We still have not seen the new Star Wars movie. It doesn't look like we'll be able to get to it before we leave. Oh well, it will be fun to see it when we get back.

I have this funny story about Star Wars. Way back in the 80's, a bunch of us were waiting in line to see the movie during opening weekend. Everyone was so excited and we had been in line for hours. Well, when people came out of the theater and it was almost time for us to watch the next show, a kid who had just finished watching it yells out to our crowded line "Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father". His dad had to hold the kid for his safety as there were many people in the line upset that the surprise was ruined and wanted to go after the kid. :rotfl2:

On the subject of funds, I am bringing probably too much in cash, but it's because this is my first trip ever out of the country (except to Vancouver when I was about 2) and I want to do some shopping. I think the exchange rates still favor the American dollar, and I would like to get some sterling silver jewelry; and some tequila; and other whatnots. I am not comfortable using my credit cards off the ship so cash is my companion. I hope I don't spend it all; I'm bringing about $300 total.

My grandmother who is paying for this trip is notoriously bad at appropriately tipping, so I'm also thinking I may cover some of the tips onboard. I want to make sure our staff is well taken care of, especially anyone who has to deal with my son and GM. Of course I'm a sweet natured easy going angel :rotfl:

Bought the wine today and my one bottle of booze that I'll be packing somewhere in my stuff. I need to grow an extra arm or two!

see y'all Saturday!

peace--
Rebecca

Way back in the 80s, when my DH saw Empire Strikes Back he said there were some teens that did the same thing to the people waiting in line. The funny thing was, they didn't believe it! In my personal opinion, that was one of my favorite movie scenes. When our DD Katie (5) was born, that was the first thing Blake said to her, "Katie (breath), I am your father." It was a great moment. :sunny:

This is the quietest I've seen this board in a long time. Hopefully, everyone is having a safe trip to LA. Can't wait to meet all you guys!!!!!!!!!!

We're still here and not leaving until Saturday morning. We live less than an hour from the port.

I guess we're not done yet with our shopping and packing. DW and the kids decided at the last minute to make a quick trip to Downtown Disney right now at the World of Disney store buying some last minute things. I'm glad the kids still don't have an idea what's going on.

Anybody else still around?

Curt and I set a goal of getting the packing done tonight (Wednesday) so that we could actually relax tomorrow night. We made it. We had to take turns spreading everything out on the bed. I went first. I had to put back about half of what I had laid out.

Here's what I did for the stuff I was concerned about wrinkling. I had one hanger that had another hanger hanging off of it for slacks/skirts. I put my dressy slacks and skirts on the bottem hanger and then starting hanging the other stuff on the top hanger (6 outfits) all over the top of the other. I started with the sleeveless stuff and worked outward to the suit jacket. I put the whole thing in a clear bag and it tri-folds into the suitcase.

Then I pulled it back out and hung it in the closet. I can hang it in the car on the way up to LA and in the hotel for the night. Gosh, what if I get to the port and realize that all my clothes are still hanging in my closet in San Diego? :rotfl2:

I hope it works, because I really don't want to spend my time ironing on the ship.

I got my door sign and my name tags done also. I think I'm all set, and I may actually get some sleep tonight!

It looks like they are going to let us off work a little early, so we may actually be in San Pedro by 3pm on Friday. I packed our annual passes just in case we decide to try to make a run over to DL. I think we may just tour the port and relax though.

This is Sandy at Brandy's house, I'm watching her late evening child while Brandy is on her way to the airport to pick up her DH.. we are all very excited to have him back home, even if it is only for the duration of the cruise.

I haven't gotten very far in the packing as I keep going to Wal-Mart for last minute things and pick up a few TOO many extra items. Brandy and I are still working on our signs, and still have to pick up the helium tank for our balloons. I feel that our signs won't be BIG enough for anyone to read from far away... I want Captain Thord to be able to read them and honk his Mickey horn at us when they are pulling into port Saturday morning. I have our name tags done and we all have our lime green ready to wear. I've got my door stuff ready to put up and I can't think of anything else I need to do although I KNOW I'm forgetting something. I know that I won't get any sleep tomorrow night as I'll be going over my lists backwards and forewards. My most crutial thing to pack is still in the file cabinet ...Passports! I KNOW I have to put them in my bag along with the cruise docs, but I can't decide WHAT I want to carry them in! So there they sit, in the file cabinet! I can almost see us having to drive BACK to get them on Saturday! :sad2:

My son Trae has yet to show any signs of packing clothes... he is more concerned about packing his gaming system and how many games to bring. What's a mother to do?! (for those of you old enough to remember that commercial) I threatened him that tomorrow is his LAST day to get himself together. He says he is waiting for Steve (Brandy's DH) to arrive then he will pack. :smooth:

We are leaving on Friday, and we just might make the 3pm GC meeting, but my DH is doubtful... He thinks we will get tied up in traffic. We'll see. Hopefully I'll still have some hair left on Friday as I may pull all of it out if Trae doesn't get his clothes packed soon AND I can remember to pack up the cruise docs and passports! I'm looking forward to meeting :grouphug: everyone, this thread has been wonderful, it has certainly made the time go faster. Thanks to all. See you on Friday/Saturday.

I Want to wish everyone that is still here a great cruise I hope you guys will pop in now and then and keep us posted on what is happen on the cruise for you will be having the same cruise as everyone that will follow you. I hope lots of questions and will ask them when you get back if you don't have a chance to post during the cruise. Happy Sailing

The Man is still lurking on the boards, trying to smuggle more beer and beads in my bags. Right now they are empty to my darling dismay I pack at lunch tomorrow and surprise her. We are leaving for Californa Friday morning hopefully before its tops a 100'

Hey, who of you will be at the Sheraton Hotel Friday night? We will be... perhaps we can have dinner together or something...?

I am glad I finally found this post thanks to suesings sending me a link... Can't wait to meet you guys. I hear there are a few things planned , I plan to be there at 3:00 with my lime green on. Are you guys bringing family members there too?? I don't know that all of my family will come but a few might. Where do I find out what has been planned, not that there is much planned, I just don't know.... Can't wait until saturday. This has been a whole year in coming, and I just can hardly wait. The sadest part is, I have been so incredibly busy with my job, that I haven't even been able to pack yet, but luckily I got it all done today, so I will be ready to start tomorrow, isn't that awful... I am a photgrapher, and I have had too many senior portraits to do, as well, as a HUGE dance recital with 450 girls and a few boys, so I am finally done, staying up until 3AM just to hurry and get it done so I can just relax on the ship. See you all soon, Judy

Curt and I will be there. We were thinking of walking over to the San Pedro Brewing Company for dinner. They are at 331 West 6th Street, which looks like just a block and a half from the Sheraton. wmjivey is there also and "The Man" expressed an interest. Here is their web site:

What time would be good? We are flexible for time.

:sunny: FINAL HOT TIP FOR THOSE OF YOU STILL HANGING ON ~ #19 Thu - Looking for a little privacy? There is a little-known outdoor nook ~ complete with comfy chairs ~ on deck 7 aft.
Is that the dumbest hot tip or what? I mean, i think we already have a meet planned there and everything. DH made it in alright last night. :cloud9: We didn't get to bed till well after midnight as we had to make the mandatory burrito stop, and when he got here I drug him around the house showing him everything I'd done to it since he'd been here last. Showed him is pirate wig pirate: :rotfl2: . I also showed him a few minutes of the DCL Vacation Planning DVD I had. We are thinking of going into the park Friday night. Steve hasn't seen the new fireworks and I am dying to show him. He also really wants a Turkey Leg and churro. haha. Holy cow! I just realized how close we are! Barry Manilow break: Looks like we made iiiiiiiit! I love Barry. Mom and I are secretly hoping he's our singer on the ship. Like Boyz II Men are for this cruise. You KNOW they have to be bringing some kind of celebs on board.

MinnieMoms -

Go back to page “84” of our thread. And check out Messages:

1) List of our Members #1248
2) Captains & Their Crew” #1249
3) Navigator #1250

Even though it's a few pages back, everything has been updated.

I just checked the dcl website and found out our room was changed to 7130. I totally freaked because we had originally got an upgrade to a cat-6 and thought maybe they had made a mistake and changed it back to a lower cat. But when I looked at the ship diagram, it looks like we got another up-grade to cat-5 yeah! Glad we booked a guarantee room. Maybe this is also because the ship isn't filled yet?

Anyhow looking forward to seeing you all on the ship, have a safe trip!
Jaime

GOOD NEWS!!! :Pinkbounc My son's suitcase is no longer in the garage! I'm hoping that he took it to fill with clothes and not just to get me off his back. Steve is home.. and he looks great. That may be the reason that Trae has moved his suitcase as he promised to pack when Steve arrived! What ever the reason, I'm glad as that is one less thing for me to stress about. Now if I could just decide on a bag for the cruise docs and passports.

Welcome to MinnieMoms :wave2: Looking forward to meeting you and your group.
