May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Soooo jealous!!! :)

Let the musical staterooms commence....

Just noticed I think got bumped from a 7A to what I think is a 5A? My category is the same on my reservation page, but my stateroom number has now changed. I'm guessing I got upgraded?

I booked a secret verandah on 6 and my stateroom number on my reservation changed today. I'm on 7 now and mid ship with what I assume is a full balcony instead of my obstructed one.

Anyone else have Tink visit their reservation today? Better go check!

So now what does one do about my luggage tags? As I assume they will be all wrong?

I don't think that I am even going to worry about possibly upgrading. We have 4 rooms in a row with 2 that are connecting. You can find us in the bowels of the ship on Deck 2, lol!!

For previous cruisers, it is worth it to bring your own wine and pay the $20 corking fee at dinner, or are their prices pretty reasonable?

Also, can anyone recommend some over-the-counter remedies for sea-sickness? Hopefully, we won't need anything, but I would like to be prepared!

Well, I have 4 in a small inside regular room - so I'm hoping I get lucky with a slight upgrade, but, I will not cry if I don't get it - one can pray!!

As for sea sickness, our first ever cruise, I was sick as the dickens and had nothing with me.

All our others, I've brought Ginger Tablets, I started taking them 2 days before we left and continued on and off for the cruise. Some use the sea-bands. Our last cruise, I must say I didn't take anything and was fine, NYC to Bermuda...

We brought Bonine with us but I have never used it on my last two cruises. My pharmacist friend swears by that and not Dramamine.

I'll have it with me this cruise just in case....wont cruise without it just to be safe.

We take Bonine on every cruise and none of us have ever had sea-sickness or the vertigo that some people get after the cruise.

We take it every single day during the cruise, and start it the day before the cruise, to avoid seasickness because it's easier to do that than try to treat it once it hits you.

The generic of Bonine is called meclazine. Same thing. If your pharmacy has that, it's just as good, and costs less.

This question is for Cayla or anyone else who has participated in an FE Gift exchange before:

I'll be putting my gift items into gift bags, and I've bought Mickey-head shaped cut-outs and lime green curling ribbon to attach and close the bag; my question is, How do you "address" the card? Do you use their DIS name? Real name? What about if the gift bag contains gifts for everyone in the cabin?? Just curious how some of you have done it in the past. Also, do you sign your name to the card? I figured I would write "SeaSpray" on the back of the card. Is this what's usually done? Thanks! :)

P.S. Do you guys assemble your gift bags before the cruise, or once you're onboard?? I think that it'll be easier to travel with my items in their separate packages and then assemble the gift bags after we land the day before the cruise. I'm afraid that if I assemble them before, they'll get squished! lol

P.P.S. I'm going to need a separate carry-on suitcase just for all of those lime green leis! :lmao:
For the FE exchange - I have done it both ways - finding time to assemble onboard can be challenging, but pick the easiest way to pack them all if you are flying. I usually use my Dis Name and my RW name...this way there is little confusion - but your Dis name is a must!

I printed labels and attached them to the gift, in the past when I have used plastic baggies I put a small label card in the baggie. Others have punched a hole in a tag and threaded it on the ribbon. You could also write it on the bottom of the gift bag as another option.

DON'T USE THE PREPRINTED ONES!!! You will spend the whole cruise hunting for your luggage...I suggest you ask the porters to give you tags - OR you can create them yourself by putting your name and new cabin number on a large tag and attaching it to the handle of each piece. Also - using 1 of 5, 2 of 5 etc helps a lot! If you have boxes, write it on the box in large numbers.

what is the new stateroom number? I will change the FE list if you are on that...sooner is better than later!

I NEVER pay the corkage - I go to a bar before dinner, obtain a wine glass and take my wine in a glass from the cabin. If I really want two glasses - I do it that way. I prefer my own wines usually. For a price comparison - Conundrum is sold onboard at 50.00 a bottle (it costs about 20 at CostCo)...they are very overpriced in my opinion.

Last call for lanyards...

Michael has asked that the lanyard list be finalized by Sunday night. I will be locking the Google Doc at that time - IF ANYONE WANTS A FREE LANYARD PLEASE SIGN UP NOW!!!

for those who are contributing - please visit the document for Michael's paypal address and send him a gift of 25.00 before we cruise please.

I figured worst case I'd sharpie out my old stateroom, etc if I cant get new tags at the port. Nice to know new tags are a possible option!

No, I didn't sign up for the FE..so no worries there.

Make sure you block out the bar coding - that is how they track the bags to each room, not by the written room number.

better to get new tags!

Thanks for all of the med info. Will definitely be stocking up this week!

Padalyn--thanks so much for the wine info, that really helps!!

1 WEEK!!!!! :cheer2:

Steph,

We always buy the wine package on the first night. We go for the cheaper one and it usually works out to $25-$30 per bottle. I think it's about twice as much as you'd pay at the store, but it's convenient and if you don't drink it all, they cork it and keep until you're ready to drink it.

I've read on the board that you should wait until the ship is offshore to buy wine packages because they charge tax at the port. I'm not really sure if this is true, but it's something I'm going to ask about!

I've always had good luck with Dramamine (on small fishing boats and dive boats). Never needed it on the Magic - even when we were TransAtlantic!

Can't wait to see everyone ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!!!

Susan

CONGRATS!!!! Pixie dust landed on you!!!!
If your cabin has been changed all you have to do is use a marker to cross out the old number (NUMBER ONLY don't mark over the bar code) then write in your new cabin number. The bar code - when scanned- will show the new # in the computer.
I had some clients that had their cabins changed & this is what they had me do.

I think I am driving my family crazy. Now only a week away, everything I am saying is,"Next week we will be...":rotfl2::rotfl2: I am beside myself, I CAN NOT WAIT!:cool1::cool1:

As of right now it looks like it will be a beautiful day in NYC next Friday - about 80 degrees. Hopefully the weathermen are earning their money by giving an accurate forecast!
