May 25, 2012 - Magical 8-night cruise - NYC to the Bahamas!

Hi were in room #6114 anything would be appreciated and we will ofcouse do the same would just need rooms and head count!

Hi, I have a spare gift that I can leave for your son, unfortunately I don't have any adult gifts spare though. I will add his name to my list!

Hi all. I'm brand new to this board and to cruising. This will be my first cruise! It will be me (41) and my mom (68). We are the Disney fanatics of the family. :) Can anyone tell me... I saw the attire schedule on the first page, is that still the way it will be with the formal on Saturday and the semi-formal on Thursday? Is this info someone got from DCL or another source? Just wondering because if it is, I'm not going to bother bringing a semi-formal outfit since we are going to Palo on Thursday. That will be more room in my suitcase. :) Thanks for any additional info.

I cruise with my mom, too! It's me (39), my mom (70), and my daughter (9). It will be my mother and my 4th Disney cruise, and my daughter's second.

I know a lot of people don't like to dress up for dinner on cruises, but the Disney ships are just so majestic and the service so great that we LIKE to celebrate in our formal wear! Formal wear also lends itself to FABULOUS pictures! You also might want to think about bringing some pirate wear - another opportunity for great pics!

Since it's just you and your mom I suggest that you try some of the adult seminars like the wine, beer, or tequila tastings. You can't book them ahead of time, but as soon as you get onboard go to guest services and ask about them.

Hello, hello fellow May 25th cruisers.....two weeks from today we will be boarding...yeah!!!!

I really, really need this vacay. On April 29th one of our dear friends and neighbor (and one of DD's best friends and college roommate) passed away at age 23. She had been battling non-hodgkins Lymphoma for 18 mos. Another dear friend of ours just had brain surgery and is recovering....it has been a VERY stressful 2 weeks.

It is bittersweet going back on the Magic in light of her passing. When DD and her were just little girls we all sailed on the Maiden Voyage of the Magic together. DD is not coming on this trip (in a way I am glad as it may have been too much for her) and we had always hoped to sail DCL as a group again.

MJ

So sorry to hear of your loss and stress. Here's to a fun filled, stress free cruise!:sail::sail:

Thank you soo much ...its more for him, us adults don't need anything... thank you...he'll be soo excited:)

YAY!!!!! So close!!!! We can't wait.

What is everyone planning on doing while in the ports? Shore excursions? On your own? Stay onboard?

Right now we are just planning to walk around Nassau then find a beach. On CC just swim & hangout. Maybe check out the island more. Of course WDW in FL!!!!

In Nassau we're doing the Ardastra Zoo and City Tour. After that we plan to walk around a little and do some shopping, then head back to the ship. Our excursion doesn't start until 12 noon, so we plan on relaxing in the morning before we head out. :)

Castaway Cay: We want to check out Serenity Bay since our previous 3 stops there were spent on the family beach. Just planning on RELAXING that day. :sunny:

WDW Day: We're starting out on the Magic Kingdom bus but we have breakfast ADRs at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian (cannot wait for those Pineapple-Macadamia pancakes! :woohoo: ) so we'll go there first, then head out to the park afterwards. We'll probably stay at the MK all day, ending with dinner at 'Ohana at the Polynesian. :yay:

Don't even know why I am bothering. I know I won't be going in the pools on the ship - I guess it's so I don't look dumb at CC! Whatever. I've had over a year to drop these 30lbs and haven't. So it's my own fault. But on a happier note - I cannot believe it's 2 weeks away! Two weeks from now at this moment this house is going to be so chaotic! Can't wait :0

I know what you mean! I've been trying to lose 20 pounds for about 7 months. Every time that I make any headway, I put it right back on! Oh well! Too late now! Guess I'll just enjoy my cruise and worry about it when I get back!

:yay:

I haven't lost any weight either. :crazy2: Actually, I have lost weight, but then found it again. :sad2: I did buy 2 new bathing suits last month, though. Not the size I had hoped to buy, but I hope to not let this bother me while on the cruise. :cool2:

I am so sorry to hear this and sorry for your loss, MJ. So sad, she was just a young girl. :(

I hope that the cruise will offer you a chance to de-stress a little.

Welcome, Kate! :welcome:

Well, everyone, now we have LESS than 2 weeks until our cruise! I went to Sears today to buy some new pillows, and look what else I ended up buying:

It's called chartreuce green, but in person it's *very* lime green! LOL It was on sale and I needed a new carry-on size anyway, so I got this set. Heh, DIS GREEN LUGGAGE. I'm such a geek! :lmao:

Sea Spray - Love the luggage!!! Ours in down & waiting for the last minute stuff. The important stuff is in... snorkle gear, sun tan lotion, aloe, swimsuit, hat &:beach: sandals

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful MOMS out there! Hopefully everyone is going to enjoy their days! Pretty soon we'll all be sipping fruity drinks watching the ocean fly by!

:boat:

A newbie question if you all don't mind... I read somewhere that you can snorkel at Serenity Bay in addition to the family beach. Any pros and cons to doing that? I'm leaning more to doing it at Serenity Bay seeing as I'm a beginner and just want to give it a try. I thought it would be less crowded. Any thoughts or guidance from the veteran cruisers?

Thanks!
Kate

Had an awesome mother's day!! Oldest DD (28) made a wonderful brunch for me and the family. Quiche, baked french toast casserole, sausages/bacon, fresh fruit, deviled eggs and tons of pastries....and...of....course....the Mimosa's were flowing!!!

Had a really good day!!! Anyone else book the Wild Africa Trek....it looks so cool!!! Hope to see the new baby rhino that was born at AK last week.

Hope all the other mom's out there had an awesome day as well!!!
