goodies, pirate costumes, travel-size toiletries and such.

HI,

We are arriving at 4:40 in Orlando. Plan on driving right to Cape Canaveral. We would be interested if it is not to late for you. I think we both have 5 year olds but I could be wrong:)

We're flying Virgin Atlantic from Manchester UK, getting into MCO around 1430hrs your time.
The formal gear is hanging on an ironing tidy rail...the toiletries are being collected up..and the suitcases............are now OPEN and READY to fill:banana:
Just not sure whether we will need 2 or 3 cases:confused3
I am a shoe-a-holic. .and finding it hard to play minimal there....
Also debating whether we can afford the space for both DH's tux and an ordinary suit...or just formal trousers, shirt and tie may be enough!

Seems awful strange for a Disney trip..normally we pack shorts and Ts and a few sun frocks for me...and an empty suitcase for all our shopping!!! This visit I have Crocs and Spanx underwear on my list to buy... :thumbsup2 as well as some items from the Disney home/cook/kitchen ranges!

Awww... so, we have been kind of keeping an eye out to see when the new Simpsons ride is going to open at Universal, as we are going on the 10th of May. We haven't been before, so we are just happy to visit... but we were pretty disappointed to see that they are going to be opening the ride on the 15th!!!!!!! How close!!!!!!!

How likely do you Universal vetrans think it'll be that they'll do a soft opening days before ;)

:confused3

Usually soft openings are for passholders. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

We are done shopping (yeah).

I'm not flying for the cruise but, I am flying to Paris on Friday so I hope the airline groundings don't expand to other lines.

This visit I have Crocs and Spanx underwear on my list to buy... :thumbsup2 as well as some items from the Disney home/cook/kitchen ranges!

You sound like my kind of gal! :thumbsup2

However, I have to warn you... I bought some Spanx a year or two ago and they ripped after only 2-3 times of being worn. When I brought them back to the store (I only wore them for a couple of hours each time), they referred me to the manufacturer... when I talked to the Spanx company, they said I was out of luck! So, be warned. I loved the product. They worked wonders and actually still kind of do... but they are not quite the same.

Same with my Mickey spatula, spoon, whisk, etc. All of the handles snapped off, actually... one snapped yesterday during pancakes! :scared1:

I swear, I'm not that tough on my stuff!!!!!! :rolleyes1

Just wanted to share some 'news' with my Disney Family.

First off, let me say that I need to join Disney Anonymous because I have come to the conclusion that I have a serious addiction with the Mouse. :worship:

So here's the scoop. One year from today, I turn the big '40'. My husband agreed that we could go on a Southern Caribbean cruise (RCCL) and I was happy about that. But deep down, I was having several second guessing instances. First off...it's not DISNEY and my kids will have gone on Disney twice (characters, Oceaneer's Club, etc.)...would they like it? Would they be old enough (at 6) to do rock climbing and some of the other COOL activities on the ship? Let's not even talk about the cost. Although it was about half the price of Disney (easter week '09), there were no shipboard credits to be had which means EVERY excursion we book we'd be paying for :scared1: (For this cruise, we have a good amount in credits...MUCH easier to handle!). Then there's the little matter of airfare....to fly to Puerto Rico is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. So the 'savings' began to diminish.

Pt2...In October, my DH is going to Vegas to see his friend get married. I am invited, but what to do with the kids? My parents will be back in FLA so that wouldn't work. Then I thought....Hmmm...it would be cool to try Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) again. (we did last year, but it POURED 95% of the time). It was REALLY COOL minus the rain. So, I checked out a long weekend at Disney in late October. My season passes would be expired by this point. My reaction -- :scared1: Seriously! So, then I had a discussion with him about REDOING the season passes (because after all, you go twice and they're paid for), but instead of renewing NOW, wait a month and then buy new and then just activate in October when we go. Plus, now...they offer the dining plan for season pass holders (which if you like doing character meals makes it totally worth it). So, that's what we're doing. I'm going to keep it a secret from the kids and we'll just 'go'. So, I cancelled the RCCL cruise and am going to have ANOTHER year of Disney...I am happy again. :)

Dawn McG

Dawn... You are a Disney cracccccck-smoker! :rotfl: And no, I'm not throwing stones (see signature :rolleyes1 ).

Heather

That sounds fine! :thumbsup2 We will be leaving Myrtle Beach by car that morning, so we probably won't be in much earlier than you. I imagine we can both make it to the port by 6:30 or 7:00ish...does that sound about right to you? Maybe we can exchange cell phone numbers before leaving, and you could call when you think you're about an hour away from being able to get to the restaurant. And no, you are not mistaken, I too have a 5 year old boy who will be thrilled to meet a new friend that will be on the Mickey boat with him.

So here's the scoop. One year from today, I turn the big '40'.

So this would mean today is your birthday!!:) :) :cake: Hope it's been great!
