May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera

Add me, Rebecca, and my son, Sam (5), and my grandmother Helen Marie to that list! I've already made our Alien Green nametags :bounce: I've planned to make lanyards for the nametag Mickeys + KTTW cards for all three of us.

Sandy, I get wicked motion sickness too  --but have faith that both of us will conquer our inner ears and make this a good trip! I'm getting the patch and the wristband in hopes that the combo will do me some good.

Is anyone thinking about the "backstage" activities yet? I think that's the one that appeals to me the most of the stuff I've read.

peace--
Rebecca

Welcome to our cruise.

How many are in your group? Any kids, all adults.

:earsgirl:

There are 10 in our herd... 8 adults, :jumping1:
Alyssa 12 :cheer2: and Andrew 15  .... Got any email pals for them?
Sandy :earsgirl:

Lara (me), DH-Blake, DD10-Sarah and DD5-Katie.

Welcome Sandy. I'm sure Sarah would love to have an e-mail pen pal. I believe they would be in the same group. Sarah is very outgoing.

I used the wristbands for a prior cruise - I was three months pregnant and had terrible morning, afternoon and evening sickness. They worked really well for me and the ship was doing some serious rocking. I also think the purser's office carries bonine (sp?) to help with the seasickness.

I've never tried the patch, so I can't comment on how that works.

Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome Rock and Mommy! This is getting very exciting. It's good that we're going to have a large group of dissers to check in with. My dh signed up to send reports back to All Ears while onboard. We haven't heard back whether or not they're going to accept reports from him. If you don't already get their emails you guys should sign up for them. They are good source for all things Disney. DH has become such a Disney addict in the past year.

We would love to see the cat 3 suite. Thanks for offering Rock. I'll bring something. :grouphug:

rcclap, what excursions are you looking into doing with Grandma? We're traveling with my parents who can't walk for extended periods of time. So far, we doing the Folklore tour in Mazatlan (I think).

We have ordered the petit fours, Fairy Tale Champagne, cake and decorations for our cabin. The chocolate covered strawberries are yummy. Dh loves the pecan petit four. It's so cool to enter the cabin for the first time and see everything all setup for you. The flowers sound great.! We've never done that. Keep in mind that you won't be able to take them off the ship. There are agriculture laws governing what can be taken off the ship. They won't let you take fresh fruit off the ship on disembarkation day either.

Grammie, What is the word about Pirate Night? Has Disney said one way or the other whether Pirate Night is on this cruise?

My husband will be driving up from San Diego on Friday night after work and we will want to check in at our hotel at the port. I doubt the traffic will allow us to run over to Disneyland, but keep us informed and we'll play it by ear. For those of us staying at the port, anyone want to try to get together in the evening, perhaps for a cocktail? I don't want to stay up too late because I want to try and be awake when the Magic arrives.

Our herd will be in staterooms # 6101, 6103, 6105, 6107, and 8078... Anyone near us? Any advise on what to pack? or What NOT to pack? Is there a luggage LIMIT? Can the kids bring their Playstations/X-box etc? Are there tv hook-up possibilities? Or should we bring the tv too?

Sandy, the backstage thing is one of the three "tracks" of entertainment activities that the crew plans out for each sailing. We get daily updates each morning of what's going to be happening on the ship each day, so we can all schedule our time how we want it. The backstage stuff is like going to the theatre and seeing how they stage the performances and things like that. The other two didn't sound as interesting to me. but they are :

The Art of Entertaining - Learn the art of gracious entertaining, from creating a menu of innovative culinary creations and pairing wines with meals, to designing professional-looking invitations and party decor.

Navigating the Seas -- Learn what unique techniques were used in creating the Disney Cruise ships, as well as how these floating resorts operate.

I'm most likely going to be on the ship most of the time, because my DG is mobility-challenged and I'll need to stay close to her. So, the backstage stuff sounded like I could see some cool things and still be on the ship.

peace--
Rebecca

Hi Sandy,

There is parking available at the port. The cost is $11 per day. Regarding what to pack, GrammieGail made up an excellent packing list. Take a look on some of the previous pages or do a search on this thread.

As far as bringing X-box/playstations you may want to call Disney Cruise line (800) 951-3532 and ask them. I'm pretty sure the TVs are set-up for video connections as many people want to view the video they've taped during the day.

Sandy, we're right around the corner from you in 6622 (past the elevators on the opposite side of the ship).

My mom went on a 12-day Celebrity cruise last December and she found a great packing list/guide online that I thought I would offer to share, but it's nine pages of a Word document so I don't want to just put it into a posting. If you would like to see it, please let me know where I can email it to for you; I couldn't figure out a way to attach it here! Of course if you know how to attach something to a posting here, let me know and I will do it!

:worship: Please, Please, send me this list... I'm freaking out:scared: here wondering how to pack for us. I don't want to forget anything...

We're Neighbors! Now you will know who we are when we go noisily by... we tend to be a loud happy bunch.. :jumping1:
If you could please email that packing list, sandysplayhouse@yahoo.com, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks Rebecca

To those of you who've asked, I have emailed the packing list my mom found...I sure hope it's helpful! I have started the process of getting trial sizes of things, setting things aside, using the cruise as an excuse to shop for new things...oh who am I kidding, I'll shop at the drop of a hat for no reason at all! :thewave:

Thanks to all who inputted on the food, decorations, flowers pre-ordering question I had posted. I have decided to have a bouquet delivered to the room :flower3: because I know that will make my DG happy and I like the thought of having flowers in the room anyways.

So, I'm looking for a non-shore excursion but still going ashore adventure buddy for Mazatlan or Cabo; I don't want to be tied down to a shore excursion's schedule (or price!) but would love some company to stroll, sight-see, shop. Anyone interested? Alternatively, a group interested--we could plan an outing? Just let me know!

SIX WEEKS FROM TOMORROW we leave for Cali! WhhOOoooOooHOOooOOo!!

peace-
Rebecca

WOW...we've been a busy group! I'm so glad we will have so many folks for our ice cream party....it's going to be FUN!

I think friday afternoon at Grand Californian might be a nice get together for those pre-cruise at DL folks...3 sounds good to me too.

Sandy- My DS is 10...not quite preteen but seems like he's headed there. He'll be glad the boat is not all "babies" as he's heard so much about his younger sister's PACK of girls that will be aboard. I know Tyler and Toby are in that age group too (Gail's boys).

THANKS ALL!

Here's a thought:

Since some of us will be at DL BEFORE the cruise, should we have a small "howdy" meet? I've seen a couple of folks mention they were hitting the park day or two before the cruise (I know, some folks are doing park AFTER so this wouldn't work for you guys). I think Friday in the park will be BUSY as folks will be arriving for the holiday weekend...so might be a good afternoon to get drinks poolside (before we hit the crowded pools on board). Grand Californian has a nice poolside cafe (open to anyone) that maybe we could all gather in....or we can swim where we are staying at CCI (pool is in middle of complex and is small, warm and nice for families).
Let me know your thoughts!

I think a pre-cruise get together is great! I vote for the Candy Cane Inn pool.....I'm sure we can sneak you in. We have snuck (sneaked???) in before. 5 of us are already staying there in 2 rooms. So what's a few more.....after all we are just an exstended family....right????

pirate: Ahoy everyone!
We will be first time cruisers on May 28... never been on any cruise whatsoever therefore we are all VERY excited to be going on the Disney Magic. Although... :guilty: I get really sea sick just looking at moving water, even from land... I even get deathly ill on the Mark Twain at Disneyland, so I don't know what I was thinking when I booked this cruise except that I knew it was the FIRST time the Magic would be on the West Coast so I had to do it.
:

Sea sickness - about 15 years ago I was on my first cruise (of 2 so far). I used a scopalomine (sp???) patch. Check with your pharmacy/MD to see if they are still available. The downside is enlarged pupils so your eyes are sensitive to sun and no drinking. But, if you have to weigh sunglasses and sobriety vs. hurling?????? You make the decision!
