May 25 Magic - anyone get sick?

I would agree with you but I was not around my Mom all week and she has it. And haha at making us feel better to blame the ship. No one said norovirus. Just bad head cold/flu.

The most common gastrointestinal viruses have incubation periods of 1-3 days. If they have been off the ship more than 3 days before getting sick, it probably didn't come from the ship. It is just as likely to have come from a playground, fast food restaurant, grocery store, or any place else they have been. To blame the ship makes no sense with this time line.

And...does it really matter where it came from? There is no way they can know for sure, and the important thing is that they are better AND that they understand the importance of good hand washing...since gi "bugs" are spread by hand to mouth contamination.

You are all assuming its gastro related.

My family was on the May 18th-23rd sailing on the Magic. The day after we got off the ship, I came down with cold like symptoms (snuffy nose, sore throat, ear infection). Then the next day my youngest came down with it too. I chalk it up to being in a different climate, on a different schedule, and our immune system is just out of whack. We could have picked it up anywhere on our trip (Key West, Nassau, or Castaway). But the cold was worth the fun we had!!!

I don't know, wish I did, so I could treat it.

Either grabbed something at WDW, buffet utensils, etc... I don't want to blame the cruise ship, but it just seems to me that my Mom, son and myself got it, along with others I know who were onboard.

Yes, it could be low immune, on the go all day, sun, I don't know, I do know that I got it 1 1/2 days after leaving the ship.

It has turned into a dry dry cough, up all night with it, low grade fever, stuffed nose now, headache, body aches.

I just spoke to my friend who was with us too and she said she's been stuffed all week too!

I know that it could be anything... Castaway Cay - who knows.. but there was something brewing on board. ;)

It's not a gastro virus. It's a bad bad head cold ... my Mom's doc said sinusitis, but I don't think so.

;) best of luck all! :)

Sounds like the good old flu. Actual influenza - not a bad cold that everyone seems to call "the flu" these days. It'll make you feel like you've been hit by a truck and once you've actually had a real case of influenza, you'll never call a cold by that name again.

I get a sinus infection pretty much every time I cruise. Not considering blaming the cruise line. You're stuck on this floating can with a bunch of other people every day, sure, it happens; then most of us have to get on a plane to fly home - another can full of people.

My husband has gotten sick after every cruise he has been on. I have been on twice as many and never been ill. I do not go out much, so I am not exposed to many things. He is out all the time, working, traveling via air weekly, etc. There is really no way to know where you may ave picked things up. Stair railings, elevator buttons, doors into and out of the rest rooms, doors going into and out of deck areas. At the airports, inthecar parks, germs and vir are everywhere.

Yup, Germs everywhere...

I've cruised 4x and never got sick like this afterwards...

This is definitely a flu type thing - not a cold.

I just went out for the first time since Thursday and was good to get out a little... I'm sure tonight I'll feel it.

I've taken some Delsym for my cough - hopefully that'll work ... ;)
