I'm still undecided about my laptop -- if I bring it and I need something for work, I've got it. If I want to call my mom, I can with Skype, downloading pictures (though I've got something else I can use for that). If I leave it home, less luggage. Don't know what to do!

I'm doing exactly the opposite! I've never brought my laptop along before but this time I will. Between the very long flights and the much longer time gone, I'm bringing it this time. At least I don't have to worry about power converters with the laptops - just plugs. I've got internet at both apartments (Barcelona and Paris) so we're good to go!

We are taking the laptop (at least one of them) and an extra battery. I want a FULL arsenol of items for the toddler(turns 2 on the boat). This will be his first plane ride and I know he gets VERY resetless in the car. Laptop with "cat in the Hat" and a few cartoons should do well. We also have a bag we are starting of "new" travel toys... stickers, coloring books, magnetic games....

Laptop will work for those ten times a day he DEMANDS Mickey Mouse cartoons! UGH!

I can just see our son running up and down the aisles of the plane racing his Thomas the Tank cars... *hangs head in shame*

Sorry if you are on our flight! :) We have bulkhead seats so he will only harrass a few rows of people! :)

I remember those days! Even at 6 Christina still does best doing laps around the plane. I'm not as worried about the outbound flight since it's during the evening/night. But the return is all during the day - and is LONGER due to the headwind. :scared1:

I still remember a couple of AWFUL flights. We were flying to Asheville, NC through Atlanta. The entire flight to Atlanta Christina cried and cried. She never stopped until we landed. When we made the connection we ran into one guy from our 1st flight. I felt so sorry for him. Thankfully Christina seemed to take pity and was quiet that flight.

The worst is the parents. I remember one mother who forced her two boys to sit quietly in the airport for the hour before the flight. They behaved and were great. Once they got on the plane they started to get restless and were kicking seats, etc. I sure wish that Mom had let her kids run around the airport! Now if I see kids "doing laps" or going up and down escalators or moving sidewalks I smile big time. I'd much rather have them use up the energy BEFORE they get on the plane.

Oh - and DON'T bring playdoh. It's not allowed anymore - and it was Christina's favorite airplane toy.

Good luck on the flight!

Sue

I had a chance to update the FAQs into categories. Are there any other questions that you need answered? I'll be calling DCL tomorrow (I hope) to get answers to those questions not yet answered.

Sue

P.S. FAQs are posted on page 1 post 15.

Was going to leave the tux at home for this one!

Guess we are going to rethink that!
:) :) :) Notice the Lanyard! LOL

Wow, you two clean up nicely!

Hello everyone!

We are a family of 4 - Me, Hubby, Son (21) and daughter (12). We have crossed the pond to visit WDW and DL many many times but this will be our first time on the big red boat (for the Inaugural Med cruise), and in our own backyard (so to speak) as well.

From the sound of most of these posts, the ship will be mainly American passengers, so hopefully you wont mind sharing the ship with us Brits.

It would be nice to know if there are any other children of similar ages to ours so that they can mix. My son toured Europe for several weeks last summer so he will be showing us around Rome and Naples.

Look forward to meeting a lot of you!

Welcome aboard holidayfanatic!!!

First and foremost, if you are expecting to see a big red boat - you're looking for the wrong ship. The red boat has been replaced by something much nicer! :thumbsup2

Please go back to page 55 of this thread and read the 1st post. You will find losts of good info about planned events, lanyards, t-shirts and other things.

Once you read that, please PM me or post the first names of everyone in your group so I can include them on the lanyard list.

Ken

Apryl,

Please refer to the 1st post on page 55 to find out about all sorts of fun things going on with this cruise.

Thanks for the responses folks!

First, how do you do a PM? When I have worked that one out I will respond to you guys.

Secondly, I know I must have sounded naive when saying big red boat but I only call it that because we have always referred to the Disney Cruise ship as that because that is how it started out. :cheer2:

Thanks again for your help.

We received our DCL air inform today. It looks like we are going to Paris after all - well, only for a quick visit.

Air France - Barcelona to Paris - leaves at 10:30am, arrives at 12:25pm
Air France - Paris to LAX - leaves at 4:30pm, arrives at 6:55pm

Ken

Anyone else have their DCL air info?

I hate to burst your bubble but I have seen laptops burn out because of power sources being different in UK and USA. You may want to get a manufacture's confirmation before you try it.

Lots of people still think "Big Red Boat" when I say I'm cruising with Disney. I aways try my best to educate them that things are a little different now.

As far as PMing goes - I think you have to post 8 times before you can send a PM (personal message). If you don't want to wait - you can e-mail the first names to me at prosserk@roadrunner.com

Thanks for the warning. I already did check into it - along with our GIS department and plenty of fellow travelers (with the same computer) that have hopped to countries all throughout Europe. It's my work laptop, so that was an important piece of info for me. It's a Dell if that helps.

GLad to hear that someone has already tested the waters for you. I wasn't so lucky, either time!! At least work cover the expense each time.

Which model is it? Which power pack do you have? - maybe I'll bring mine this time, it has a longer battery than the portable DVD player.

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

to all the new folks - we are going to have so much fun on this cruise!!!!!!

We fly out of Tampa airport to Philly and then to Barcelona. Tampa has s toddler play area. We plan to let him exhaust himself running around. Outbound we learn Pholly around 6:30pm so that should work for him actuallyfalling asleep. *fingers crossed*

I didn't know that Play-doh was still on the banned list. Nothing listed according to TSA. I sent them an email and will update iwth the responce when i get it! :)

Just thought I would check in- I've been sleep a lot and cleaning for my spring break. (Classes started again yesterday)

I will not be wearing formal or pirate wear- both take up too much room and I have to bring my scuba gear, which takes up more room, but I have more desire to dive than dress up.

I have a few more weeks of nights, then I go back to the land of the living...

Hey T, any news?
