Come one! Come all!

Well Ken, I guess you and DH will be the two most handsomest (is that even a word?) men on board. I'm packing the tuxedo. Any other guys out there dressing up?

:)

I will be wearing my tux. Bought it a few years ago and wear it at least 3-4 times per year. I have collected a half dozen cumberbun sets, of course I'll wear a Disney one for the cruises.:dance3: :dance3: Alex

Not fully decided on this one yet. I'm thinking that if hubby rents a tux, he won't have to bring a suit at all since lots of people wear the tux on semi-formal night as well. Then he only needs to bring nice slacks and one sports jacket for Palo or cooler nights. I am so into packing light! (Translation: the less he takes, the more room in HIS suitcase for MY extra stuff......isn't marriage great?)

Where is the problem with that arrangement. I get one entire suitcase for myself. If I behave myself, I can sometimes put a few things in DW's three suitcases!

Well, it seems that a few of the guys will be competing for the most handsomest (love that word) title ;) Glad to hear that the guys will be dressing up, that leaves us ladies with the challenge of finding the perfect dress to match our elegant men.

Was going to leave the tux at home for this one!

Guess we are going to rethink that!

Not sure if Bill with fit into his pants anymore :scared1: Still thinking on this one.

I'm sure you mean the equivalent of one suitcase each but you are going to split it up so each suitcase has something for everyone JUST in case a bag gets lost one person is not left with nothing.

ALso, three pr of shoes for the entire trip is definatly doable. The fashion police will overlook the shoes matching thing while on cruise ships :rotfl2:

Living in South Florida, I've forgotten all about the fashion police. It is truly AMAZING what people will wear on vacation (and to the office). Shorts are regular attire for our non-exempts. White is worn year-round. Sandals are THE all-occasion footwear. Fancy restaurants are frequented by guests (usually tourists) wearing nothing more than a shirt, shorts and flip-flops. The attire here is full of wild, bold colors. Every time I head up North (like to Orlando), I'm always surprised at how bland everyone's clothing is. :lmao: :rotfl2:

As for the luggage. I've had luggage go missing for a few days but it's always been the entire set of luggage, not just one piece. That's great advice to split it up though in case one piece makes it!

Can you give me the space under bed? In past have had trouble getting luggage in the closet.

The closets in DCL should hold any size luggage you have. Large suitcases will fit standing upright - but won't leave a lot of room for long hanging items.

The beds will just barely fit standard size large luggage. You may need to lift up a bit on the corner to get the luggage stuffed underneath.

We bought luggage that fits inside of each other so once we unpack we end up with just a few pieces to stuff. They fit underneath the bed only after lifting up the bed.

HTH!

Hi everybody! This is my first post for the Med cruise, I am doing B2B from the repo!

My simple solution for wrinkles is the Downy Wrinkle Releases. You can use it 2 ways, spray all your clothing down before you pack it (it's amazing, when you unpack there are NO wrinkles) the second way is to just take a bottle of it with you and spray your clothing as you need it. :wizard: Takes about 3-5 minutes to be wrinkle free, depending on how bad the wrinkles are. I am personally doing both, I'm in love with it!! Cause I really hate to iron. It's a very sad thing to see!:jester:

My other simple solution for making room in the suitcases is the space saver bags. There are ones that you can get that you roll the air out of instead of having to use a vacuum to suck the air out! They normally have them at Big Lots for cheap! Using the bags for clothing really helps. I can pack so much more stuff!! I'm really hyped though about souvenirs!!!:dance3:

Alas, I have not found a simple solution for packing shoes. I love shoes. :cheer2:

Other great tip for finding your luggage fast is to personalize it. All you need is some spray paint or fabric paint. Use a stencil to add your initials or any fun cute symbol to your bags. I'm personally going to have a huge pink ribbon on the back of my bags. I might even add some Eeyore stickers to it!

Everyone have fun packing! But even more fun SHOPPING!!:grouphug:

The closet base measures 27.75 inchs by 18.5 inches. It is nice to have nesting luggage that fits at the bottom.... otherwise there is the standing suitcase issue with anything longer than a t-shirt.

I THINK under the beds was just shy of 10 inches but YES you DO have to lift the bed if the item is a bit larger... garmet and duffle bags tuck under nicely. Little kids can fit under nicely but are hard to get out.

NEON puffy paint is 99Cents a bottle at wal-mart...great for customizing that luggage! :) Our duffles are HIDIOUS! :)

My hubby likes to measure everything :) In a cat 4 room there is a really nice upright steamer chest that worked WONDERs for overflow storage...aka...dirty stuff! :)

What category stateroom? The closet in Categories 11 and 12 are much smaller than the rest of the categories.

To the best of my knowledge the closets in cat 4 down to cat 10 are the same. Cat 11 & 12 have a single closet. 4-10 have the split type closet with one side larger because the other side has a little cabinet/shelfs and safe in it. The dimensions I gave are for cat 4 the larger base closet area. The small one held 2 backpacks at the bottom and that was it.

We had two sets of nesting suitcases last trip and they stacked nicely in the big closet and still allowed room for hanging clothing plsu the LONGer stuff went on the little side.

It is all symantics! :) We are just geeks! :)

Apryl,

:welcome:

Please refer to the 1st post on page 55 to find out about all sorts of fun things going on with this cruise. The most important one is to PM Ken (kpros) with the names of people for lanyards (although you may already be getting something similar on the repo). Page 1, post 15 also has FAQs on the cruise. And finally, Ron, the OP, is hosting a wonderful suite tour/toga/wine tasting/greeting/general all around have fun/kids welcome party in the Roy suite. PM me with names if you are interested in going. WHEW!

I read somewhere (probably on the DIS) that the Downey Wrinkle Release is just fabric softener mixed with water. It's worth trying and saving some $$$ - although I'd try it at home first. My preference - wrinkle free clothing!

My DD was recently doing some testing and one of the pictures was an iron. I had to tell the tester that there was NO WAY my daughter knew what an iron was. :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

We received our DCL air inform today. It looks like we are going to Paris after all - well, only for a quick visit.

Air France - Barcelona to Paris - leaves at 10:30am, arrives at 12:25pm
Air France - Paris to LAX - leaves at 4:30pm, arrives at 6:55pm

I had to check because we stayed in a category 11 once and I was shocked at how small the closet was. I guess I hadn't thought that with a smaller bathroom area, the closet would also be smaller. I think you are right about categories 4-10 being the same though.

We always put our luggage under the bed. Never had a problem with this.

I'm still undecided about my laptop -- if I bring it and I need something for work, I've got it. If I want to call my mom, I can with Skype, downloading pictures (though I've got something else I can use for that). If I leave it home, less luggage. Don't know what to do!

Awesome airline! You'll be very, very happy to be flying Air France. They are so much better than US airlines. The layover sucks, but hey - at least you won't worry about missing your connection!

We are taking the laptop (at least one of them) and an extra battery. I want a FULL arsenol of items for the toddler(turns 2 on the boat). This will be his first plane ride and I know he gets VERY resetless in the car. Laptop with "cat in the Hat" and a few cartoons should do well. We also have a bag we are starting of "new" travel toys... stickers, coloring books, magnetic games....

Laptop will work for those ten times a day he DEMANDS Mickey Mouse cartoons! UGH!

I can just see our son running up and down the aisles of the plane racing his Thomas the Tank cars... *hangs head in shame*

Sorry if you are on our flight! :) We have bulkhead seats so he will only harrass a few rows of people! :)
