May 2014 Discout Watch

Can I ask you what airport, date & airline? I am checking the first week in May out of MHT and getting $311.00 per person (for direct flights)

We are also looking at May3-10th out of MHT. They have only increased since the fares were released by the way. I am mad I did not book when I first saw it. I ended up paying $141 going down and $156 returning to MHT. I would have saved a lot had I done it the day the rates were released!!! I haven't seen anything less either-although I will only fly non-stop.

What if you were going to go there strictly for breakfast? Like sleep in and go to the park for a 10'ish ADR at Hollywood & Vine, eat and leave? My in laws and my DH would really like to do our Wishes Dessert Party on our last full day of our vacation, so that means we'd be doing our H&V breakfast on that day too... which would be Sat. 5-31. Would just going to H&V be that crazy?

If you were going to just go in, eat and leave, then you'd probably be okay. I would build extra time into getting into the park itself though since there will be more than usual crowds.

Both times that we went, the celebrities had meet and greet booths around the lake there and the walkways were a bit crowded as well.

Hi all! We are going May16-24, staying at Yacht Club. So excited! We did the 180 ADR's this past Sunday and got :
17th- Cape May Character Bkfst. , Coral Reef
18th -Tutto Italia
19th-Sci-Fi lunch and Mama Melrose Fantasmic dinner package
20th -Boma for bkfst and Raglan Road for dinner
21st-Wave for Bkfst and Be Our Guest for dinner (! YEAH!) -hoping for Wishes desert party but not out yet..
22nd - Yachtsman dinner
nothing set for Friday yet other than Kona for Breakfast.
Sure hope some sort of discount comes out or May. Was excited to hear of Spring discount--but it ended in April! Arghh! Hope we get something!!!
Chad

You can get the dessert party at 180+10 now! Go grab it! :) :) :)

Oh, so there's still hope! I should have read more carefully . Okay, so is there an anti Star Wars dance or ritual I can perform to ward away the weekend? Lol (Disclaimer: No offense to Star Wars fans intended. I liked the movies; just not a big fan of crowds).

We didn't find the crowds a problem last year. Steer clear of HS and you'll be fine.

Anyone design their magic bands on the MDE yet? Im wondering if you can out any name you want on the band...like a nickname.

I'm 99% sure you can put anything you want on the bands for personalization. The persons real name (what's listed on the MDE site) is stored within the band or however that technology works.

Yea, you can put whatever you want. The name is on the underside of the band. We are going to do nick names.

WOW…..that is AWESOME~must be because it's Weds-Weds. I am watching the rates closely and hoping they will go down so I can get a credit but I've been watching them slowly creeping up:(

Nice! I am doing Sat/Sat out of Manchester. I can't really leave in the middle of the week.

Thanks for the info & congratulations! :)

Who doing the dining plan and who isn't I'm still debating

We always purchase the dining plan. It's nice to know that everything is paid for ahead of time and there's no worrying about how much something cost. By my calculations, we do come out ahead by using the plan. It's not a huge savings but it is a savings for my family.

We are doing it! From my math (2 adults, 2 kids) we are coming out $220 better with doing it rather than paying OOP. Also, just like the PP said, having it paid ahead if time is a great advantage.

We are doing the dining plan. I don't do the math. We do it for convenience.

I've never paid for the dining plan but I've done it "free" twice. I LOVE that we get to eat places I would skip if we were paying out of pocket. So yes, we probably wouldn't come out ahead $$$, but I like the extra treat of eating at fun restaurants in Epcot, etc.

Also, snack credits work at the Food and Wine Festival, which is AWESOME.

My husband has said that he would never go to Disney without the plan. It's the convenience that we love.

Yep, knowing that everything is paid for ahead of time feels great.

With the dining plan, we are more open to trying new restaurants and more expensive entrees. Throw in a few character meals (not so much now but when the kids were younger) and we definitely came out ahead.
