May 2014 Discout Watch

You are welcome! We've been twice and I said that we'll never do it again. There were people lined up for hours and hours. One lady said that her husband got in line at 4:00 a.m.:faint:

Oh dear! Now I'm worried. Was 4am just to get into the Park? We don't really care about Star Wars (I'm a Treki actually), but we'll be there for two days after a cruise and I really wanted to take my friends to Hollywood Studios (2 have never been). Should I reconsider?

They have not official announced SWW yet for 2014, however you can count on them being usually taking place during the last two weekends in May and the first two weekends in June. HOWEVER, with the last weekend in May being a split between May and June we are all in a holding/guessing game as to the true dates.

As an attendee of SWW I can tell you for a fact that DHS on the weekends it is occurring is nearly as busy as it is during the week between Christmas and New Years! In addition it has a totally different event schedule, for the shows and parades that occur during those weekends. Unless you are going to DHS for SWW I advise not going to that park during those days. I even get overwhelmed :faint: with the crowds and I am there for the event!

Just my two cents!

They were in line to get Fastpasses for certain characters/stars. Once those are distributed, the lines do move to the turnstiles. There's Star Wars Weekend specific merchandise and some is limited edition so some head straight for the merchandise.

As I said above, we've been and won't be going back if I can help it. What days would you be going to HS?

OMGosh.... we are in the same boat!! Plus this is the first time to DW. I am not liking planning EVERYTHING so far out. Makes me want to stick to DL. ;)

OMG..this is how I feel. Im an annual passholder for DL and I wouldn't imagine planning out ANYTHING. I just know how to do everything to get the most of my days and I do it.
Not knowing WDW and having to plan fp+ rides and attractions is stressful.

Just started booking our May trip. Got a great deal in air fare $1089 for five people round trip from New England. Now I just need the room discounts to come out soon. I'll take anything -- public or annual pass holder. Not sure which resort we will stay at. It will depend on the room discounts that are available.

This is going to be a trip with all of my older kids. Probably one of the last times we will all be able to go together before everyone's lives get crazy. So excited.

Our Hollywood Studios day would be Sunday May 18th. We were going to do Hollywood Studios in the morning then hop over to Epcot for dinner and fireworks.
Does anyone know when they'll announce Star Wars weekend? What you all describe sounds like something worth avoiding for us.

‘Star Wars’ Weekends 2013 Dates Announced

“Luke, We’re gonna have company!” — Han Solo

If your starship can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs (I’m still trying to figure out how fast that is), set your hyperdrive for the Disney’s Hollywood Studios sector for May and early June, for the 2013 edition of Star Wars Weekends.

This year’s Force-filled fun will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 17 – June 9, 2013.

Quite honestly, if I were you, I'd avoid the park. As I said before, I've done it a couple of times and that was more than enough for my family. Even my Star Wars loving 16 year old wants to make sure that we schedule our HS day on any day BUT a SWW day.

Nooooooo!! Lol

One of my friends will be very disappointed. (I kind of am too). I'll pass the information along and see what they decide.

Thanks for sharing!! It would have been horrible to go not expecting this.

Those are 2013 dates. Still no announcement for 2014 ;)

I knew that but wanted to give the poster a general idea of when the announcement for 2013 was made and date ranges.:thumbsup2

Oh, so there's still hope! I should have read more carefully .

Okay, so is there an anti Star Wars dance or ritual I can perform to ward away the weekend? Lol

(Disclaimer: No offense to Star Wars fans intended. I liked the movies; just not a big fan of crowds).

Sorry honey but I'm betting that you could dance like a mad person, burn sage, hold your breath until your face turned blue or any number of things and they'll still have Star Wars Weekends. :lmao: I'm sure that it brings in visitors from anywhere and everywhere and Disney racks up the money.

Looking at the past weekends that Star Wars Weekends have been held, it seems like it starts on the second to last weekend of May. Next year that would be May 23 (Friday).

What if you were going to go there strictly for breakfast? Like sleep in and go to the park for a 10'ish ADR at Hollywood & Vine, eat and leave? My in laws and my DH would really like to do our Wishes Dessert Party on our last full day of our vacation, so that means we'd be doing our H&V breakfast on that day too... which would be Sat. 5-31. Would just going to H&V be that crazy?
