May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

Hey! I love following your PTR!! Thanks for coming on over!

Yep, this is specifically the Tea w/o characters or dolls (so it's cheaper :thumbsup2)

Re: autograph book, yes, that is what I do -- just take the "signing card" for characters that I haven't done yet. But we get such incredible reactions from the characters when they can see their own page ... and look through the book to see their "friends".

Here is Ariel -- she spent literally no less than 10 minutes on us looking through Rachel's "Disney ABC Book" (the book I made prior to her Autograph book). Minnie also loved it but since she is a fur character, you can't see her expression like Ariel.

Amazing!
i wouldn't have thought about the characters reactions. you are right, they are priceless! I'm going to have to start on a book after we get back- maybe that way i can get it finished before our next trip in 2013. :rotfl:

Wow! That ABC book is amazing. My daughter would go crazy for it. Good job! ;)
Q

Many thanks! It was a great way to get Rachel to learn her ABCs and to have some fun.

FYI -- that is actually book #2 if you can believe it. I also made a Disney Activity book for the airplane for her first trip. I'll have to post some pictures of that one too!

Yes, it does take a bit of time to do...but, since it's only 6x6" paper it's 1/2 the time of a normal scrapbook page.

A funny story -- when Ariel got to Ursula's page she told us all about how bad Ursula was and how she stole her voice from her, etc. It was great!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your book

Ah, many thanks! It was fun to do and I'm glad to share.

It was also neat to get CM signature for the rides.

Jungle Cruise boats, HM and Aladdin cast members had fun with it.

When we asked the "old guy" on Spaceship Earth, he thought we were crazy! But he still signed...and afterwards he had a chuckle on his face!:goodvibes

I am so very excited for this!!! I was already planning to be in Epcot anyway these days but now I think we will stay even longer in the parks...maybe not even leave for our afternoon nap if we can find someplace quiet for a bit to sit down.

Anyway, from Attractions Magazine

Disney has big plans for their Pixar characters the weekend of May 13 to 15, 2011. That’s the last few days of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival and it’s dubbed Disney-Pixar Weekend.

Although Disney hasn’t officially released much information about the event, an Attractions fan (JL_Davis on Twitter), told us they’re planning on having multiple meet and greet areas with Pixar characters all around Epcot. This includes some characters never before seen at Walt Disney World. This is also the same weekend the Cars Tour 2011 will be stopping at Downtown Disney.

• Banners will be hung at the Epcot auto plaza designating it Disney-Pixar Weekend.

• The Green Army Men from Toy Story will be at the Epcot entrance handing out maps to all the character locations.

• Carl, Russell, and Dug will be appearing at the fountain stage, along with an Up inflatable house.

• Mike, Sulley, Boo, Smitty, Needleman and George from Monsters Inc. will be at the Universe of Energy.

• Mr. and Mrs. Incredible from The Incredibles will appear at Innoventions West along with Frozone.

• Wall-E will be meeting guests at Mission Space.

• Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and the Rust-eze girls from Cars 2 will be at Test Track.

• Living Coral stiltwalkers will be appearing at The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

• Flik, Atta, Gypsy and Slim from A Bug’s Life will be at Village Traders in World Showcase.

• Remy and Emile from Ratatouille will be appearing in the France Pavilion.

• Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Bullseye, Lotso and Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story 3 will be at the American Adventure.

• A theater will be set up at World Showplace with a “garden” of photo stills from the Pixar movies. Guests will be able to listen to informal discussions from Pixar and sneak peeks at Cars 2. There will also a Pixar gift shop set up with some exclusive merchandise.

• Watch for the Cars 2 logo on Spaceship Earth after Illuminations.

In addition to the weekend events at Epcot, the Cars Tour 2011 will be stopping at Downtown Disney. (Click Here to see if the tour is coming to a town near you.) At the tour stop, fans can meet Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Finn McMissile and Mac Truck. There is expected to be a inflatable obstacle course and a classic car show.

As always, everything is subject to change as the event draws near. But it looks like a great photo-op weekend.

Now I definitely need to get working on some more Autograph pages or at a minimum just bring a ton of extra blank cards for the characters to sign.

There are so many new characters!! Whoop whoop!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

This looks super cool!! Too bad my family is going to miss it - our EPCOT day is Monday - maybe the park will be empty that day after all the weekend celebrations - wishful thinking I know.

WOW

That sounds so awesome

Can't wait to see al your pics from that :wizard:

Marsha :worship: and your ABC book....love it! the pixs of Ariel looking at it are great too...it is so fun when the characters/CM's get into the special things we create to make our trips that much more special...

I made a mini ABC book for Naomi from a Disers desgins for Nov...I have thought about doing an ABC "scavenger" hunt in Jan that we can then make a book as a family later when we get home  (take pictures there)

the Pixar event sounds amazing :goodvibes what great timing that you'll be there...I think we've seen the living coral back in 05...when one took Bekah's hat off as she was posing for a picture...it's a great memory.

ooh, so the living coral is kind of like Devine over at AK? Sounds great! I may have to add that to the list now.

I already told DH that I was thinking about skipping the Wal-mart trip and just packing all our food stuff so we could see the F&G show...now with all this happening, I definitely need to think about how much food stuff we can bring. If I deep-freeze my milk and OJ and put in a big cooler, they should keep cold enough for 2 days, I think...really just about 24 hours-36 hours until we can get into our room.

Love love lover the ABC book.
Going back to catch up. :surfweb:

thanks! It was a lot of fun to do and I'm happy that we'll get to use it again. I may even send it in for Rachel's Kindergarten class to look at if the teacher wants to see anything we did educational while in WDW.

And photopass photographers will be there, too for the characters, so I'm hoping they will also have some cool borders, too.

Oh, maybe you should think about rearranging your schedule for either Sat or Sun (don't you go to BB one of those days?) This is certainly going to be a once in a lifetime event to see all those characters. (This assumes you are into meeting the characters!)

But yes, I imagine that Monday will actually be a quiet day at Epcot since everyone will have gone over the weekend for F&G and Pixar.

That Pixar weekend sounds so fun!!

DH said whole milk may do okay after freezing but the others don't. He days it starts separating. He seems to think it would be better to just keep it in the cooler. I know we kept milk in the cooler for a werk or so when our fridge died. It was fine as long as we kept fresh ice.

I wish I had not seen that Pixar deal;) Now I want to switch our epcot day but the stars would really have to align. Akershus, bbb, f!, msep. I'll have to look at it tomorrow.

Here's a picture from our 2004 trip of Tyler and Chris with the coral. Tyler was actually 1/2 afraid of it so Chris had to hold him to pose for a picture.

Funny --I do freeze milk all the time before our vacations (so we don't have to buy milk the first day back) and we only use skim milk. I haven't noticed anything funny about it. I do shake it up before pouring, so maybe that helps it to align?

Hmm, next time I'll have to look to see what it does....

I'm telling ya, that Pixar thing is going to be huge...

WOW!!! That living coral is sooooo neat!! We will definitely go there now. I've never seen that before! Both DH and Rachel love the Devine character so this will be neat to see too!
