May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

I'm curious if that is true - I know we don't have fireworks -- but I think canceling pirates night would be a bit much.

Ok, so now both my mother & I have called DCL, as well as our TA (at least twice more each). Pirate's night is now apparantly set for night 5, which is Juneau day (I was originally told it was set for night 4, Skagway day). I suppose this is better, because we'll be leaving Juneau at 5:30pm, while Skagway is our longest in-port day leaving at 7:30pm.

So, here are the revised scheduled nights:
Mon - T A P
Tue - A P T (Formal/Captain's Gala Night)
Wed - P T A
Thu - T A P
Fri - A P T (Pirates Night) pirate:
Sat - P T A (Semi-Formal Night)
Sun - T A P

I was also told that one of the Alaska sailings won't have a Pirates night (no idea why), but that it wouldn't be ours.

I'm just wondering why they don't all have the same story, it should be in their computers by now! It's a bit odd.

They often make me wonder if they just make up answers. Haha. I've been trying for almost 2 months to get an official answer on whether we're sailing the inside passage on our way out of Vancouver or not. There are two different maps shown on the website depending where you look. This is important to me because we're doing our vow renewal that day and I'll probably put up with the cold of being on deck if we will have a view of the inside passage as a backdrop rather than the open ocean. So far no one seems to be able to find out where we're sailing. The last person finally said that "on our past sailings to Alaska, we took the inside passage", but that's the most definitive answer I could get. A few have said that the incorrect map will be removed from the website, but so far it hasn't and they didn't know which was the incorrect one. How do they not know where the ship will be sailing?! Can you tell this has gotten me worked up? :lmao:

How do you find that out? My MIL is a retired flight attendent, would that count? I sent my TA an email asking her too.

I got an e-mail from an interline travel agency showing our date as a new addition. However, when I called DCL to book, they said that it wouldn't be available for booking until the 5th.

that said - I called DCL about an hour ago and the cruise is still not available for interline rates. I'm just hoping they decide to release the rates today or tomorrow, otherwise we're in the cancellation penalty phase - which would probably eat up any savings...

My understanding is that most travel agents don't work with interline rates - but your MIL might contact DCL directly to see if she's eligible or work with one of the interline travel agencies on line once they are available. (I've used interlinerates.com and dargal.com in the past and been happy with both of them.)

hope this helps!!!

Wow! I can certainly understand your wanting to know where we're going to be on that day! Congratulations on the Vow Renewals! :)

Hopefully we'll go up the inside passage, and you'll have some wonderful views... AND they'll know absolutely for sure, AND in time for you to request where you want to be! :)

Our TA said she thinks the confusion regarding the Pirates Night lies with the fact that there won't be any fireworks. Some Cast Members are confusing the "no fireworks" with "no Pirates Night", which does make a certain kind of sense. But if I were a DCL CM, I'd make absolutely certain before I told anyone there would be no Pirates Night! :)

Hi all!

I have created a spreadsheet with the Fish Extender information on it. If you are participating, please PM me your e-mail address and I will send it out to you. Once I have your address, I'll use it to send out updates to the list as room numbers/etc change.

Thanks!!
Michelle

Hi all!

If you have a child on the FE, would you mind sending me a PM specifying male or female? There are some names that could be either male or female and there are some families that have chosen to not provide names. (I will also try to go back through and see which were identified as such in the initial requests.)

Thanks!!
Michelle

hey everyone. just booked and so excited to be cruising again. last cruise was double dip 2 years ago.
dis name felkos (felice), selma(dgm), tank 13, brittany 11
rm: 8588
fe-yes
late dining
I booked my airfare using amex points. feel so lucky to not have that expense.
looking at hotels in vancouver and seattle and trying to decide if it is worth splurging or not.
Are there any special tips or ideas on what to pack? last 2 cruises were in caribbean so whether was different.

I have added your info to the first page

I just got off the phone with DCL and now they're saying there isn't going to be a Pirate's Night at all! I'm going ot call back in a bit and double check with someone else.

Formal night is still listed as Day 2, and that's going to be the Captain's Gala menu. Semi-Formal is on Saturday (Day 6).

She also said they're having the "Taste of Alaska" menu, but she didn't know which night that was going to be.

I assume they just mean no fireworks but who knows. :confused3

How many people do we have signed up for fish extenders so far? Is there a tentative list out there? I can't wait to start making my gifts!

The list will close on March 7th - so we should have a final count soon!

Does anyone know if Catholic Mass is offered on the Wonder while we are at sea?

No it is not. It is only offered on special days like Easter and Christmas. We simply go to the non-denominational service if they have one. Although we got a treat on the '08 PC - there was a priest traveling in our Dis group and het got permission to have Mass twice - my DD got to be an altar server during it. :)

No problem at all! I have you added to the roll call too!

Is anybody doing before boarding the Wonder a tour with www.vancouvertours.com (Land Sea Tours) on Saterday or Sunday?

Our hotel recommended this tour company. We will be doing the
Vancouvery City Highlights on Saterday and the North Shore and Capilano Suspension BridgeTour on Sunday.

Any reviews?

Light Rail goes from downtown directly to Seatec. That's what we plan on doing.

Sounds good - How do you get to Light Rail downtown? Do you know the costs? I am concerned about moving the luggage for 5 people x2 bags each.
Thanks

I just went to the port of seattle. The Wonder is docking on Pier 91, not 66 that we saw in our last visit to Seattle.

I'm sure we'll still find our way to the Light Rail, but I didn't want it out there that I thought it was just a short walk to the Light Rail station.
