We also arrive on the morning of the 25th via Iberia (booked through American) If all goes well, Peter and Jenn will be with us.
I'm thinking that I would like to board as early as possible and get myself settled. Thankfully, I don't think I need to do the ressie scramble this time. Since I always find the first day a little hectic, I probably won't be leaving the ship in Barcelona again. However, if we get settled quickly and there's not much happening onboard, we could conceivably change our minds. Does anyone know when the safety drill is going to be held? It's sure to be a challenge given the dinner hours and the fact that our station will probably be Animator's Palate (for 7Aft)

Well,, I just spoke to a CM today and they said the boat drill will be at 4pm. I said " there's going to be a lot of people who miss it." She said they are going to replay it on TV.

Also, she told me the latest we can check in is 9pm. If it's after 4pm, you will have to check in on the ship and carry your own luggage to your room.

Can anyone confirm this? We have my inlaws flying in on the 26th and want to make sure they make it on time!

Ha,ha....In that case, whether I'm there or not, I think I'll watch it on TV!

This just in from DCL:

Check in begins at 1:00 pm (unlike Port Canaveral where it begins at 10:00 am). Check in will be in the terminal until 4:00 pm. After 4:00 pm, check in will be on the ship (as stated above). All aboard is at 9:00 pm and sailaway is at 10:00 pm.

I checked on the lifeboat drill and the CM I spoke to checked directly with Ground Services. They said it would be at 5:45 pm.

Anyone else :confused3 :lmao:

Wow - that is strange - there will not be too many people around for the drill since we can get on and off the ship. I personally can't see them allowed to do the drill without everyone present or for that matter being allowed to use a TV broadcast as an adequate replacement, but hey what do I know.

My problem is that my massage is at 5:45pm. Guess I will be calling as well to confirm my massage is still happening.

I can see this information changing about 5 more times before we get there.

Personally, I think it makes most sense to during the drill during our day at sea (if regulations allow that). Of course that means figuring out a time that doesn't interfear with Palo dinning, massages or other scheduled events. LOL

I think the rule is within 12 or 24 hours, but I don't remember. I would think the further you get after departing the harder it will be.

I put in a call to see what answer I get back!

I wonder if we should make a FAQs page. We could keep updating it as new information comes in.

I posted Tracys info on page 55. Will that work - or if someone else wants to do a FAQ - that would be great.

I had a long list of questions that I had answered awhile back. I'll repost again with the last round of answers and I'll be glad to update as new information comes in.

Page 1, Post 15 could be the FAQ section!! Sue, you had that long list of questions before, you could put that there an other FAQ stuff (including a link to Ken's post with what's going on).

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I was thinking the same thing!!! I bet if you're on ship though they'll make you do it....looks like it would be a good time for a walk on the pier...:woohoo:

  1. When is boarding?
It begins at 1pm until 4pm in the terminal. After 4pm until 9pm at the ship itself.
  2. When is the lifeboat drill?
5:45 PM, however the announcement begins at 5:15. Shipboard services are suspended from 5:15 pm to 6:00 PM.
  3. When is the sail away party?
    10 pm
  4. What night will be our first "assigned" rotation night? The 26th or the 27th?
    Saturday the 26th.
  5. What are the theme nights on the cruise? And what days are
    they?

    When are the formal night(s)?
When is the Goofy PJ slumber party for the kids?
    When is Tea for Wendy?
Are there any special wine seminars/tastings/classes?
Disney said that all of these are still in planning stages - not set
yet. Some we may be able to find out before the cruise, while others
you may have to wait until you see the events in your personal
    navigator.
There will be one formal, two semi-formal and a pirate night.
  6. What is the liquids policy for Barcelona?
We'd like to carry aboard wine like we have in Port Canaveral, will the policy be the same?
What about at ports (like Marseille/Nice)?

Same policy as Port Canaveral - you can carry on unopened wine and other
    liquids.
  7. On boarding day, can we go on and off the ship until sail-away?
In other words, can we check-in, go to our staterooms and then leave the
    ship for a few hours?

Yes you can come and go from the ship in Barcelona - bring your
passports with you when you leave the ship.
  8. What time do we have to be on the ship in Barcelona?
Everybody must be onboard by 9 pm.
  9. Can we check-in or drop our luggage at the port and then leave for awhile
to see Barcelona before we check-in for our stateroom?

    Yes
  10. What time?
    *** Not yet answered ***
  11. What is the latest DCL transfer from port back to airport?
Everybody needs to be offboard by 9 a.m.
9:30 a.m. is the last transfer
  12. Is left luggage available at the Barcelona port?
Disney said probably no but they do not have control over this.
  13. What terminal will DCL be in at Barcelona?
    Moll Adossat - Terminal C
  14. What ports require tendering?
    La Spezia
    Villefranche
  15. Are we allowed to bring food, wine and olive oil on the boat from
    our ports?

Bringing food onboard is a definite no according to DCL. Unopened wine
and other liquid bottles are ok.
  16. Will euros be available on the ship for exchanging $$?
Yes there will be euros on the ship
  17. Can you purchase transfers if you are staying at a hotel not booked through DCL?
Only from the hotel to the port and back, not from the airport to the hotel *** not confirmed ***

***** NOW PUT IN P1P15. Soon I'll edit this out to point to that post. At least as soon as I can figure out how to link to that post.... ***

Great idea! Of course I already posted a FAQ section before I even thought of that. Silly me!

I will fix it all around in the next few days.

Can we add:

Will dinner roation start on Saturday evening, 5/26 (day of boarding) or Sunday evening, 5/27 (day at sea)?

When I called they told me they were unsure - they would know closer to the date.

Can you tell me what you mean by the question? Are you asking whether they will have a buffet or open seating dinner that night vs. a sit down dinner at our assigned times?

Sue

I was asking when our dinning rotation (sit down dinner at our assigned times) begins.

Just to give you an idea how some other cruiselines handle it:

When we sailed on Holland America in Alaska our departure time was also 9pm. Since some people were boarding very late (because they had land/cruise packages), the first night was completely open dining. They had 2 seatings for the regular dining room and you could choose either of those or simply do the buffet upstairs. We did not meet our servers or sit at our assigned table until the second night.
It's possible that Disney will do something similar.
