May 2014 Discout Watch

We'll be going May 12-May 24 and have just changed our room reservations again. :rotfl:Hopefully, getting the discounts for May won't be as crazy as when they released the last room only discounts a little bit ago. Planning on a 2-bedroom villa at Old Key West for 4 nights then two nights at Contemporary followed by 4 night Dream cruise then another 2 nights at Contemporary. Would love to get a good discount on the Contemporary.

Going to be keeping tabs on this thread.
Hoping to visit WDW for the first time next May with my husband and two daughters, ages 4 and 3.

There will be 5 of us total, my 2 "adult" sons ages 29 and 19, DGS who will be turning 7, DH and myself. I think that AoA sounds great, especially the Lion King rooms, but I am worried about the beds there. One is on a pullout couch right? Oldest DS is about 5'5 and Pooh sized, youngest DS is 6'2 and more Goofy sized, lol. I just want to make sure that everyone is comfy at the end of the day.

So there are how many rooms? And there are doors between the rooms? Guess I need to do some research on these. Also can you tell me about the bus service? We have had wonderful bus service at CSR, only once in our 3 trips there have we had to stand and that was at park close. DH is concerned about space and bus service mostly.

I just noticed this!! Sorry it took me so long! The pull out bed in the main room is actually very comfy. My husband pulled it out to test it out, and he was very comfortable (he is 6'4" and is Pooh sized :rotfl:) We didn't pull down the table bed but it looked comfy.

There are doors between the main bedroom and the living/dining room, so your boys would still essentially be in the same room.

We had a great experience with the bus service! I don't think we had a long wait the whole time we were there! They do have their own buses, they don't share like some of the other value resorts.

I'm patiently waiting for the next round of discounts/specials to be announced. Time can speed up at any moment now, it seems like its dragging. :hourglass

I would just love to know...
1 - What will be offered so I can plan out how much it's going to save me?
2 - What's the date that I can call to have it applied to my reservation?
3 - Are there typically any blackout dates in May?

Is that too much for a girl to ask for? I don't think so especially since I'm in a planning lull. :sad1: Can't book our flights until Monday, can't figure out park days until Disney releases the hours, can't book ADRs until November. I don't know what to do with myself. Guess I'll just hang out here on the boards.... :surfweb:

Especially since the 2014 package rates came out a little earlier this year.

Every single year, I think those same things. To answer #3: The majority of our WDW trips have been in May. They have ranged from mid to late May through the first week of June. They usually include Memorial Day and Star Wars Weekends. So far, we haven't run into any blackout dates for promos.

Absolutely not too much to ask for. If so, I'm asking way too much myself. ;)

That is the same pin that I received. But, I also the choice of free dining. Unfortunately, the dates were very limited and ended on March 5th and didn't extend on out to include our May dates. If it had, I'd have jumped on it.

I did take advantage of the 30% off our room at the CBR though. Our dates are May 26th through June 7th so we could only get six of our nights discounted which saved us $386.00.

Yeah, mine had the free dining also, but it was too limited for us. I booked Pop. We are headed down May 22 as soon as my son gets out of class through the 29th. Then we are headed to the "dark side" for a couple of days/nights to check it out! Now that he's 14 we'll have a blast riding all of the coasters.:scared1:

It seems people have grabbed up a lot of the cheap rooms as they are already not available. I'm also a nurse so I'm watching the Dolphin to see how low they'll go with their discount. I love that place! Right now I'm getting 7 nights at Pop, 6 day park hoppers and QS dining for $100 less than what the just the room and tickets would cost with us staying at the Dolphin for the same amount of time.

We will be leaving Louisiana on the 23rd and driving half way. We will finish up the drive and check into the CBR on the 24th but our first two nights are free so our package won't start until the 26th. We are thinking of visiting "the dark side" too. It's been over 10 years since we've been to Universal. Just have to figure out how to see and do everything in one day.

Good luck getting a discount at the Dolphin! We love the convenience of the dining plan so I doubt that we'll ever venture over to the Swan or Dolphin but I just might if the price was right.

You should try the Dolphin or Swan, but be warned, it may be difficult going back to another resort. Being able to walk to the Boardwalk for supper and either walk or take the boat to DHS and Epcot is awesome. We also walk to Epcot and hop on the monorail to MK. The only park we really have to drive to is AK, but there's always the option of the bus. I like taking my car to avoid the sweaty afternoon scent on the bus. My DS actually prefers it over any other resort. Right now I can get the Dolphin with a nurse discount for $159/night. After all the extra charges it actually comes out to $198/night. It's very tempting:)

We drive from central MS and just suck it up and drive all the way through. Going down is easy, but coming back is torture. HA! It takes us about 10 1/2 hours since I tend to go a little fast:rolleyes1

Our drive time varies depending on if my 79 year old Mama travels with us. If she does, we make more frequent stops to let her stretch her legs. Traffic also plays a big part...as you well know. Our "normal" drive is about 14 hours or so. We do break it up going but driving back home, we drive straight through. It sucks!

I would love to receive this PIN. It would be perfect for us.

I really got lucky, got the PIN. Made the call at 11 am and only had a 30 sec hold time on phone. 30% off POR booked May 13-20. I was wanting to wait and find out when Star Wars Weekends starts. I just didn't want to wait and maybe lose out. I really hope it starts on may 16.

I did a quick google search and found this: http://lcdwriter.hubpages.com/hub/Disney-Star-Wars-Weekends

Of course, these are not official dates.

Yea I seen that. I just did not want to be there on memorial weekend May 26. It was crowded enough last year with out memorial weekend. Thanks for the link also

Waiting for discounts for May 2014. Planning an extra trip this year. :)
