May 2012 Car Rentals

ah ha, gotcha! I was thinking I must be missing something re the Dollar experience in MCO;). Our alamo and national experience on MCO aisles always have produced nice, clean, low mileage cars.

LOL regarding the Dollar experience. We have had good luck with Alamo and National in the past, too.

Yes, it will give you the opportunity to keep the new rate or keep the original one. It will show the original and the modified reservation side by side. Her AA FF will suffice.

Hey, thanks - for both answers.:goodvibes Now I don't have to carry yet another piece of paper with me.

we are arriving May 12th and staying through the 19th - I currently have a full size rental with Dollar for $137 (includes taxes). So far I have not been able to get a better rate with Alamo - for those who have rented with Dollar or Alamo - do I need to pay a little more for an Alamo rental? I have to have at least a fullsize car since the hubby is 6'7". Also, I see many of you are using the costco code with Alamo - do they check your member card when you use this? We do not have a Costco in our area so I am not sure how that works. Thanks!

I hope you are able to get your rate down, we used the codes already posted and got a fantastic rate with Alamo. If not, I think you will be happy with Dollar. We used them at MCO in the summer of 2010, and had a very good experience.

They assigned the car, unlike Alamo/National, where you choose your own. However, we booked the "lock low and go" option and were assigned a Dodge Charger. Very nice, new car, although I don't particularly care for the low windshield. Nothing to do with Dollar, though, we had a great experience with them and would book again if they were the cheapest. (sorry gmeh!:) )

ETA: Oh, one thing though - Dollar's counter was all the way down from the escalator at MCO! Yikes, what a hike.

YES! FINALLY! WHOO WHO! SCORE!

Flying into Sanford (SFB) April 28 - May 5 best rate I had found up to this point was AAA rate with Hertz Full-size $152 total with taxes and coupons.
Today both Alamo and National rates dropped to $72.42 for Compact up to Full size. Added the insiders code and the $35 Costco coupon came out to $62.95 all in. (Up until today, National and Alamo had been close to $300 taxes in)

If your flying into SFB in the next week or so, definitely check the rates ASAP

Can someone please give me the code for the Costco coupon? I am a member. Thanks!

I just booked with Dollar for May4-6 for $9.90 a day with KISSE code from mousesavers. Lock low n go rate.

Hope it helps someone :)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm flying into Sanford too. I rechecked my rates and now have a mini van for 5 days for $173. It's only me and DH so a mini van is over kill but it's the cheapest thing going. But I'm still hoping.

No worries, it is your vacation and your budget. :)

I just booked a mini van from National for May 12-17 for an incredible $190.43. My original amount was $470.38. I'm so happy!!

No I didn't use any special codes or coupons. The original rate was $192.92/week and I got a discount of $19.29 and a free day for $34.72.

I was sorting thru travel confirmations today and noticed the National rental I had booked using KLM code is listed as "Counter" service.:headache: I specifically didn't attach a coupon to it (which sometimes does trigger counter service based upon past experience) and could've sworn it was originally EA since I attached out membership to it.

Does anybody else have an open KLM reservation? :confused:If so, have you checked it lately to see if you're counter or aisle?

It's not that the KLM code isn't legit and i have the airline card in hand, just don't want to mess with counter (yet another line to avoid) to save a few bucks kwim?

We have a ressie for 5/5-5/12 at the CCC with the KLM code. I just checked and my level of service is "counter". Hopefully the lines aren't too long at the CCC. $176 for the week total.

I could have got it cheaper at the airport with an extra day thru dollar but we wanted to do RAC and MME so not to stand in line at MCO with a car seat to add to checked baggage upon return.

Just got MMEtags today. Woot Woot!!
:surfweb:

okay, then likely my res hasn't been flagged:3dglasses but probably will just keep the alamo one that's slighty more $, thanks. I only have a 2 day, non-weekend res and it's tough to find discounts other than upgrades.

Alamo just dropped its prices again for the week of May 5-12. Using my insiders ID and the AA AD2359FDF coupon I got a full size for $85 including a free additional driver. Mini-vans are still $195 for that same time period.

checked rates today thru AAA's checker and saw that both dollar & enterprise had dropped, substantially, with the pop-up citi special being even better @ $12 a day for midsize & $15 for full size (pre tax/fees) for week of 5/20

not a big fan of dollar due to past experiences;) but for my short 24 hour rental decided to grab a fullsize via the citydeal for $47 (midsize would've been $41), almost 1/2 the price of what I've found via best codes for alamo & national.

Does Dollar still require stopping in terminal and waiting in line? Likely from not using it/CC on file expiring, I did find my dollar express membership needs to be updated by calling them and wasn't able to link it to reservation. Last time it was irritating that the express line in terminal was longer than the regular:confused:not sure if it's worth it or just to do the rapid checking online I was offered?

Okay Dollar fans - yes, i've dis'd them but give me the current drill. :)

I GOT my car rental down to $78!!!! Sat to Sat./ $15 is for the 3 hours "overage". For an exact week would have been $63! Intermediate.

April 28-May 5. Used Costco code (yes I am a member) and the AA coupon.

FYI-Just got a great rate with Alamo...5 days, intermediate for $80 TOTAL. Was thru carrentalsavers site.

Thank for the heads up!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I was gonna stick with my ressie thru the CCC for $176 total for 7 days(compact) and do MME but I couldn't resit $97 total for 8 days at MCO for an Impala or similar. I think i will book at character breakfast with the $$$ I saved. :cool1:

I should be able to get 2 bags and a sit/stand stroller in the trunk.

:coffee:

Thank you for that!!! I had a mid-size for one day at the CCC for $40 - now I have a mid-size for 7 days, picking up at MCO and returning to the CCC (taking ME back to airport) for only $80 all in!!!!! For the AA coupon - I'm guessing that is American Airlines, and I should probably join just in case??
