May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

I just received a call from Amtrak about the Seattle to Vancouver train on the morning of Sunday, 5/20. There will not be a Business Class car on this run.

Our BC seats were cancelled and we are reserved in Coach. Also, we must redeem our ticket voucher at a ticket window instead of a ticket kiosk. I opted to get our refund at the ticket window when we pick up our tickets.

We got the same one - I wonder what happened to the car.:confused3

We just upgraded our cabin, switched up from a 9D to a 9B, decided it was worth it to have the bigger porthole and better view. So, for Fish Extender purposes, we are now cabin 2582 officially. Paid in full, ready to book Palo (if any are still open) on the 6th/7th. Woohoo!

Check your pricing on the Amtrak if you bought business class and now are in coach. Their pricing tiers work a little oddly, and I remember I paid an upgraded coach fare to get business class. So when they canceled business class, it left me with a higher price for coach than I would have had to pay. I just cancelled and rebooked coach and saved $20+.

I just got off the phone with DCL and got the following information:

The 3 dining rotations are:
A) T A P T A P T
B) A P T A P T A
C) P T A P T A P

("T" = Triton's, "A" = Animator's Palace, "P" = Parrot Cay)

Formal/Captain's Gala: Night 2, Tuesday (05/22)
Pirates: Night 4, Thursday (05/24)
Semi-Formal: Night 6, Saturday (05/26)

So depending on your rotation you'd end up with one of the following
Mon - T A P
Tue - A P T (Formal/Captain's Gala Night)
Wed - P T A
Thu - T A P (Pirates Night)
Fri - A P T
Sat - P T A (Semi-Formal Night)
Sun - T A P

You can request a certain rotation and they'll take that into consideration when assigning the rotations, but there's no guarantees. When we requested a specific rotation for our Mexican Riviera cruise in October, we did get the one we asked for.

We are trying to figure out when we want to do Palo, and are thinking that the least appealing menu is the Captain's Gala one. But there seems to be conflicting info on when this night is taking place. The info above links the Captain's Gala night with Formal attire on night #2. Last year's Alaska sailings seemed to all have Formal attire on night #2 but with the Golden Mickey's menu (and then Captain's Gala on night #6 with semi-formal attire). I am not doubting the above info, but am curious about the difference. Is it likely that last year's order has been changed around? For those who have done other 7 night trips, is there any sort of standard that Captain's Gala usually is before or after Golden Mickey's? Which version is likely to be true? Should we try for Palo on night #2 or night #6?

Thanks!

Would you please add us to the roll call and Fe list?

Thanks Janice

Not sure if anyone else is flying Jetblue, but keep an eye on the prices for your flight if you are. Our flight home from Seattle dropped $42 per person and they'll give you a credit for the difference if you call and ask!

On every other 7 night report I've read, the Formal Night is the Golden Mickeys normally the first of the two, and the Captain's Gala is the Semi Formal Night, the second of them.

Having only done a four and 2 night cruise, we have Palo for night one and a request to start our rotation at Parrot Cay (or least favorite of the rotational) But even if we don't, we know we've had the rotational menu before.

I actually called DCL and spoke with someone about this, then called again and confirmed the rotations with another Cast Member a couple of days later before posting it. I've only done one 7-night cruise (this past October), and we had a Halloween day thrown into the mix, so everything was a bit off because of that.

I'll call them again tonight when I get off work and double check. They may have had incorrect information before, and if so, I may need to request a different rotation! :)

Are their any other airline Employees joining us? DCL is releasing interline rates for this cruise Monday morning, so you might consider cancelling and rebooking. We are going to, hopefuly we'll be able to save enough to upgrade to a veranda! I just have to make sure I understand the logistics of it all...

hey everyone. just booked and so excited to be cruising again. last cruise was double dip 2 years ago.
dis name felkos (felice), selma(dgm), tank 13, brittany 11

late dining
I booked my airfare using amex points. feel so lucky to not have that expense.
looking at hotels in vancouver and seattle and trying to decide if it is worth splurging or not.
Are there any special tips or ideas on what to pack? last 2 cruises were in caribbean so whether was different.

I just got off the phone with DCL and now they're saying there isn't going to be a Pirate's Night at all! I'm going ot call back in a bit and double check with someone else.

Formal night is still listed as Day 2, and that's going to be the Captain's Gala menu. Semi-Formal is on Saturday (Day 6).

She also said they're having the "Taste of Alaska" menu, but she didn't know which night that was going to be.

How many people do we have signed up for fish extenders so far? Is there a tentative list out there? I can't wait to start making my gifts!

Got my dress for formal night yesterday, the most expensive dress i've ever purchased bar my wedding dress, i'm normally the queen of bargains but no sales anywhere, and no good dresses in the cheaper shops. Had to get it now though as about to move house so won't have any free weekends to shop. Shouldn't need to buy any other outfits though.

Welcome to the group :grouphug:

Michelle's mom here. She has been at DW this week with her BFF and her 2 kids. I know the first thing on her list to do when she returns is to get the FE list together and organized. Give her a day or so and I know she'll have it ready for you.:surfweb:

I'm curious if that is true - I know we don't have fireworks -- but I think canceling pirates night would be a bit much.

I'm just hoping we still get the "remember the magic" show on the last night :hippie:

DH and I went to San Pedro to see the ship off today - they left so early that they were halfway down the channel when they did the countdown and horn blowing.

How do you find that out? My MIL is a retired flight attendent, would that count? I sent my TA an email asking her too.
