May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

Becky,
Thanks for the welcome! I hope that Ike veers off and you all are spared. It seems like this year the hurricanes seem to be lining up one after the other.
I hope none of them damage Castaway Cay again either.

Lisa

Welcome Princess Treesa! Congrats on the law school graduation.

Our family consists of me, DH, & 2 DDs (8 & 6 at the time of cruise).
Angie

Thanks Angie!
It turns out that my mom, dad, sister, brother, respective spouses, and nieces and nephews have all decided to come and celebrate with me, so its become quite the family affair. We are so excited. I'm especially excited to watch my niece and nephew (who will both be about 3 1/2) explore the ship and see the characters.

Hi everyone - I booked this cruise while on the Magic 5 night cruise - that was so much fun - even with Hannah creating a bit of a stir. Was anyone else on that cruise?

My DH and DD (who will be 14) are so excited.

With life events lately, I have not even had one chance to feel excited about this cruise. But I am trying to get back in the Disney Spirit! :wizard:

I am taking an online course so that has been keeping me busy! (I should actually be working on it now...:rolleyes1 but wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing!)

As a note, the gift exchange was really a lot of fun on the 5-night cruise. Lots of really creative gifts. Also, Hygenie did a great job on the lanyards.:thumbsup2

Sorry I haven't really jumped in and chatted lately i should say rarely. But we have been soooo busy since our WDW trip in May! We found an apartment 10.2 miles from the Magic Kingdom, and we leave 2am tomorrow for the trip down to move into it!

So I will be a Florida Resident officially on Saturday Morning!!!!

We are getting excited about the cruise but we have to get settled into the apartment, and we have a WDW vacation planned over Christmas to get through first! Hopefully by then the excursions will be out so I can work on choosing what we will be doing!

I will try and check in more often once I am settled!

Hi everyone!

Well, I just got off my 4-night family cruise on the Wonder this morning so I can finally focus on this cruise, which will be part of my honeymoon.

Really looking forward to getting back on a Disney ship! Has the group talked about doing fish extender exchanges yet?

Amy :)

Oh yes, I'm all for doing a fish extender giftexchange! One of my friends that I recently sailed with is a master quilter. She had never seen a FE before but decided she would like to quilt one for us. She is actually booked to be on this cruise, but i believe it might just be a "phantom" booking, so I haven't introduced her to this board yet (not very computer savvy) Anyway, I look forward to my new specially made FE!

Welcome to all the newbies!

heather: hope things are looking up for you.......you've had some troubling times recently and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your work in organizing the list. Now if we could only get more folks to send photos......

Aww, I am jealous! I MISS being a Fl Resident (well I miss the beaches and day/weekend trips to Disney!!!) Good Luck on your move!! We also have a December trip planned to Disney! :santa:

I'd be interrested in fish extender exchanges also! (never done it before...but from what I read it is lots of fun!!!)

Also, I'd like to get the kids that are close in age to "talk" online and get to know each other before the cruise! (maybe after the holidays we could start that!)

Thanks! :goodvibes I did get some info to add to the list and one picture emailed to me....I just need to add that picture! So send those pictures to me!!! You can post it in the thread here or PM me for my email address and you can email it to me!

We didn't have a fish extender on our 1 and only cruise. Maybe I'll sew one for this cruise. It won't be quilted like jeanneg's though.

You can usually find some on E-bay if you don't want to go to the trouble of making one yourself. Of course, if Disney were smart they could produce their own and sell them in the cruise gift shop or perhaps or even allow you to order them before you sail.

I made ours and it wasn't too difficult. I'm definitely not a sewer - I made the entire thing without even one stitch. I just followed some directions I found in another thread on the board and used liquid stitch glue - worked great.

We had seventeen families participate on our cruise this time and got LOTS of things - definitely added a bit of fun to come back to the cabin and find surprises waiting. We don't have any kids, but I imagine it was even more fun for those who did. :)

Do we have any idea yet when we'll know what excursions will be available?

Do you happen to know what the thread was with the instructions? I'm a sewer (or used to be pre-kids) (ok, sewer doesn't look right but I guess it's a real word) so I could probably figure it out ... just easier to have instructions. I'm too cheap to go buy one off of Ebay when I know I can make it.

We had someone leave things at our door on pirate night but that was it. I would be interested in doing more on this cruise. My girls would get a kick out of it.

Not sure when we're get info on excursions ... maybe at the beginning of next year. Does anyone know when the 1st cruise to Tortola is?

I'd like to find that post also! I can't sew, but my mom can!!! It would give her something to do! She loves to make things for our trips. (our last cruise she embroidered minnie on a bright pink beach bag for me! and made a few shirts for ds!)

I think it would be fun for kids and adults to do the FE! We'll def had to set this up. The 1st cruise is in April I think (it is the only one before ours!)

Thanks for the link Amy! I'll have to read it this weekend!

Yeah, after the holidays will be a good time to get things going! The time will really fly on by then!

I ordered 3 t-shirts from disneystore.com yesterday! They were on sale for $5.00 each. I got one for ds and dh and will give them as christmas presents(with a note that says it is for the cruise!) I"ll just save mine for the cruise. I got beach towels for Ds for his bday and dh for fathers day. SO we've got a couple of things already! :thumbsup2
