May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

30 Days til we all sail!!!!! We got our documentation about a week ago, assigned Room 6148, Cat. 06A. Can't wait to see Beautiful Alaska. Although I'm still struggling with what clothes to bring. Being from Middle Georgia, I don't own a raincoat, which I guess I will need to buy.

Makes it real now doesn't it!

As long as I am on the ship, I don't really care what time we leave, well, maybe except that the shops can't open until we leave, but there is plenty of time for shopping later on.

Ah yes, shopping! Plenty of time but I sure hope they get all the "new" stuff to the ship for our trip. I will be mad if they "didn't get that in yet"!

I just want to go under the Lions Gate Bridge before our early dining time.

Me too!

Disney gave us ponchos when we went on excursions two years ago in Alaska. You will definitely need a raincoat.

And you got to keep then right? Because they didn't want to figure out how to make them fold all compact any more haha. I would say yeah to free ponchos but then I guess spending a few grand on the price of the trip just to get them sort of defeats the meaning of "free" ahaha.

I think it was on our Baltic cruise that we got 'free' ponchos - they were in our stateroom the night before - we didn't need them though

On our Pixar cruise in 2012 we saw:

Mr. & Mrs. Incredible and Frozone
Mr. Fredericksen, Dug and Russell
Flik and Ata
Remy and Emile
Woody, Jessie and Buzz
Mike and Sully

OOOOH Frozone! I hope he's there again this time! :yay: Mr. Fredricksen and Dug would be cool for me also, but Frozone is my man!:thumbsup2

I am NOT taking that bet! :rotfl2:

I think it's a safe bet to take, though. :scratchin

Just about 30 days before we leave for Alaska people. Are you ready??? :scared1: :yay: :hyper:

Mentally...I'm BEYOND ready. :hyper:

Trying to tie up loose ends before I go...Not so much. :sad2:

I'm with RweTHEREyet! I'm cool if the ship is delayed as long as I'm on it. But the shopping part...I'm going to be stalking Mickey's Mates until it opens. :rolleyes1 There is one thing I'm hoping the Wonder has in stock and that it's not just on the Fantasy and Dream ships. I MUST get this item day 1 so I can feel better. Not sharing what in case it's on someone else's list too. I'm not into confrontation. :crutches: :rotfl:

But, RweTHEREyet, don't you get more shopping time on the 1st part of your B2B?

I just want to go under the Lions Gate Bridge before our early dining time.

Neat! :woohoo: I didn't know we get to do that. That helps me to know. I have been still feeling disappointed about not getting to do the B2B and sail under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Not sure if everyone got one, but I just received an email from DCL about Canadian Immigration changing. The program for direct immigration if you are on a cruise (something like that) no longer exists so if you were planning on using that, you can't, you have to go through the same ol immigration and customs lines as everyone. I believe it was only for people arriving that day and going from airport directly to port.

I posted the email on FB but can't here via phone. If anyone has questions feel free to ask and I can forward you my email.

I got that email and I'm not arriving day of so I wonder myself if everyone got it. But not having the time to research and plan much these past 13 1/2 months, I didn't even know there was such an option as a "US DIRECT Immigration Program" so I was fully expecting to have to go through Customs anyway.

"Free" ponchos would be cool.:thumbsup2 I can re use them at Disneyland if we get them on this sailing.

I was pretty bummed when on my Med cruise last summer some of the "free" stuff delivery was delayed and missed the ship. At least we did get some "free" stuff. I know there's more important things to worry about, yet it's still kinda hard to swallow when the "free" stuff is missing and I know I've already paid for it. But I was sure to eat plenty of extra "free" food and "free" H2O products to make up for some of it. :rotfl:

How many b2bers do we have (with the repo)? I know a few of you, but not everyone. If you are b2bing with the repo and not on the FE list, please let me know. I'll have something for all the b2bers.

Now that we're not docking in Canada Place at the end of the repo, we'll probably just clear customs then chill on the ship--maybe do laundry if they'll let us.

I don't know just what we will do, but I am leaning towards staying on the ship and doing some laundry and getting my SIL moved into her adjoining cabin. We will be waiting around for my DH and my nephew to join us, and it would be nice to be able to welcome them when they get on board.

But I have read trip reports that say when doing a B2B on the West Coast they were required to stay in Cove Cafe' until new passengers boarded. I guess we will find out what our options are when we get our letter the night before.

Yes, I will, but I am hoping for some Alaska stuff that they may not put out until Vancouver.

Are you sure there isn't something I can look for for you when I get on in San Diego? I am thinking that the San Diego sailing is going to be very full, lots of West Coast people taking advantage of having the ship over there and I am betting merchandise will be really picked over.

OK, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, but contrary to what SheIsGoingToDisney found out, my neighbor just called Embarkation Services at DCL and was told that unless you have a parking reservation at Canada Place, you will not be provided shuttle service to Ballantyne Pier. The only way to get DCL transfers is to pay $25 each and catch the shuttle at the Fairmont across the street.

If anybody has any other information or has talked to DCL, please let us know.

my GTY status has landed me on deck 5 with a big window. Super excited.

I feel the need to caution you that your view from that big window may be obstructed. Last year, on the EBTA cruise, someone hosted a cabin/stateroom tour. Many of us opened our cabins/staterooms for others to see and I was amazed at the variety of cabins/staterooms available on the Magic and Wonder. Anyway, we did see a couple of cabins/staterooms on Deck 5 and the view from those big windows is sometimes blocked by the lifeboats and their rigging.

Penny and I are doing the B2B, but so far have not decided what to do in Vancouver. If we were docking at Canada Place, we definitely would have gotten off the ship, but now we are not sure. What do they do with us if we stay on the ship (if any one knows)?

Very much looking forward to these cruises. We loved Alaska last year.
Next year, Northern Europe (Norway, Iceland, Scotland)! :)

We keep saying we need to cut back on cruises and Disney always foils our plans! We are supposed to be figuring out how/where to retire in the next couple of years.

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Ahhh...Gotcha! Didn't even think about that. Makes perfect sense. :goodvibes

I never even thought about asking. Yeah, after my Med Cruise not restocked on a few other things (beside the "free" stuff I mentioned earlier) I would appreciate you even checking for me to see if it's actually in stock. I will PM you to explain. Thank you. :goodvibes

I actually requested one of those "Secret Porthole" rooms with the obstructed view, but then again I love the Navigator's Verandah rooms too so I guess slightly obstructed seems to be my thing. :goodvibes.

eganfire, hopefully you have an unobstructed view. Here is a link to which staterooms on deck 5 are obstructed Disney Cruise Line Secret Porthole Rooms If you don't have one of these you are good to go. :thumbsup2

And (if you haven't seen it yet) DISboards has a great thread with Stateroom reports for all 4 ships so you can check on the room you did get. :goodvibes Disney Wonder Stateroom Reviews

I just wanted to share that this made me smile. :goodvibes

I'm in ATL :thumbsup2 I'm packing my parka, gloves, hats, scarfs, boots and rain ponchos from Disney. Big Winter Jacket, many thick heavy socks, and layers.

But that is because it has been in the 80s here all week. Meaning, I am going to be cold even if the weather is 65 there, :rotfl2: but especially on the glaciers.

Hello neighbor, I'm only a couple hours away from Atlanta. I live in Dublin, Ga. I'll probably take every item of cold gear I own, lol.

I did order a pair of Teva hiking boots, although, when they arrived I realized my Ugg's would have done just as well. I also bought DH and I some smartwool socks.

We will be cruising at the "GOLD" level this trip. I can't wait to see what will await us in the cabin.
:cool1:

My DH ordered a device with 5 USB SLOTS FOR CHARGING SEVERAL ITEMS AT ONCE. :thumbsup2

Can't wait for our adventure to begin.

I have the multi UBB cables as well. Works awesome!! The smart wool socks were on sale today, so they have been ordered as well. I might even pack a throw blanket..so I can take it with me if I am siting outside or on the balcony. I can pack it on the day trips, just for extra warmth.

Dublin is a little more south or west?

Thanks for the heads up. Read up on the stateroom reviews and the only problem is noise from the Theatre below. BUT reports are the window is awesome. I can live with show noise as long as I have a good view and the noise isn't after midnight every night.

MoonDaughter--I have cleaned out my PM box, sorry about that, missed your last message because it was full.

I was thinking last night about taking a throw blanket with me. Since great minds think alike, I believe I will take one. It will certainly be nice on the balcony.

Dublin is South. 3 exits off I16 - going toward Savannah. We are 45 min. South of Macon, not quite 1 1/2 hours North of Statesboro, and about 2 1/2 hours North of Savannah.

I plan on buying one of those plug ins with 3 or 4 access. So, not really a powerstrip, but will get the job down like one.

I downloaded the Disney countdown App to my Iphone, only 27 days!!:cool1:

On our Baltic cruise - our stateroom hostess brought us a blanket to keep in stateroom for sitting out on verandah early morning or late evening - when we weren't using it, we just kept it folded up real small and stored on corner of the couch.

During that trip, we were in so many different time zones, our poor bodies never knew what time it was.

:banana::banana:
We got our documents

Love Mickey Mail.

I'm thrilled DH is off his deployment. We are excited about this vacation. I can't wait to see what cool things we are going to do, the shopping both on ship and off, and can't wait to spend time with family. Time to plan what to pack:upsidedow

DD is like her Mom:rolleyes1, and is very crafty. She has found Micky pattern fabric and without a pattern sewed a skirt. Pretty sure she is bring with her on the cruise.

On a side note: a friend posted on Facebook a video she found the 11th Dr Who singing "Let it Go". It was funny.

I just discovered Teva 2 months ago and bought a pair. But mine are tall boots. SO COMFORTABLE. :cloud9:

Glad the info was helpful to you. :goodvibes I can sleep through anything so noise from the theatre won't affect me. But I do imagine there might be a bit of noise after midnight for the Maleficent premEAR on May 30. Not sure how loud the film could actually get to disturb the staterooms, but if there is any noise coming up it will be at least 135 mins worth of it. :confused3

Would earplugs help you?

K I will re-send.

Cabela's often has great deals on Gortex rain jackets and pants at the end of the season, so now may be a good time. Last year I got my husband and I both complete Gortex rain gear for close to half off. We live on the Oregon Coast, so definitely ALWAYS need rain gear, lol.
