May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

I saw the info you all have posted about the changed port times. We all booked the 10am Stingray City tour and need to be there by 9:15. The first tender is showing leaving at 9. I heard the early tenders are for the Disney excursion passengers. I sure hope we get some accurate info before the cruise if we need to change our excursion or notify Capt. Marvins. Just what we don't need, stress on vacation.

On a side note, I bought some fabric so I can make a fish extender. I hope I am able to make it.:upsidedow

Hi guys! Hello from England again.
Monitoring the Disney ships in and out of Ports

Certainly seems that the "normal" times apply, and the reduced times ashore were due to problems? But I'm not exactly sure.....hope so!
The above web site gives times in and out of the ports of call, and the Magic and Wonder can clearly be tracked?
Just catching up with everyone's ideas and plans.
We too are the sort to go with the moment.
We haven't yet booked any excursions, favouring taxis to a beach of some sorts...altho are taken with the idea of going for one major trip, likely the Tulum ruins??
Some questions to float the boats lol....
How many of yous are dressing for Pirate night my DH is asking? (We have a "subtle" plan of dress..piratey focused, altho not exactly fancy dress)
How many are dressing up for formal nights? (We will be)
Have we an idea of something that might make us recognisable to felow Dis Maytees? A special sign/logo/ribbon or something? My DH and I may not get to the boarding meeting, and we maybe a bit shy in approaching strangers....anything thoughts? Or am I a mad english lady?!
Love
Lyn

Hi Lyn- finally someone in my age group! I'm Sue (54) and my husband Tom (56) and we will be doing the Tulum ruins tour. This is our first cruise and we'd love to meet you on board. I'm not sure how Piratey we will get. Hopefully we will have a bit of a pirate look. I'll be looking for the "mad english lady".
Looking forward to seeing you on board- Sue

Lyn,

We are looking forward to meeting the "mad English lady" too! As for getting dressed up, probably not. Formal for our crowd consists of nice pants and blouses. Pirate gear will most likely be tropical shirts.....that is as piratey as we get. We are planning on hawaiian shirts and leis for the night that we are in Parrot Cay.

I can't believe how close it is....I still have SO much to do to get ready!!

We have picked out our formal wear and pirate hats... so I guess that answers both questions! :goodvibes

One thing has been making me nervous though... over the past couple of weeks, I have met several people through my job that have been on Disney cruises. As soon as I hear that, I get excited and start asking lots of questions! :wizard: Of course, they oblige and love that I am interested and excited and happily answer. Then, they ask the big question: Do you have kids?

I say no.

I always get a puzzled look and sigh. Maybe even a little confusion...

This coming from people have been on the cruise! And, even Disney fanatics?!?! How is this possible? :confused3

I'm used to the fact that some people like to roll their eyes when I suggest that I love DISNEY WORLD... But, I am used to that. Usually that includes a giggle and a knowing smile. :flower3: Lately, reactions to me and DH going on the cruise... has been a little curious.

Can someone assure me that even though we dont' have kids... and don't LOVE kids around every minute of the day... that we will still LOVE our cruise and our choice to go with DCL?! :woohoo: We are excited... and enjoy the Disney entertainment :3dglasses so I don't get the odd responses.

Linda doesn't have kids, and she's booked her second, longer cruise... even after meeting me and my kid... ;)

Misslissa ... hubby and I don't have kids either. We get the same thing. I stopped apologizing for it a long time ago. Most of the people who look aghast that we don't have kids and are cruising Disney are the same ones who ask, "but, who will take care of you when you're old?!!!!! (gasp!!!)?" As if that is the only reason to have kids. Don't sweat it! Mike and I like to cruise Disney, because we found the kids to be well-entertained and therefore, well-behaved. Plus, they are one of the few cruiselines who actually ENFORCE the adults-only areas. On many other cruiselines, we've found that the kids aren't as well-behaved (probably because their kids programs are inferior), and they provide only lip-service to the "adults-only" pools/areas, if they even have them. Have you ever tried to enjoy a sea day on a HAL ship at the aft pool? First, HAL is known for being an old-fogey line (it's really not, but their children's programs are hardly up to par, particularly on the longer cruises). Second, the aft pool is **supposed** to be adults-only, but it's never enforced. We have spent many a sea day at the aft pool on HAL listening to a child scream, "Mom!!!!! Mom!!!!! Look at me!!!! LOOK AT ME!!!!! I SAID LOOK AT ME, MOM!!!!!!!" as he or she is running and jumping into the aft pool. That just doesn't happen on Disney. If you enjoy WDW, you'll enjoy cruising Disney. And honestly, it's nobody's business why you don't have kids or don't have kids yet AND you're cruising Disney. :goodvibes

We are going full out pirate! I've got costumes for all three of us---of course, I'm a former drama teacher, so I'm all about the costumes. :thumbsup2 We're also going formal, but I'm going back and forth about suit or tux for DH. I was thinking of going ahead and buying him a tux, since we will certainly take more cruises and he occasionally has a work related black tie event he has to attend. I dunno...you can get pretty good prices online. I've got a little black suit for DS, and I ordered a really cute vest and bowtie set for him from ebay that goes with my dress ( I know, I know how anal I am!!).

lyn9856 wanted to know how we can recognize each other if we don't attend the meet at 3:00. If you're all interested, I found a site that has really inexpensive green rubber bracelets (for those who didn't know, lime green is the official DIS board color). I could get them if you're interested and hand them out at the meet. That way those who aren't at the meet can look out for people onboard wearing the bracelets and will feel comfortable walking up an saying "Hi!":wave2:

Melissa, you are going to LOVE your cruise!!! DH and I would definitely go even if we didn't have our wonderful little boy! We saw lots of couples all around the ship without children. Whether they emabarked on their own or had their kids busy with all the children's activities onboard, they were enjoying all that DCL has to offer adults. I know there are plenty of things I'm sorry I didn't get to do last time because I was busy taking care of my son. I'm hoping to be able to work it out this time to visit some of the adults only night clubs at some point! :woohoo:

Misslissa,

Brandie is correct.....we do not have kids. In fact my motto is "love them, spoil them, GIVE THEM BACK!" I am an Aunt to 11 and adore it. I am a die hard Disney fanatic and former Cast Member which is why I chose a Disney cruise in the first place.

When we booked our 4 day Wonder cruise last year I was not sure I was going to like cruising. Well.....4 days later I cried as I was leaving the ship. It was the best vacation we had ever been on. Activity enough for me, relaxation enough for Lisa and STRICTLY enforced adult areas. Serenity Bay on CC was just heaven for both of us.

Last year our friends looked at us and said " a DISNEY cruise??" with a sneer. Now they are sailing with us. This came after seeing our pictures and hearing Lisa's account of blissfully child free areas.

Overall I found that the kids onboard seemed to be better behaved and kept really busy. There was only one night at dinner in Animator's palate that it got a little out of hand and a little girl tried to squeeze in between her table and ours and her doll knocked a glass of water in Lisa's lap. Our servers were on top of it right away and her family bought us a drink and shared their celebration cake with us.

By the way Brandie....Fiona is adorable and was a total pleasure to meet and spend time with as were you. Looking forward to seeing you guys SOON!!

Linda

:woohoo: Thanks guys! :goodvibes

The biggest thing I had a hard time understanding was that these people were Disney fans. Oh well!!!!!! :wizard: We're still excited.

Also, Bobbi, I was thinking the same thing!!!!!!

I found these on Ebay and thought they could work and I emailed the guy the other day to find if he had lots of them and he does...

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8928990533&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

We could all purchase our own for ID purposes... or, if you wanted to and they were cheap enough, you could pick them up.

Those look really nice! At that price, I'm afraid we would all have to buy our own. The ones I found are really just plain rubber bands, and you can get 20 for $2.99 in adult or child sizes.

Anyone else interested and want to get the cool ones from ebay? :)

These sound good Bobbi! I was limited 'cause in Canada it is hard to find shipping. Rereading my post, I realize it sounds like I wanted you to buy them!!!! Sorry... I meant maybe we could each grab our own... :rotfl:

Thanks for the compliments, Linda! I can't wait to see you again, either! :cool1: It was very nice to run into a friend so often. It was nice to share smiles with you, Dawn, and Cat and get the inside info--it was like having a spy network on the good stuff! :thumbsup2

Talk to you later... I should really listen to my conference call.... :rotfl:

Melissa,

I really like this guys bracelets. I also like the green with white flowers. If you are not wanting to pay shipping to Canada, you can either have them sent to me and I can bring them to you or I can buy some and you can repay me. I live in WA state so shipping from Hawaii is cheaper than shipping to the East coast. Btw, I am an ebay seller with over 700 100% feedback so I shouldn't have any problem with the purchase. LMK what you want to do.

If you weren't too concerned about design, Oriental Trading Company has some rubber bracelets that are green and inexpensive. OK, on the down side, they say CLASS OF 2008:confused: , but then, the up side is that you can give your bracelet to a graduate after the cruise!:rotfl: They are a pack of 24 for $5.95. When we lived in Omaha, I shopped at their store often--great place to get junk for Halloween, kids parties and kids groups.

I'll probably see if I can order the cheap ones I found (they're out of stock right night, but I'll see if they can get them in before the cruise), so that people who miss this thread or don't get around to getting bands can wear them if they want. I like the green ones on ebay, so will probably order those for us!

I'm helping my mom throw a surprise 25th anniversary party for my sister and brother-in-law tonight, and I've been pretty consumed with the planning for that, so after today I'll really start getting down and dirty with my obsessive planning!

That's a great idea Bobbi! :goodvibes :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

So why not... to identify themselves... everyone just try to get your hands on some green bracelets. They don't have to be the same! And, if they have wording, you can just wear them inside out.

Hey! Thanks for the offer.

I'm actually going to go with these ones from Ebay because they are some of the only people who DO actually ship to Canada. I found some cheaper ones elsewhere, like the ones Bobbi found, but they don't. I like the Hawaiian design... seems kinda "cruisy" :D :woohoo: It is getting so close!!! :dance3:
