May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I'll have to find out what our school allows for the pick-up. The parking lot was empty so I certainly could have parked. The way the drive-thru line works is that each car has a #. As you're driving through the line, a teacher is going to down the line & radioing your # in on a walkie-talkie. They release the kids to the covered breezeway based on their carpool #. By the time you get to the covered breezeway, your child is waiting. I wonder if I could just walk up with my carpool # instead.

Ang

Your school sounds efficient at least! :thumbsup2 Keheley did the #'s for awhile - must not have worked well enough, because they didn't last long! (of course, this is going back about 9 or 10 years!)

I wouldn't have done it had I not seen other moms congregating near the covered breezeway! And I will admit, there were several days where I waited in the carpool line -- not wanting to be sociable those days!! :)

I'm glad to hear Ashley had a good first day. And happy to see that big sis helped her out!!

At our school (the middle and intermediate schools are practically connected)..there is a bus area and the car rider pick up. The two schools share a parking lot and most of the teachers park there. NO WHERE for parents to park. We have a big hill to go down and then back up. It is always a mess!! You have to form two lines, and once you see your child you drive down the middle. This works GREAT for about the first 4-5 minutes!:rotfl: Right now ds is riding the bus, but they are riding 3 to a seat and he is the last to be dropped off (an hour and 15 minutes after school gets out). I thought it was only supposed to be two kids to a seat? (the high school and middle schools share the same bus). Looks like I'll be picking him up again when I can.

Hi everybody

Very busy as we ready for our trip to Fla, in 17 days or so.

We got lucky last week and I scored 3 tickets for Celine Dions opening night of her world tour here in Boston, My mom wanted to go, so I kept a close eye on ticketmaster and they opened up another block of seats for the show just last week, We all had a fun time, just 14 rows from the stage!

Mom, was extremely happy and that was the most important thing.

ok Peace out Peter

Jeanneg, Have a great time on the 15 night, see ya as you get off the ship and we get on!!!

Hi all! Sorry to say we are canceling our booking on this cruise. :sad1:

Too many issues with my aging parents and some other stuff! :headache:

Thought I'd give you a heads up in case anyone wanted to book the SPH. I'll be calling DCL around lunchtime today.

I know y'all will have a fabulous cruise.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear you won't be on the cruise. I hope everything is ok and you'll hopefully be able to cruise at another time in the future. Take care!:goodvibes

My husband and I just booked this cruise and we can't wait! We will be celebrating my Law School Graduation so May can't come fast enough. Hopefully it will be here before we know it! YAY!

Princess T,

Welcome Aboard! I know what you mean, we are all very excited about this cruise as well!! Have you done a Disney cruise before? This will be the fourth for DH and I - you are truly in for a magical time!

Becky

Becky,

Actually it will be our 5th disney cruise, but our first one in 4 years. And trust me, it's been a long 4 years! We live in the midwest now, but I grew up in Central Florida and we used to live in Orlando, so taking the cruise was much less work...Needless to say though we are just as excited as we were after booking the first one. Plus, we haven't been on since they put the big movie screen up by the pool, so we are super pumped about that!

Welcome to the cruise!! Ds and I haven't been on a cruise since our first DCL 5/05, 4 night. So this is our first 7 night and the first cruise ever for DH! Dh lived in Orlanod and I lived near the Tampa area. Just moved last year. So I know what you mean when it was so much less work to get there!

Just a little under 9 months to go! It should fly on by!!!:cool1:

Hi,
I am looking at booking this one. Dreams has some rooms available and I am awaiting a quote. It would just be myself and dh. Leaving the ds at home to take care of the animals. :)

I haven't read the whole thread yet, so forgive me if this was mentioned, who has traveled the Eastern before at this time of year? How's the weather? Is it as nice as the Western always is? this would be dh and mine
7th Disney cruise, we mainly have done the Western itin, so I am excited to try the Eastern, especially with Tortola!

Anyway, just wanted to chime in and say it looks like we will be sailing with ya.

Welcome Princess Treesa! Congrats on the law school graduation.

Our family consists of me, DH, & 2 DDs (8 & 6 at the time of cruise).

We did the special western (2 CC days) at the same exact week in 2006. The weather was beautiful. I'm hoping for the same next year.

Well, I am finally home from our PC cruise. It was a total blast! And I even got to wave to Peter and Jenn before they boarded the ship! My next cruise is this one so you guys will get all my attention now! Is it too soon to start planning events?

RachelTori: sorry to hear you won't be joining us. I hope everything that is going on in your life turns out for the best.

To all the new cruisers joining us: :welcome:

Ok, I went ahead and booked this cruise! DH and I wanted to try a different itin and this one looks good. Plus it is a Dreams group cruise so I "think" we got a good price. Since we are using points for airfare, hotel and rental car, even if I didn't get a good price, it should all even out...right?:thumbsup2

I sure hope this thread gets a bit more active once we get closer to our cruise date....that is part of the fun getting to chat with fellow cruisers.:goodvibes

So here i am to say "hi!" It will be myself and dh sailing, our 7th Disney cruise, but first without our ds. He is none too happy about this, but with college and work, he can't make it. We are staying in a veranda cabin on deck 6.

Looking forward to chatting with you all over the next 8 months.

Lisa

Welcome Lisa!

We are excited as well - May just can't get here soon enough! We also booked our trip thru Dreams, got a cabin with a veranda on deck 6 and a great discount! This will be our 4th DCL cruise. I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone as well. Right now, my focus is on IKE, who is knocking on our back door. We are out of the "Cone of Concern" for the moment. All it's going to take is for Ike to move a little to the north and wham! - we could be back in the path again. Ah, Florida living! :scared1:
