May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Many of you have posted requests for FE gift ideas. I know of three Facebook sites dedicated to Fish Extenders and Gifts. They are:

FISH EXTENDER DISNEY CRUISE LINE
FISH EXTENDERS AND GIFTS FOR SALE
EVERYTHING FISH EXTENDER

Take a look. I'm confident you will get many great ideas from these sites.

Thank you so much for the answers.
I may pack all my pants in my carry-on!

Is the temperature in your stateroom controlled by a thermostat?

Is there a way to have the fan set to "on" for white noise?

FE gifts for the b2bers are almost finished! Now I just have to order my FE gifts for everyone else!

We're having a super mild winter and I'm jealous of those in the lower 48 who are getting our winter weather! Hopefully we'll have gorgeous weather for the cruise!

Please take my winter weather!!! It is currently 0F with a windchill of -13F and is going down to -13F with a windchill of -29F here in Calgary

Is everyone planning to bring US$ to tip room service and such? As a Canadian sailing out of a Canadian port I was just going to bring Canadian cash to tip but a post on the main board has me unsure if that will still be ok...

We are planning on bringing some Canadian cash to use for busses and so forth while in Vancouver, but we will use US dollars for tips onboard. You can also add tips to the receipt and it will come off your OBC.

The only thing I was thinking about needing ash tips for was room service... I think I'm just going to tip in Canadian, it's money and they will be in Vancouver at least a day a week and they will need some supplies while there.

My daughter's renewed passport FINALLY came in the mail today. :woohoo: Took 6 weeks and 6 days to get it back.

FE Lists:

I have appointments during the day tomorrow so I won't be able to finish the FE lists until I get back home, but they will be out tomorrow! I've PMd those I'm still waiting to hear from to confirm I have your correct info with no typos.

Hello All! :wave2:

I was curious if anyone knew whether or not the Disney Cruise App will be working on the Wonder when we set sail. (I asked this on the B2B San Diego forum also.) I've read that it is working on the other three ships, but I can't find any info about the Wonder. It would be nice to see the Navigator info on our phones instead of carrying around the paper versions. It has some really neat features. It gives all of the menu info, so you are able to decide what you want to eat that night. It also shows all of the Navigators for the entire cruise - no more waiting to plan your days. You can select favorites on the schedules for things you don't want to miss - no need for highlighters.

Not sure if you noticed the change on your phone yet or not but I updated the app recently (just didn't look at it until today) and it now says "Now available onboard Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Magic."

And the DCL site adds "—and will soon be available for the Disney Wonder" Hopefully that "soon" means by the time we sail. :scratchin

Good for you for treating yourself. I think your rate ;) I have no clue where it would be on the Wonder. But when we check in at the port, there should be a Navigator handed out and it should have the info. I know I will need to be beelining it over there to get all our Palo Brunches under one time versus the individual times:headache: The joys of differant booking windows

Thank you! I'm doing a spa treatment too. :cloud9: Just haven't decided which yet.

Hopefully you're first on line (or at least in a favorable place toward the front) and all your ressies get linked up into one. :goodvibes

It will be in Wavebands on the Wonder. The navigator will tell you want time they will start taking reservations. We will be heading there too as we need to add people to our reservation.

Thank you! I knew somebody had the answer. :thumbsup2

And now that you say Wavebands I realize it was Rockin' Bar D on the Magic, not Studio Sea. (If anyone needed a future reference) :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the answers.

I pack pants in my carry on also. Helps so much with weight.

Yep, the temp in your stateroom is controlled by a thermostat. I haven't been able to get it to do what I want, but it's there.

I'm of no help on your last question though. :confused3 I never even thought about it, but I'm sure someone else has the answer.

TA sent email saying it was now available on the Magic, when I asked about the Wonder, she said they had no word yet, maybe after its next drydock.:worried: I hope she is wrong, and its before we cruise.

That's all I could remember was Rockin' Bar D, I couldn't remember the name on the Wonder until I read the post. :goodvibes

I have been on the Dream and there was no fan, but I haven't been on the Wonder so I am not certain.

The cruise gods smiled on us and we are also confirmed and paid in full for the 5 nighter

My eye is healing and vision getting better every day but I am so tired of the eye drops

Find out this week when I can get the second eye done - of what Kara is calling my 'bad' eye

Thanks for the info! I hadn't checked the app recently. "Soon" sounds very promising! On the DCL site in the FAQ for the Navigator App it says they will be "adding new features every step of the way." Now I really want it to be working by the time we sail! :sail:

I made it before midnight! The group lists have been emailed out.

We are separated into 3 groups:
Group Mickey
Group Minnie
Group Tinker Bell

Everyone who is participating can find out which group you are in when you check your email. Please check your spam if you do not see it in your main inbox.

Each group has received separate emails with different slightly different information in each. Hopefully you don't find many typos. It's been a looooong day. :faint:

Sorry I was part of your shock. :scared1: I still have a hard time that my daughter is a teen. Pretty soon I'll be in your boat.

Thanks! Just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, subtracting for "own" stateroom, the numbers work out to:

  • Mickey group gives to up to 40 staterooms and receives from 12 staterooms.
  • Tinker Bell group gives to 16 staterooms and receives from up to 29 staterooms.
  • Minnie group gives to 10 staterooms and receives from up to 23 staterooms.

Do I have this right :thumbsup2 or am I confused again. :confused3

Not necessarily and that is definitely not the expectation. There were people months ago who said they would give to everyone even if they did not get the same amount of gifts back so I agreed back in September that I would give the option for people who chose to give to up to 100 people or "the whole ship" that they could choose to do so. You certainly to not have to give to all three groups. You can exchange with only your group if you want to or outside of your group. But no one is expected to give to beyond what they can handle. The extra information was just there if you wanted the option. I don't expect everyone in Group Mickey to want the option, but at least there is enough within that group to exchange with.

This is a general message for all FE Participants: (it's not geared at you MousseauMob, it just happens to be on your same post because I see me getting flamed very soon if I don't explain this.)
Sorry everyone. I didn't mean to be confusing. I don't want to upset anyone. And I had hoped to keep this off the boards. I split the groups based on what was asked for and made it as flexible as possible. I did not divide by amount of cabins because some like to give to each person in each stateroom so the easiest way to get around that is to do it by people count and let each participant decide if they want to go beyond their group or not to. Some people had to drop out because they realized they can't handle the extra weight in their luggage. Each of you know what you can handle and I never wanted to decide for anyone what they could handle so I accommodated the best I could. There just were not enough people who voted to give to "up to 100 people" or "the whole ship" to make a huge group, but there were enough to combine the two categories and at least make a decent sized group.

As I explained to someone else tonight, I created the smaller groups first because I knew they did not want to go over a specific number. It just so happened that the amount of votes that came in for each of those categories (minus those who jumped ship) worked out almost perfectly because each of the 2 smaller groups went 2 - 4 people over their max.

Stateroom-wise the groups are split within a close range, but anyone who wanted to give beyond their group was always welcome to do so.

I took the following down tonight since the lists are out and it seemed outdated, but I will put it here again. This is what was on the FE post pertaining to group splits since September when there was confusion on how the groups would be split:

Group split?
As of now the answer is still Yes. I will not post who is in which group until the final list, but here is the general idea: Clarified A/O 09/10/13

* You can choose groups of 20-30 people, 30-40 people, and 40-50 people. Rather than make a decision that might make this fun exchange activity become a frustrating nightmare, I will do my best to accommodate all 3 requests. No worries: I will not split up a stateroom or a party of more than one stateroom into separate groups. Remember, you won't know who is in your group until the final list comes out.

* If you are just joining us, the option to vote for group size be found on the sign up form.

* If you signed up already but do not remember what you voted for feel free to email me and I will help refresh your memory.

* Anyone who requested "Up to 100 people" or "Doesn't matter to me. I'll give to the whole ship if they sign up!" will still have the option to deliver to all participants.

To clarify for everyone, I wasn't criticizing. I just hadn't seen it done like this before and I wanted to make sure I understood. In our previous experiences for people wanting to give to more than the group size they were placed in multiple groups, that way like everyone else, they receive from everyone they give to. This one is different, which is fine! I needed to clearly understand to set the appropriate expectation for my DD(11) who has worked really hard on our FE's for everyone, that our receiving group is much smaller than we've ever had before, and about a 1/3 of what we'll be giving, that way she won't be disappointed.

To the other groups, my DD(11) is a sweetie, and LOVES to give and is very excited about it, but she also gets very excited to find things in our FE pockets, so if you find you have an extra item for a tween girl we're in stateroom 8540. :goodvibes

To MoonDaughter, thanks for doing this, and thanks for the clarification! No flames from this fellow pirate: mutineer.

Hi there:

I am in the Tinkerbell group and have a GTY room assignment. I contacted DCL to find out when the rooms will be assigned. They said we should get our room assignments about three weeks prior to the cruise. I will let you know ours once DCL tells me.

Thank you so much for the hard work you put into organizing the Fish Extender Gift Exchange.

Oh no I never thought you were criticizing, and I hope no one else took it as though you were. :goodvibes

You are not the first one to be surprised and/or confused by this. The other conversations just happened through email. It's just the way your post was phrased that looked like the exchange was completely unfair and that the smaller group votes benefited most. I just wanted to clarify to the whole group that there are zero expectations to give beyond your group before someone got upset. :firefight It only takes a spark and then woosh :furious: I'm served up on a platter. LOL

Again to all FE Participants and (not directed at MousseauMob :goodvibes):
I apologize if I was confusing to anyone else who got their supplies and started their gifts before I put out the lists. I honestly thought I was being clear this whole time. And I kept referring everyone back to page 1 of this this thread for updates. I know I'm long winded and it was a lot of information, but it answered everyone's questions throughout this entire thread. I guess I should have never taken down the bit I had in my post about "I know your fingers are itching to making your gifts, but don't start yet." But I assumed by having "You won't know who is in your group until your final list comes out" took care of it.

I had hoped to leave the extra gift giving entirely up to each individual, but since I want to enjoy my vacation, not tiptoe around the ship because of an FE :tiptoe:... If there is anyone else who already has gifts beyond their group and wants to get back what they put in, if you have not already done so, go back to your emails and sign up for the "Lost Boys" group. I will rearrange it so that instead of waiting for last minute people to sign up I will get it started with who we have and your gifts won't go to waste. Please note: this will be in addition to the group you are already in. It does not start an entirely new group and remove you from your old one.

I can't promise it won't be sign ups from people already in your group, but I can say that you do not have to give to the same person/stateroom twice just because they are in the same 2 groups you are in. And when anyone else new comes in they will be added to that group. I need a few more days to get this done as I just started that sign up yesterday and need a bit of time to format the spreadsheet.
