Just another thought. DH would definitely not care about the champagne event and would be more than happy to let me go and have some Daddy time with Grace if she was not in the club. So we could make it a girly thing...or not. I'm showing up anyway with my bottle in hand!
Susie, thanks for picking up snacks...that's so sweet!
:flower: :grouphug: :drinking: :bounce:

Margaret...I'm all for an afternoon of women winos on board! I agree that lots of us mommies need the time when kids will be in the club to do this one. My plan for the first kid get-together was to have the kids meet/play and start highlighting their Navigators with their new friends....I figured if the time when we have them all together we can go over the activities, they can start to have an idea of what they all want to do together. This will then give us mommies an idea of when we'll get rid of them all...LOL...and have some wino time!

Brandy- are you my long lost sister? After all, I think your mom and my mom are long lost relatives! You are so super organized...I love ya! As far as the get together at your "place"...are you ready for all the DIS group (there are like 100 of us!)? If we get too crowded, might need to move the party up to the deck or something! Thanks for the first night party offer, though...sounds fun!

I bought some of my favorite WA wine (chard)...saw some WA bubbly (never seen that before) but held off on that as I think mom will cover me on the bubbly w/better stuff from CA. Also, Mom, do you want me to bring a WA red for you?

Woops...Susie, remind me you need two of the eyepatches when we get together and I'd be happy to share! I'll have plenty to go around!

Hi Moley:

Don't forget to (HOPEFULLY) look in your room when you board. Hope I am successful in my venture ------------- I am going to try with all my heart

We will actually be at the port for a while after disembarking for some festivies that we understand will be taking place.

Wish I knew what you looked like, I would look for you. OH WELL, let's see what happens

Anyone bringing a Cork thing? Can we bring one onboard or is it considered a possible "weapon"?

I'll have to cork thing covered! I wasn't an Explorer Scout for nothing (yes, I know Explorers were the Boy Scouts. We went co-ed way before they did officially!)

He's in the Marine Corps and is stationed in GA right now. We only see each other about every 6 week. But he should be stationed back out here by September, and then...who knows. I still may not see him as much. But I'd rather not see him while he's in GA, then not see him while he's in Iraq or Afghanistan. But hopefully he'll stay here as long as possible.

Brandy, I'll keep your soldier in my prayers!

I can believe it's only three days till we cruise. We are 90% packed including a carry-on bag with 12 bottles of wine and a cork screw. We also put a cork screw in our bags we are checking. We will not be posting while onboard the ship- no computers or phones or pagers- I'm escaping it all.

Alex, bon voyage!!!!!! But, what will do without all your tips????? OH, and are you going to save some of that wine for our part of your adventure???? :rotfl2:

Another thought, I think the wine tasting and champagne get together, should be 2 separate events. I'd really like to do both, but not at the same time! :rolleyes1 . Since some of us Moms have young kids, we might want to do these two later in the week, during the afternoon maybe and hopefully the kids will be engaged in the kids club or we could even do it by the pool??:confused3
What do you all think?

I agree! I'd like to have two events. I've started keeping track of who is a wino and who is a bubble-head (or in cases like mine - BOTH!!!!). I'll publish the list by this weekend. I like the idea of champagne in the afternoon. It just seems so sophistocated :rotfl: :rotfl2: :drinking: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

OK, I only had to go back 28 pages (YIKES!!!!!) to get a list of wine and champagne drinkers. Here's what I found...

Hey Guys,

I'd love to join the bubble heads, but I don't want to desert the family.

We may be able to plan to get together at some of the adult shows in the evenings. We definitely want to get together at the Pirate Party. I imagine that we'll be the band of partying pirates. The 70's show was hysterical and there were very few people there. Diversions or the Cove Cafe are other places for nightly get togethers. We can catch up on everyone's day in one of the adult only clubs. The kids' clubs put mats on the floor and the kids can camp out there until Mom & Dad pick them up. Brett loves to stay in the clubs in the evening to watch a movie while laying on the mats.

Consider yourself added to the list. We'll figure something out. After all, you called us the same thing I was going to - bubble heads! :rotfl:

Hi everybody!
I received the girls Formal dresses today in the mail. They are SO beautiful. Thanks to "lbgraves" on the heads up on where to get beautiful dresses at a reasonable price.

I have been ironing the girls (and my clothes) and hope to start loading things in suitcases this week! I will just have to keep in closed around Ava :flower:

Brandy, a party in your room sounds great if we can get changed to early dining (I'm waitlisted). What type of room do you have? I hope it is big ;)

I think a champagne party and a wine party would be great.
I think going over the Navigators with the kids is a great idea! Having them talk about and pick things tlhey are interested in should make going to the Club more fun and more "their idea" :goodvibes

17 days and counting!!

So Ellen, do I need to go look for 70s clothes too??? I was just wondering if there would be an "era" night (I was hoping for 80s since I probably still have stuff left from then, LOL).

Mom...I could be talked into being a bubblehead too, but it depends on what the "drink of the day" is that day as I might prefer it! I'm not much into the bubbly (or the wine for that matter) but would love to hang out with grown ups for a change!

Sure, you can join the grown-ups and you can drink anything you want as long as it doesn't come out of a sippy-cup!

Challada - My mom and I are dying for some adult company as well. (At least I know I am)Remeber, we BOTH run daycares. :scared1: Oh, and of course I'm ready for the DIS group. The question is...are you guys ready for ME?!!? :cool1:

Suesings - I'll have to get the spec's on the suite again from my friend, Jennifer. She was kind enough to let us use her suite for the bash. She's such a sport. :cutie: She's even bought a bunch of lime green wear to match all of our friends. She's pretty quick on the uptake. You guys will LOVE her.

Grammie - Thanks for the prayers. And you are cracking me up! I can't WAIT to meet you. :hyper2:  You seem like "the life of the party" type of gal.
:rotfl: <--grammiegail.
You too Challada!

Oh, and you guys are gonna have to school me on "bubble head" and "wino" type drinks. I've always been more of a mixed drink kind of gal, myself. Anything that looks like Kool-aid and comes with an umbrella in it is right up my alley!

Grammie, could you place me on the Wine list too! :drinking: Actually, I'll drink anything BUT beer.... :drinking1 its a long story that involves my fraternity... :headache: :crazy2:  lets leave it at that! LOL...

Brandy- we ARE sisters from a previous life, I swear! I love those little umbrella drinks myself and will probably just bring my wine to hand over so I can get the "drink of the day" myself! I didn't realize you and your mom did a daycare...I feel your pain (I teach preschool and am a special services person in early childhood).

Legal- I hear you on the beer...I'm not a fan myself basically for the same reason, though for me, it was hanging out with those bad frat boys while I was in high school (great to grow up in a college town...don't tell my mom!)...that's why I never pledged a sorority since I had already done that whole thing way before college!

Since work over the next two days will be crazy, I'm doing tomorrows mickey a little early....

Hidden Mickey Time:
Hidden Mickey #12....
Even famous artists can add a mickey in their design...look straight up for the blue mouse hidden in the atrium.

Well, you know what they say..."the nut never falls far from the tree"? I'm from a long line of strong women who grab life with both hands and ring it dry. My 85 year old mom (with 2 artificial knees, 2 artificial hips, and rods in her back) and I went on vacation for her birthday. In 11 days, she was in 6 airports and on 3 different air carriers. We visited San Francisco (near where we are), Denver, and Las Vegas. She volunteers at the hospital 2 days a week and does water aerobics 3 days a week. Now, her mother was born and raised in the country where she cooked for the family and the "hired hands", helped "birth" the neighbors babies, helped to start the Farm Bureau in Sangamon County, sat on the hospital board, and died on vacation at 94. I'm just keeping the tradition alive! Chris has a harder time.....she has to use a lot of her energy being mom, driver, pack leader, etc. for 2 younguns. I just have to keep Grampa fed and dressed. While that's not always easy, at least he knows were the fridge and microwave are and can drive himself to meetings! :rolleyes1

Same rules as for Chris.....you can join the adults and drink anything you want just as long as it's not from a sippy cup! As for bubble-headed and wino mixed drinks, may I suggest mimosas (champagne and orange juice) and wine coolers (white wine with club soda and a splash of lime juice).

What beer haters?, The horror, but if you are talking about that weak american style swill I too shutter if it is the only thing to drink. On the other hand, fine handcrafted beverage from a gold medal winning brewer, aka The Man, can leave your tastebuds happy and cheerful. My female fans outnumber the manly beerdrinkers three to one. They enjoy the complex favors, the lite bubbles on their palates, the living on the edge with drinking Homebrew. Ladies and Gents please DO NOT refer to my fine handcrafted beverage as just Beer. I do not brew Beer I craft nectar from the gods.
The Man
PS Grammie I am sorry about not be able to fit into the Mean Green Dancin Machine, I gained weight and grew out my beard trying to get on Survivor as Mall Santa, I have dropped twenty pounds but I believe the leisure suit will have to go to goodwill. But I am still bringing the Lime Green speedos, they are so small I have room for them in our luggage and they are so streachy, and just for you I have bought lots of neon green bikini briefs to wear under my white shorts. :)
