Enchanted......I saw you post on the "repo thread".....We've sailed 4 times and took "carry on" all 4 times......a word to the wise....only bring to favorite beverages in your "carry on" don't put it in your regular suitcase!!!! If it doesn't fit on the x-ray machine you CAN'T CARRY IT ON!!! They will take it and send it with the rest of the luggage and IT WILL get broke!!! JMHO
Here's what I do......I bring a "carry on" suicase with wheels on it. I put a couple of cases of beer and a couple bottles of wine/champane/booze etc. (You could bring 2 if you want, one for you and another sailing partner) don't forget a "2 liter" so you can refill if you mix! Then when you get to the stateroom ask your host for a "container" to keep them cold.....tip him/her (me I give a 20) right then and there.....your "bucket" will always be full of ice and beverages cold! Then when all the booze is gone, that carry on is perfect for bringing home souvineers..........Have a great sailing....looking foreward to your "live from" reports!!
How do you fit a couple cases of beer in a carry on? Do you take them out of the box? My DH wants to bring his own beers, so any packing tips you offer will be a big help. And what do you mean a 2-liter to refil if I mix? I prefer mixed drinks so I am bringing a big bottle of Malibu Mango Rum ( I found it in a plastic bottle, better for not breaking). I am planning on bringing a bunch of the empty plastic popcorn buskets you can buy at Disneyland, and filling those to the brim with diffrent beverages at the drink station, so I don't need to make a million trips back and forth. They even come with lids!

Would it be possible for whoever has the latest lists to post them again? i.e., Scoops meet, Winos meet, etc etc etc I'd like to get a general headcount of kids too (for the postcard exchange).

Everybody, don't forget that we might be making friends-for-life on this cruise and we might want to be exchanging names, addressess etc so either bring business cards or 3x5 cards with that info all ready to go.

I am now up to:
two carry-ons, one laptop computer included
one "regular' sized pull behind suitcase
one jumbo pull behind suitcase.
How do you suppose lil' ol' me is going to haul all of that around?? And I haven't packed my 'personal supplies' yet har har (booze, wine).

peace-
Rebecca
THREE DAYS, THREE DAYS, THREE DAYS OH MY G-D I AM JUMPING OUT OF MY SKIN!!!!!!

DW drinks you flavor also, with o.j. or lemonade. I put the beer in a brown bag that holds 12 actually 4 of them. The boxes for the case takes up too much space. The suitcase I use is one the borders on being too big for an airplane carry on. You could always use a large "duffle" carry on with wheels also. The 2 litre I usually bring a sprite and when it's empty my DDs fill it with lemonade so they don't have to make extra trip to deck 9 while getting some sun.....You can also pick up some o.j., pop or booze at a port while docked.....yes, we bring some but our bar bill is still big at the end of the sailing.....for the convenience......

Margaret, my DH (Mark) grew up in Slidell. My mom and dad both went to Tulane. My stepfather taught at Tulane. I was born in Louisiana but up north in Shreveport. Did you go to college in New Orleans?

Hi Carrie,
I went to a junior college there and a classmate, Julie, was from Slidell. My sister (not my sister Carrie,my other one) went to Loyola. Have you been back recently? We haven't been back for about 6-8 years for jazz fest. We used to go back often, but my mom moved back to Texas. Gotta get back. Really miss it sometimes...you know that song Harry Connick Jr. sang, "Do you know what it means, to miss New Orleans?"

I've read through all of the recent postings and have updated our "lists"

I am so excited for you...your hubby HOME in just HOURS now! YEA! :cool1: :Pinkbounc

I am so thrilled about going at this point I'm ready to burst. I'm worthless here at work today (as you can see, I'm busy posting..LOL) and all I can think about is the bank, the traveler's checks, the last minute packing, the loading the car, etc, etc, etc.

See you all VERY SOON!
Chris

JediJazzman,

Once again, with permission from wmjivey about sharing his title, may I say again: You are The Man! :worship: Thanks for updating this for us.

You may want to add the "Workout Girls" who are meeting in the mornings to walk around Deck 4. So far we have Joy528, Suesings, GrammieGail, and Poconoboatniks. Time to be determined by the ladies on Saturday during the Scoops meet. I nominate my DW "Joy528" as captain. :teeth:

To everyone still at work like me, I know it must be difficult to concentrate. I'm guessing I'm at less than 50% competent with my office duties now and quickly deteriorating. :rotfl:

This is Enchantedplayroom ~
We're getting scattered over here, I had to bring my daycare kids (I only have 3) across the street to my mom's house, where my grandmother is trying to fit me for the lime green dress she's making me. She's about ready to rip it to shreds and throw it away. Ha ha. It's giving her a hard time for some reason. And she's a professional seamstress. Boy, patterns, I sure can pick 'um, huh? My poor gramma. She made both my moms outfits in one day, but my stinking dress has taken 2 days.
And Challada, my mom and I aren't worried a bit about the whole packing of the car thing. With 2 Marines in the family, they'll have it packed tighter than Walmart on Christmas Eve. Ha ha haa. :rotfl2:

Enchantedplyroom here again ~
Look what I found on another page.....

The President of the Cruise Line spoke this morning and talked about the following changes in Dry Dock:

The spa area will be remodelled and pushed all the way to the front of the ship and windows will look out over the front of the ship they will add special private rooms for couples massages.

THIS IS THE BEST
On the upper deck of the ship they are adding a jumbo tron type display so that they can show movies under the stars and also enhance the sailaway parties will be 24 feet wide and I think 15 feet tall.

The conference rooms are being eliminated and replaced with more childrens areas, they will be computer simulations and actually allow the kids to pretend to dock the ship.

On Castaway Cay they are adding swimming with the stingrays

More ships are coming as soon as the exchange rates are better

2007 should see new ports of call mainly from the United States, no plans yet for Hawaii or Foreign Ports.

Think that covers the highlights.

Off to see Don Ducky Williams now.

:wave2: Hi everyone! This is my first time on the boards....You may know my DH already....528Cruiser (Ed) and the girls Vanessa & Hannah. I wish I could have joined you all sooner to chat on the boards....but almost all of April I was sick. I've been well now for last 3 weeks. Hooray! I have been praying that we will all stay healthy for the actual DC trip.

Carrie....I hope Mattie gets well fast! The girls can hardly wait to meet everyone!

Did some shopping after dinner...at Target found some really cute princess stuff. On formal night, I want to have the girls find a bag filled with the princess things (pink nail polish, princess wand, etc). I'm going to say it's from either their fairy godmother or maybe one of the Disney princesses.

Anyway, I'm getting soooo excited about the trip, but also a little stressed out about packing as I have to try to do it without blowing the whole BIG secret (as you know the girls don't know we're even going on this cruise)!

Tomorrow (May 25) is Hannah's actual birthday and I haven't had time to throw her a party with friends...unless any of your girls might be interested in a princess party to celebrate Hannah's 5th birthday? I could have Hannah dress up as Sleeping Beauty (her favorite princess) and all the little girls could dress up as their favorite princesses. (Dress up is optional, of course.) Formal night would be too hectic and crazy to do a little party...but how about the day after (on Monday, May 30th, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm (after kids have had lunch) and while ship is at sea?

Please let me know who out there is interested, so I could get a rough count and prepare some favors for the girls and possibly a few princess games. I could prepare extra favors, in case some don't get this message until the Ice Cream social. I know Hannah would be absolutely thrilled if this happened...another surprise! :)
Location: TBD (will inform at ice cream social; thinking maybe Deck 7 aft)

Okay....gotta go now.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Joy :earsgirl:
Hi Joy, Kelly is definitely interested in Hannah's birthday party on Monday. She should be able to be there by 1:30 or so (mom and dad have Palo's booked from 11:30-1:30).
I know this is hard to believe but I wasn't even planning on packing a princess dress (we have 2 formal ones for formal and semi nights). Gee, can I find more room to throw another dress in?

Kelly's favorite princess is Sleeping Beauty also!!

Hi everyone

I am so excited for all of you :cheer2: The time is so near!

We're sailing as well, but not until July 2nd. I'm hoping one of you might ask about something for me if you think about it. I'm wondering if there are special plans for the 4th of July, a pecial fireworks show or some other show? The timing of things? They usually do fireworks on Pirate night which would be the next night, right? That is our 20th anniversary - my husband says it was the end of his independence :love2: . I've made Palo reservations for that night but I'm considering making them earlier. I'm afraid it will (or even has) filled up. I don't want to miss anything :teeth:

I looked through only a few of your pages. It sounds like a wonderful group!

Is anyone overnighting at the Marina Hotel San Pedro? The Sheraton's full so we are thinking of doing the stay/cruise/parking package thing there.

Have a wonderful time!
Sherry :flower:

I checked out the extended forecasts for this trip and here's what's predicted:

5/28 San Pedro, CA Mostly Sunny, High 75, Low 57 :sunny:
5/31 Puerto Vallarta Sunny, High 87, Low 66 :sunny: :sunny:
6/1 Mazatlan Sunny, High 86, Low 60 :sunny: :sunny:
6/2 Cabo San Lucas Sunny, High 94, Low 70 :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Weather's looking good.

Seems like everything has a green hue or tinge to it today!

I thought that if I go to the trouble of bringing my laptop, I might burn CD's of pictures and/or digital movies for various people, but didn't want to take up all that room with jewel cases for them. So, I went to Office Max, looking for those CD envelopes like CD's are usually in when they come in a box. I found them fairly easily; and guess what? They're GREEN! Darn close to the right shade and everything. How fun is that.

Also went to Target and found The Hat. They've got party supplies in the lime green too and I almost bought the table cover to paper my cabin's door with, but then I realized that might be a little too over the top for my grandmother to take (although I wouldn't mind myself).

Now it's time to start unpacking and repacking. I've GOT to find a way to condense.

peace--
Rebecca

You've already seen the notes about the 2 gallon zip-locks, but there is another way to compress clothes. Lay them out folded just the way you want them. Take a large plastic trash bag and slide them inside. Squeeze it down until as much air is out of them as you can get and tie the bag closed. I've down this kayaking, it not only gets everything compacted (it all has to go in those little bitty hatches) but keeps it dry, should you swamp or capsize (gee, hope we don't have THAT problem)!

Everything is already in the ziplocks...I'm going to have to eliminate some things. Darn me for being such a clothes horse. As my mother has reminded me, it's not actually necessary to have several changes of clothes for each day.... :smooth:

Okay here's the deal I'm willing to offer. If you might want a CD of the cruise featuring photos, and movies from my camera, and your own digital images (with my junk edited out upon request), bring one blank CD-R or CD-RW with you. During the last day on our way home, I'll set up a time to run a mass burning of CD's for any DIS-ers who are interested. I can only fit about 10 blanks in my laptop's bag along with all my other stuff in there or I'd bring along enough for everyone. (Yes this means I'm committing to bringing the laptop. I am willing to assist with downloads of others' cameras as well to other media storage.)

528Cruiser,

Thanks so much for the weather forecast! Looks Great!:sunny:

As far as Hannah's birthday party goes, I'm afraid I can't give you a answer at this time. I'm sure Grace would love it and have a great time, but my husband is getting afraid of all these commitments I'm making on the boards for our "family" vacation. Can I let you know after we've been on the boat for a couple of days? Please tell her "Happy Birthday" from Grace though! :flower:  princess: :cake:
