May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

I just ordered 4 of those bracelets from the ebay seller in Hawaii. My kids each want one and I got one for me so we have 1 extra if we meet someone who needs one.:goodvibes

CruisinEars I agree with you I like the green and white flowers. I might have to get some pointers from you about selling on Ebay. I've always wanted to learn how.

I also like your idea Misslissa about if your bracelet has a design on it you don't like to turn it inside out. Then you could pick them up just about anywhere, maybe even free.

Brilliant!
So its lime green accents, bracelets and all. That will make it easy to spot us all!

I have just ordered us the Hawaiian wristbands also
Emailed the seller and he is prepared to ship to UK, just waiting for the total amount:confused3

I might look for a lime green hair scrunchy also :)

I have to own up and say we are still dithering re the trips.
Key West is easy, we will do our own thing and can taste the pie already. We have a personal mission here. Each time we have visited Universal Studios in the past we had some Key Lime Pie from the same place:worship: , a family tradition its true to say. Although it seems that all is now changed and the pattissserie/pie place may be no more. But the taste lingers! So we are on a mission.

So, Castaway Cay, again is an easy on for us. Walk and talk and chill. Swim and sun on the adult beach :cool2:

But we are still on open verdicts for Cayman and Cozumel. We are well experienced snorkellers with own kit. Love sun and sand and away from crowds. Fit enough to not worry about walking a few miles albeit perhaps more slowly  we are not 21 any more  . We don't do organised trips normally ,prefer a taxi to the local beach option. But we do love Disney organisation and Disney peoples company, so would seriously consider Disney excursions. What is everyone else doing for Cozumel and Cayman?

Lyn

Lyn,

We have a private 5 hour charter booked in Grand Cayman. It is the Eco Outrage tour and offered through Island Marketing. The captain will basically take us where ever we want to go, but the basic tour includes a stop at Stingray City, Starfish Beach, a snorkeling stop, Rum Point for lunch, a trip through the Mangrove forest and anything else we might want.

On Cozumel we are doing Chankanaab and the Royal Dolphin Swim at noon. For the rest of the day will will most likely explore the park and maybe do a bit of shopping. I want to bring back a big bottle of vanilla as I love to bake.

Key West we are not planning anything and on Castaway Cay you will find us camped out for the day at Serenity Bay. I personally plan on being one of the first people off the boat to snag at least one if not 2 hammocks for our little group.

Linda

I also have ordered the Hawaiian bracelets for both of us. :cool1:

We are doing the same thing in Key West and Castaway Cay.

For GC, we have decided on the Island Tour and Stingray City Snorkeling. We have never been snorkeling, I've actually only been in the ocean ONCE and so it'll be good experience.

For Cozumel, we hope to do a little shopping to and will also be visiting Chankanaab. Here is the link: http://www.cozumelparks.com/eng/parks-chankanaab.asp

Many people recommend it. And, it seems like you can easily spend the day there. The taxi ride is about $12 from the port.

Anyone else following the Magic engine problems threads on the DCL forum?

Wow... Some people are getting pretty hot under the collar. Geesh.

I'll be happy getting to the boat, on the boat, and it being a longer than 4 days cruise with no ability for work to contact me or DH. :woohoo: Kiddo and DH are going with me, and my Mom has instructions for if the kennel calls her.

Beyond those hopes, I'd just like some Key Lime pie on a stick and a kid who loves the Oceaneer's Club. :thumbsup2 Oh, and no medical evacuations for my family, please! :rotfl:

I hereby refuse to freak out. Anybody else feel the same way? Linda, I'll buy you a Konk Kooler, if ya need it. :)

Oh, and it probably helps that DH hates water, so he stands in the water up to his ankles and glares at the water when we go to the beach or to the pool. It's pretty funny to watch. He spends hours in the shower, if you let him, but ya can't MAKE him enjoy sunshine and sea shells!!! :rotfl: The water has to be warm for him, I guess.

Hi eveyone:wave:

Thanks for sharing your plans Linda and Melissa :goodvibes
I had seen the Chankanaab park, and liked the look of it. Finally got DH to have a look at the pics and info this evening and he's well impressed, so we have decided thats another planning item off the list!
Just GC now, a bit more reading to do methinks.:surfweb:

I do so love the planning part of holidays, its half the fun!
The Ebay guy in Hawaii is shipping me two bracelets as we speak. Another thing done and crossed off my list. Am on a boring 2 day course at the moment, and have been concentrating more on my planning lists than the subject matter :rolleyes1

The engine issues with the Magic is a little worrying, but hey, surely there's time to fix ALL the engines before we leave..fingers crossed :worried: hope!

DH has asked about it and has decided we shall be philosophical, if its meant to be and all that.
He reminds me that health and safety must come first...I guess he's right there! I feel sorry for people who have had the bad luck to miss CC second and third time around though. Missing it on one cruise would be a disappointment, but a repeat..ooooo noooooooooo!

After our first cruise, we had to learn to go with the flow. A brief as possible recap for anyone who never saw my cruise report:

After doing much research (even without having discovered this wonderful board yet) I planned for us to fly SWA from MD to FL on a flight that left here at 2:00 PM and spend the night at the Radisson with intentions to board as early as possible on embarkation day. We primed DS4 (at the time) for his first airplane trip with books, TV, discussions, etc. and he was really excited until it was actually time for preboarding. As we walked the gangway and approached to door of the airplane, he started to freak out! We got him on the plane, and I thought we'd be able to calm him before it was time to take off, but no go. Finally, DH and I looked at each other and he said, "This ain't happening." We took ourselves off the plane and set about finding out how to retrieve our checked luggage. The girl at the baggage claim customer service counter asked us when our cruise was, and when we told her we had 24 hours, she said, "You've got to get to that ship! Take a train, or get in your car and drive!" So we got our car and started driving, only to discover that the transmission was going (first problem we've ever had with the car in 4 years!). DH gets on the phone with a friend and says, "Find me a train that will get us to Orlando by tomorrow afternoon!" Turns out, the Amtrak Silver Meteor runs between Richmond and Orlando from 10 PM to 12:55 PM the next afternoon. The car gets us to Richmond, we make it (only 20 mins. late) to Orlando the next day, Tiffany Towncars picks us up and drives us to MCO to get our luggage, then continues on to Port Canaveral. We board the ship at 3:30, hit our stateroom, and head up to the safety drill. :faint:

So I agree, I'm happy to get on the boat and stay on the boat with no emergency evacuations. :goodvibes

Hi there,

I asked my TA (Dreams) about the timechanges.
Here is my mail and her answer.

Hopes this helps.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
My mail:
----------
Hello Merrie,

There is on the Dis boards a discussion about the times changed on the Western cruise.

Key West: Was 11:30 am - 7:30 pm, Now 1:45 pm - 7 pm
Grand Cayman: Was 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Now first tender at 9 am, last tender from Grand Cayman leaves at 4 pm
Cozumel: Was 9:30 am - 6:30 pm, Now 10:30 am - 6:30 pm
The times are from the 2/23/08 Western.

Could you tell me if there is a time change or that this was a single time change??

Thanx Yvette

The answer:
---------------
Hi Yvette,

I just spoke with an agent at the Disney Cruise Line and it looks like that may have been a one-time
change unless the ships have not updated their times in Disney's computer system. The times she gave me
are:

Key West---1030am to 7:45pm
Grand Cayman---6:15am to 5:00pm
Cozumel---8:45am to 6:45pm
Castaway Cay--8:15am to 5:00pm

She did say these are the arrival times and departure times to and from the island and that normally you
are able to be off the ship within an hour of the arrival time and that you normally need to be back on the
ship about 45 minutes prior to the sailing time--that may vary according to the port you are in but will give
you an idea of the times you will be at the island. Again, these can change at anytime if the cruise line has
to alter them for some reason.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. Have a great day!!

Sincerely,
Merrie

Hi Everyone,

Here are our plans:

Friday:Fly in Friday. Still have not got gotten airline tickets:eek:
Rent car to Cape Canaveral
Friday night we are staying at the LaQuinta. It was only $70 and included breakfast.

Sat: husband drops us off at the port and goes to get beer and drop off the car at the rental agency. Takes shuttle back to the port:)

Key West: We have Palo brunch and our just going to bum around on our own. Might stay on board for a while and let the kids swim.

Grand Cayman: Capt. Bryans snorkle/stingray trip

Cozumel: Chankanaab dolphin discovery (surprise for my dd11)

Castaway Cay: Snorkle and beach day. Told the kids they have to go to camp for a hour so I can check out the adult beach.

That is all the plans I have made. Everything else I will just wing it. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

I have been on the Western the same week two years ago. The weather was PERFECT!

Heather

Brandie,

I may take you up on that Konk Kooler! If it was just Lisa and I, I wouldn't care but the fact that we are traveling with 4 of our friends and we have been talking up this cruise like crazy makes me feel a bit responsible. That is the cruise director in me I guess.

I am fairly certain that everything will be fine, but the tired ( I am on call this week ), stressed ( I am working way more than I like due to the fact that I am on call), and compulsive part of me would really like to be in control and I simply am not.

So, I am going to have a girl scout cookie, a large glass of chocolate milk and relax for the rest of the night.

Linda

Hi,

Our plans are almost identical to imheather except we DO have our plane tickets. :thumbsup2

Flying in Friday, renting a car and staying at the Radisson. Rental car drop off is only 3 blocks from the hotel so DH will be taking care of that. Shuttle in the morning from hotel to port.

Key West: Key lime pie on a stick and Southernmost point are priorities. Plan to just bum around mostly. My ds is in 4th grade and they have been studying the states. Since we are pulling them out of school for a couple of weeks might as well do something educational. My ds did his report on Florida and we made Key lime pie for the culminating State Luncheon. I had ordered key lime juice from Kermits in Key West and made 4 pies. Yummo!

Grand Cayman: Capt. Marvins Stingray City/Snorkel trip (half day)

Cozumel: Chankanaab on our own.

Castaway Cay: Beach and lounge day.

My dh wants me to keep the budget fairly low since we still have 7 days at the parks following the cruise. However, I still booked a facial at the spa on Formal day and we have Palo dinner on Pirate night. I am quite pleased with my plans. Just hope the plans don't need to be changed.

I think I've probably posted my plans on this thread before, but here they are again:

Wed., 4/30: Drive to Myrtle Beach and stay at the Dunes Village Resort (beachfront with indoor water park :) )

Fri:, 5/2: Continue on to Cape Canaveral and stay at the CI & S in a Kids Quarters suite (DS5 is stoked about the bunk bed)

Key West: Get up to guest services EARLY for a stroller so we can walk between the aquarium and the butterfly conservatory with a definite stop for chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick :thumbsup2 (does everyone recommend the Blonde Giraffe for this?)

Grand Cayman: Boatswain Beach for the day!

Cozumel: Chankanaab Park; no dolphin encounter, just some beach bummin' it and maybe some snorkeling for me!

CC: Another lazy day at the beach with float rentals and a 12:00 ressie for the Stingray encounter for the whole family (along with jdabi and crew) :woohoo:

Sorry I am so LATE to join in on the discussion!

Hi. My name is Dyan and I am a Disneyholic.

...but seriously. My DH David & I are going to be on this cruise. We are soooo excited! Our most recent DCL adventure was the 10-day Med Cruise that sailed last August.

Like misslissa & AlexandNessa, we are a childless couple, and have had similar instances with the no kids thing, especially since we LOVE Disney and go to WDW once yearly and DL twice yearly. I don't understand why people don't get it.

We are very young at heart - technically we feel like we ARE still kids (I can tell by the way my house is decorated with Disney and Snoopy and Simpsons figures all over the place AND by our huge collection of Disney T-Shirts)- and we hope to be treated accordingly!!!

Our current plans are as follows (as taken from my super awesome spreadsheet/schedule that I created):

Key West: 1) Conch Trolly on our own.
2) Eat a minimum of 3 slices of KLP (Blond Giraffe, Grand Cafe,
Blue Heaven)
3) Eat conch fritters at Original Conch Fritter stand (Duval St)

Grand Cayman: Capt Marvin's - Stingray City 8:30 am - 10:45 am

Cozumel: Xcaret Excursion

Castaway Cay: Undecided. Wanted to do banana boat ride, but shark attack last month has me worried in case I fall off.

Our info: Cabin 6136 / David 42, Dyan 35 (yes, that's Diane spelled the other way)

We hope to come to the DIS meeting at 3pm embarkation day if we can make it. We (unfortunately) arrive by plane at 9:31am the morning of the cruise and we are driving one way to the port. We are keeping our fingers crossed that something stange does not happen to delay our flight.

Also, we hope to find something lime green to wear on our wrist. Otherwise, we are hoping to find some of those Alien Green Disney paint chips from Home Depot.

:) Dyan

Welcome Dyan! I am at work right now, but I will add you to the roll call list tonight when I get home.

Hi Dyan!

Welcome aboard. Is everyone excited!!!

I went ahead and ordered custom green rubber bracelets that say "DID Maytees" from this website: www.wristbands-with-a-message.com
They were only something like $4.50 each! I'm still trying to find out if I can get those cheap wristbands to pass out at our meet for people who don't get their own. Right now the green is out of stock.

I am so flippin' excited I can barely stand it :cheer2: (How hyper am I?)

Ooops! Yes, that typo was only here! I proofread my order very carefully. Our wristbands say "DIS Maytees".
