So who are these crazy people?

.
That's Brandy and Sandy with the green fingers.

I was so tired yesterday. I managed to get the laundry sorted and started, but Curt had to take over for me because I went to bed at 5pm. I got up for a short while to grab a bite to eat around 9pm and then went back to bed.

I did get all the navigators scanned in and will be sending them to Barb and Tony at their Castaway Club site.

just returned from disney's first western mex riveria cruise. as a first timer cruiser,we were impressed. disney went out of its way to ensure that everybody was happy! great ship. Cabo was best but time there was the shortest of the 3 stops. great crew- Connie in guest services went out of her way to accomodate our needs. If you get Mickael/ German as your servers, you will be impressed!

only negative, boarding took over one hour in line. hopefully disney learned and added mored checkin agents.

Loved your pictures. Thanks for posting them. I sure did enjoy meeting all of you. What a charming group you all are.

If you wondered if personalities matched from online to real life, wonder no more. Everyone was warm, funny and a delight to meet. I loved running into everyone during the week, even though I was not present at the meets after the first day.

The cruise was that much more special getting acquainted with crazy and wonderful Dis 'green people.' It was also nice seeing the large turnout onshore waving us goodbye as we left. I'll never forget it. Thanks so much for being the 'green people' so easy to spot. :teeth:

Well...we just got home today (monday) and reality is certainly back in full swing. We flew in about midnight last night and kids had to be back at school this morning. I cried when I saw my house again (the mess...not missing it) and can't believe it really is all over. I'm ready for Brian to come surprise me w/some chocolates on my pillow and a towel monkey in my bedroom, but no such luck.

I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to meet all of you! I am so thankful for this great clan I got to travel with....THANK YOU!

John & Gail- Thanks for touring with us...we had a great time...I'm going to have Alex write to the boys ASAP.

Margaret- Thanks for being so sweet all the time! It was great to recognize Grace the minute we pulled up to port!

Suesings- It was so nice to meet your family! Kelly is wonderful and I know we will see you guys again when we are back down in SF area. Thanks for sharing the pics of Bachelor! (I thought of you at the airport...Chad Lowe dropped his bags right at my feet yesterday and I kept staring at those baby blues thinking "OK, Sue got to see Bachelor, I got Chad").

Carrie- Thank you for introducing Mattie and Sammy right away at the pool! Emily loved them from day one and it was great to get to see you guys all around!

Joy- Thank you for the wonderful princess party! You are one awesome mom! Hannah and Vanessa are great girls...Emily had lots of fun with them!

Sue & Curt- Thanks for joining us at CaboWabo! Wish we could have had more time to chat!

Lara& Blake- Thank you for the great door presents! We loved each of them and couldn't believe our eyes when new ones showed up! The girls were such wonderful kids that Emily really loved them (and survived the braiding in their honor).

Ellen-Thank you for finding us right away in the port...your kids are gorgeous and very nice! I am still so proud of your Katie for giving her aunt the Ducky Goofy!

Moley- Was great to see you around...wish we could have chatted more!
Minniesmom- great to see you too...wish we'd seen you more than in passing!
Ron- Was nice to see you in passing...don't think I saw you since the first day, but hope you had fun!
Rebecca- Thanks for introducing yourself and Sam! Best wishes for school!
Brandy&Sandy- It was nice to meet you...hope you had a rocking good time!
Ty- was good to meet you at GC!
And to anyone I might have forgotten on my list...THANKS!

Finally, if anyone wants to see the pictures that I've taken, here's the website:

Much love to all

Hi everyone,
I forwarded our pictures (via Ofoto) to everyone that I had an email address for :flower:

If anyone else would like to see them, let me know!

Take care

Hello everyone! I have been dying to read and post since we got back on Saturday, but my computer...forget about it. I had to have a guy come out and giggle it around till it worked. Look what I found on the other page! I almost died laughing...

Just returned from an hour long session with Don Ducky Williams. At the end, he had a raffle for sketches he drew during the presentation. There was this rowdy group of DISers (LOL) who kept offering the winners beads! Deb
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
The Man strikes again, eh?
I just wanted to say that last week was the best week of my life. I really enjoyed meeting all the DISers. Everyone was so nice and fun! I can't wait to do it again. Although, I wish we could ALL go on the same cruise again together. :grouphug: Jedi's, thanks for all the neat glowey stuff. Right up my alley! And (PLEASE FORGIVE ME forgetting) whoever gave us the glow Disney heads, EVERYONE was SO jealous!!! I wore them to dinner and people were stopping me in the hallways everywhere I went. I don't know about you guys, but I LOVED having a tv that showed CONTINUOUS Disney programs. We would fall asleep with the tv on everynight. We would go to sleep with The Wizard of Oz and usually wake up to Sword In The Stone. And I always had the DVC channel on. :goodvibes Our server from dinner was phenominal! Sachin from India. I recommend him. Fantastic! Anyone else have him? I wasn't too fond of our assistant server-drink lady. Martyna. She was "eh". As the cruise was winding down I was talking about how Sachin basically ruined it for every other server I will ever incounter in my life. He blew the standards out of the water. Always smiling. Always cheerful, always talkative and had very good recommendations. I love him!! We were offering up money, room and board in our collective homes (remember, there were 10 of us) for him to come live with us. :teeth:

What a great cruise! It was really fun to finally put faces to all the screen names.
Jedisan/JediJazzMan-Thank you for the door presents and glow necklaces!
GrammieGail-Thanks for the great cook book!
LegalBriefs-What a fun person you are and what a fantastic pirate!
C&Ssnyders-Congratulations on all the Bingo winnings!

Our check in went very smoothly. Apparently some people had 2 and 3 hours of boarding time, but ours was very quick as was our debarkation, probably about 15 or 20 minutes total once Disney started lining us up.
We had the Early LAP rotation for our dinners and while on the subject, may I say that those meals are all 5 star meals... not Dennys quality. Our server was SACHIN from India and MARTYNA from ????both were fantastic. Well actually Sachin was Fantastic (this was his word).. Martyna was so/so... she seemed preoccupied or deep in thought perhaps concentrating on her job or had a week-long headache, not sure, but she did her job, but didn't "shine" at it like Sachin... but then I guess anyone would NOT shine next to him as he went above and BEYOND his job.

We had Pirate Night on Tuesday night and it was a blast. This being our first cruise, we were all psyched up for it and brought our stuff from home to wear. We had a great time. The party started hopping when Captain Hook showed up and took over the ship. We had fireworks and music and even a pirate ship off our port side as we departed Puerto Vallarta.

PuertoVallarta - ZipLine Excursion...
that was GREAT... I strongly recommend this for anyone that wants to do a once in a lifetime thing. It was not very physical except for the 10 minute walk at the end as it is UP-hill DUUUUUUH... I had not given it much thought that the walk would be UP-hill. THAT was exhausting! I would have paid $100 for a donkey to ride back up, but there weren't any around. :crazy2: We had team B (as in BEST) and they were all VERY nice, friendly, and helpful. They all spoke English and Spanish, and one even spoke French. The guides strapped us up and showed us how to keep from twirling as we zipped along, and they were always there to keep us from slamming into the trees at the end. They kept us laughing with jokes and pointed out the native plants and trees. Lots of interesting trivia that I don't remember as I was busy trying to take pictures and NEVER got to take one as I was distracted by the fun I was having. They also highly encourage you to leave your camera and valuables at the base camp in a locked container that they provide for your convience because IF you drop something, they aren't retrieving it for you and at times you really are about 90 feet hign in the tree tops. Plus, they want to assure that you will want to buy their video/DVD at the end of the experience. One of the guides zips along with a camcorder filming you as you go. They edit it later with music from Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible etc... so it should be a hoot to watch when we get it in about 6 weeks. Cost is $40w/shipping for Video and $52 w/shipping for DVD. There were 8 in our group so we bought 1 video and will make copies to share. What can I say, we're cheap.

Mazatlan - Old City Walking Tour...
It starts out with a wild fast breath taking ride in a taxi that Disney had waiting for us as we got off the Magic. We had a driver that spoke great English and he basically gave us the city tour as he drove. His name was "El Gato" meaning the cat and he asked us to ask for him if we needed to go anyplace after the tour. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgable about the town, BUT he drove like a mad man, going THRU stop signs and just plowing into and across traffic to deliver us to a place by the ocean where we meet up with the rest of our tour group... My mom was in the taxi behind ours and she said her driver never spoke to them, but drove just as wildly as he seemed to be trying to catch up with our taxi.
The tour began after everyone was delivered to the beach location... about 20 of us. We had a very nice tour guide named Carmen, very friendly, knowledgable and great English. We were there on June 1st and it was quite warm. Be sure to bring a hat, sunglasses, sunblock and WATER. I don't know how anyone will fare during July and August as after 30 minutes I was sweating buckets. The actual walk was nicely paced and not strenuous at all, so most anyone would be able to do it. You do have to keep an eye out for the dog poo on the sidewalk as you go AND for drivers that drive their cars along the sidewalk for a bit before deciding to park ON the sidewalk! This was hillarious as our guide had just told us to stay ON the sidewalk where it was safe. She had just finished uttering those words when a car came towards us and scooted itself onto the sidewalk and drove ON the sidewalk for about 40 feet before parking. Alot of us had to actually jump out of the way and BACK into the street to get out of the way of this car! :rotfl2:
Carmen took us to see statues, a bakery, an old museum, (I didn't go in as I was too hot to go into a hot unairconditioned museum) a church, an opera house, and a restaurant where we were only allowed to get a drink as we were too short on time to get something to eat. As I said it was a very warm day and EVERYONE was hot, thirsty and hungry.
I don't recommend this tour unless you are totally into history and old buildings that are being restored and dont' mind being HOT.

CaboSanLucas - Walking Tour
Decided NOT to do this tour as we were burned out from the Mazatlan walking tour. We decided to eat the cost of the ticket than do the hot walk again. Although now I regret not going as it was BEAUTIFUL in Cabo and it was very cool and breezy there.
You must take a little boat called a tender off the ship to get to Cabo as we can not park along the dock as the water isn't deep enough. At least that is the way I understood it. Once we were on land, there are LOTS of local people standing there ready to take you anywhere you want to go. They have all kinds of things to rent and excursions to take and at 1/2 the cost of booking thru Disney. The whole town seems very clean, touristy and friendly and ready to serve you. There were lots of shops and restaurants and lots of Americans everywhere. This is a very nice place and I highly recommend going there and plan on going back to enjoy more of it. The only regret I have is we didnt spend more time there. I feel Disney should drop Mazatlan altogether and spend 2 days in Cabo San Lucas.

Back to the real world... Work, Bills, and dreaming of the next cruise.

Sue, your pictures are awesome. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure the kids will be excited to see these pictures since they had a great time playing with Kelly and all the other DISkids.

Brandy,
I am so sad that we never formally met onboard. Joy and Ed did point you all out one night when you were having a group photo done. It ended up taking us over 2 hours to get on board so we missed most of the DIS meeting at 3 on the first day.

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful cruise. Did Steve love it too? I know you had said that he wasn't as huge a Disney fan as you? I really would have loved to have seen your wedding photos!

Thank you for asking, Steve really enjoyed it. He was expecting/dreading the Disney/kid overload that you usually encounter at Disneyland. He liked how it was kind of muted. He was very impressed with the diners. He kept remarking about how it was the nicest and most professional dining he'd ever taken part in. He thought the marine Corps Ball was nice, untill he dined with Disney. YES!!! He did get a very BAD sunburn on the first sunny day we were at the pool. Comes from not listening to his wife about how bad the sun would be by a pool floating in the middle of the ocean, especially when his skin hadn't seen sun in months. I had been going to a tanning salon for 3 months, to build up a base tan. And I still got a little pink on my back. (Although, I did fall asleep while by the pool). But the first day he passed on the sunscreen and my warnings and was PURPLE later that evening, and any tan he had, peeled off by the time we got home. But he has vowed to always listen to his wife now because "she knows everything" (that's right!). Poor Steve.

Does anyone have the Disney Sea University Schedule for 8-9 years? They're like the navigators with all the activites. I would really like to see on from the recent cruise.

While I’m still buried and trying to catch up I know that some of the other cruises are monitoring our board for reports and insight and I want to pass one on for Mazatlan.

We (9 of us) took a fantastic 7 hour tour (country, city, shops etc) with MAZATLAN FRANK. It was reasonable and extensive. Best bargain on the trip (other than all those “almost free offers”). But I know he is almost booked, so wanted to take a minute to just pass that on to the other cruisers looking to us for hints. His email address is fkole2000@hotmail and is web site is www.mazatland-frank.com

I am glad to see that as folks unbury themselves that we’re sharing all out good memories. It was fun to meet you all and sorry that with all the scheduled activities, tours, and different seating we mostly met passing in the hallways, elevators or decks. It was great to meet everyone, whether for a few minutes or longer.

While I have tons of memories, one of the best is that before this cruise, I had no clue who this “Ducky” character was that everyone was talking about, and now am one of his biggest fans. Besides a very warm and kind individual, I think he is one of the best representations of what Disney is about that I have ever met in my life. Got his limited edition of the 5 Walt Disney’s at the auction and it will hang very prominently in our house. The auction was actually good to grammiegail and me. Besides the “Ducky”, I think we did just fine because those at the auction were so shell shocked by the opening bid for the Artist Proof of the commemorative canal crossing with 8 pins, that while they were debating, we walked away with it before anyone else could raise a number. (Special thanks to FirstTimers, who sat there and had me convinced they would bid, and to LeagalBriefs for not showing up because I could not have gone that high)

Hints to other Cruise monitors

-Definitely want an extension or power cord.
-Brought duck tape, didn’t need it.
-Brought rope didn’t need it.
-Didn’t have enough cash with me on the first port and could not get some of those “almost free” things. So take cash and learn to say NO a few times.
-Brought books, didn’t read but 3 pages. Leave them at home they are heavy.
-Brought to many cloths. Came home with clean stuff. A big vacation sin. Didn’t use all the shorts, swimsuit, shirts and sock I brought.

Back to unburying. Thanks to everyone that is posting reports. It allows the vacation to be just a bit more than a memory

Sandy - thank you so much for forwarding Brandy's wedding photos!! Wow, you weren't kidding when you said "Fairytale Wedding" They are so beautiful! Brandy looked incredible. Love her dress!!

I was sick onboard from Monday night until Friday morning, my 21 month old threw up Monday (3 days ago), my husband started feeling sick two nights ago and I picked my 5 year old up from Pre-K last night and I knew something was wrong when she didn't want to go to Swimming Lessons and said "I'm not hungry" My daughter is usually always ready to eat (especially when we go for burritos before swimming lessons). So we skipped swimming lessons and went home (where my husband was laying on the couch sick) and within about a 1/2 hour my 5 year old tried walking to the back of the house with me to get ready for bed and she stopped in our livingroom to lay down. Then she threw up all over my white sofa. She has probably thrown up 3 times her whole life (including when she was a baby).

I thought I had food poisoning on board but I guess it was actually stomach flu and now I've passed it on to all the members of my family. Thankfully both of my daughters are feeling better (pretty much right after they both threw up??). But my husband is still sick (just like I was for 3-1/2 days onboard).

I guess I'm glad that it was me who had stomach flu on board and not my husband as I am able to keep going and my husband is a big baby :rotfl2: He said to me yesterday in his sick voice "wow, if you felt like this onboard, I don't know how you kept going?" :rotfl: I said "A bathroom and having two small children on a their dream vacation" I didn't have the option of laying in bed all day so I downed Pepto Bismol and made sure there was a bathroom close by at all times :flower:

Did anybody else get stomach flu either on board or immediately after returning home?

Here is a link to our May 28 - June 4 cruise photos...
you will have to register, but then you can view them.
Start with Disney Cruise first, then Day 1, then Day 2-7

Suesings: Sorry you are under the weather.. I hope ya'll get better real quick. I loved your family cruise photos, especially the princess birthday party. All the girls are so cute.
Glad you liked Brandy's wedding photos, although they don't do justice to the actual event. Sometimes things look better in pictures, but not this time. The day was picture perfect and so was everything else. Disney runs very smoothly and does EVERYTHING with such ease and grandure. And the best thing is that they can get you whatever you want and if you didn't think of it, they will suggest it. They don't leave anything to chance. We have No regrets.. Everyone should spend the bucks and have their dream wedding there.

Oh yeah! Grumpy Grampa got sick on Sunday (our last day in Disneyland). He had nausea, vomiting, and, well, stuff from the other end, too. He was a really trooper. He went to Disneyland and just let me, Chris (Challada), Emily and Alex ride what we wanted. He did ride one thing - Buzz Lightyear. By the time we flew home that evening, he was feeling better. I got it the next day, but I didn't seem to have it as bad as he did. I guess that was to make up for the fact that I had the sinus infection from hell while onboard. I have to admit the ship's infirmary was very efficient and the antibiotics worked wonders for the sinus infection and........oh, yeah, I came down with a cold the day before we sailed. I was amazed that it didn't settle in my chest (where my colds usually go, I think, just to annoy my asthma). It lingered in my head leading to the sinus infection. Sure, I was coughing, but I figured that was just my asthma. Imagine my surprise, when I started coughing worse when I got home. On Wednesday, I finally called for an appointment. I had a chest x-ray done on Thursday and showed a resolving pneumonia! Yup, in addition to a sinus infection, I had pneumonia. The good thing is that the antibiotics they gave me for the sinus infection also worked on my pneumonia.

Bob and I are both doing well now. I hope you are well also!

He was ours too, and what an angel. Our assistant, though, was also great; Svet the first three days and then Ben--who had been ill, in his cabin, but made up for it at the end. Sachin made the cruise truly amazing. (I had him write down his address for us, so my son can send him a thank you card and copies of the photos we have with him in them).

I've missed the discussion board! Especially when my screensaver comes on with a slideshow of my cruise pics :(

We're thinking WDW for either Christmas or spring break. Can't come too soon.

Y'all take care!

peace-
Rebecca
