May 2011 Yo Ho Ho! Let Down Your Hair! (New 10/9 Lessons Learned #550)

Welcome!! Yes, it is a small world! What town do you live in? I bet my DH knows it. We went a few years ago to a family reunion south of Shreveport (Evergreen?, now I can't remember the name but it had something "green" in it I think :rotfl:)

And I love that song!! I could sit in there for quite a long time and no, the song does not bother me!

Goal this week: Organize kids clothing for each AM/PM of the trip and find shirts to match/coordinate for Jerry and myself.

This shouldn't be too hard since we did these same clothing colors for our July 2010 trip. Just hope everything is still in good shape for Jerry and I.

I'll post pics once I have everything laid out -- those of you who pack really light will :scared1::lmao::rotfl2:

We are in West Monroe which isn't too terribly far from Shreveport. There's a Greenwood near Shreveport which may be the town you went to for the reunion.

You are one organized woman when it comes to color coordinating and packing the clothes. :thumbsup2 I had to smile when you said "those of you who pack really light will :scared1:" because I'm definitely not a light packer either.

Welcome mike! yeah, we really did an about-face on the train. I had looked into it years ago but crossed it off as "too expensive" and not worth it. But with 4 people and extra stuff to take and not a big fan of driving 14+ hours, it's our new mode of transport!

We did soft openings for other rides so I'm nearly positive we'll be able to do it for SW.

For TSMM, they let AP and DVC folks test the ride out. We went like 3 times, got stuck 2 times but it was still fun!

Sounds like the way to do the trip for sure! Another cool perk of DVC membership! I think getting stuck on rides can be fun too, just part of the adventure of amusement parks.

I hadn't even thought about shirts, I usually do custom ones for out trips - yikes!

we are going to be there at the same time, and will also be at DHS on Monday. If you hear someone only singing the words YoHo that will be me. i must confess that i was the most excited in the house for the show to start and have yet to be able to see it. Stupid Work Schedule LOL
We are also doing the Rapunzel Dash. I'm planning it to be the first stop for my dd and i after a pre park Crystal Palace ADR. I really hope it works because it is my dd's number one must do.
The auto train sounds great to me! i hate to drive long distances or strange cars.
Cant wait to see your clothing. i am trying to coordinate a boy and girl only and feel somewhat defeated. i'm going to probably end up with theme coordination only and take advantage of black and white photography quite frequently. :rotfl2:
looking forward to more!

I swear you are the most organized person.:worship:

How are able to do this with having a little one.

Thankfully Elie naps from about 11:45am - 2pm each day!!!:cool1: When she gives up this nap, I'm going to be one sad mamma...

Talked to DH...he thinks it was Emerald Hills? or something like that. Oh well! Yes, he know West Monroe!

Yeah, I used to do the all the clothes in one suitcase...now I uber-organize and there is one ziploc bag with clothes in it for AM and one for PM. I also get a lot more in my suitcase that way!!

I assume you will skip custom shirts with less than a week to go!

I did read on another thread that they do themed shirts. One of their funnier ones was sodas: one person wears Coke, another Pepsi, another Sprite or Mountain Dew, etc. That's pretty cool!

Oh, I hope to see you at DHS! You know what we look like so if you see us, Please, Please stop me and say hello!!

Going over to your TR now to see what you look like and I"ll do the same!

OK, so I know we are getting closer to our vacation when we start planning the 30day countdown and watching Disney movies.

Tonight we watched
images

Earlier today we went to AC Moore since we had two 50% off coupons and they also had their entire stock of Crayola 50% off.

Rachel bought a small notepad so she can make her own Autograph book. She already did the first page -- Mickey Mouse! For those of you who know me, I scrapbook a lot (or as much as I can) and have created an extensive Disney Autograph book (see link in siggie for pics). So seeing Rachel all excited about doing her own book gives me GREAT joy!

Then I bought some markers, crayons and Tinkerbell ColorWonder pages for our trip.

Funny, you say that about clothes but yes, I do pack multiple outfits for each day -- one for AM and one for PM.

BUT, and that's a big one -- we have a washer/dryer in our DVC 1br so we usually do a load of wash before going to the parks and then when we get back we dry that. So I plan for 2x/day but only half the number of days.

I also try to coordinate so that the back-up outfit (gotta have one with kids) will match to anything we are wearing. That way I only do one back-up outfit for the entire trip. I'll keep it in a ziploc bag and just keep it in the stroller the whole time.

Where are you staying at for your trip? I can't believe it's your girls first time! They are going to love it!!

We might have to do laundry for the adult clothes because DH and I don't have very many summer clothes... and we might want to change after nap time too ;) So that's an option. But the girls' clothes are pretty small... and I can't. stop. buying. disney. clothes. :rotfl: I found a pink Goofy shirt at walmart today for DD1... it's really cute! So they definitely have enough clothes to have 2 outfits a day! Having a back up outfit for the week is a good idea, I think I'll just do that :)

I'll post pics once I have everything laid out -- those of you who pack really light will :scared1::lmao::rotfl2:

I'd love to see it! I'm not a light packer.... at all... REALLY glad we don't fly

What were your colors again? Red and black?

Oh...that is so cool Rachel is doing her own autograph book :goodvibes

I think it's great that Rachel is becoming crafty like her mommy!!:goodvibes

:guilty: Ok Marsha I am here...sorry a little late to the party...and PS I have another letter and special surprise from Rachel to Rachel just need to envelope it and find some stamps :goodvibes

Saturday, May 21st

Sadly, this is checkout day. This will have been our 3rd trip on one Annual Pass (July, 2010, Nov 2010 and May 2011). So we should be ready for it to end, right? Maybe even a little burned out?

wow that is AWESOME!!! I am getting 3 trips off my AP too...Nov 2010 (7 park days) Jan 2011 (4 park days) and Oct 2011 (5 park days) :thumbsup2 have decided I will renew my current one and use for our Jan '12 trip and then another mini Spectrum mom trip in Oct '12 too :cool1:

On past trips, I have bought a caramel apple or other goodie at Goofy's Candy Company and save it to eat after we get home. This is just my way to pretend that I'm still at Disney!

I do the same thing...but I generaly just have a few treats stashed for me :rolleyes1 think I still have a rice krispie from Nov...man those things never go bad

So there's our trip!

Not too much planned, right?!?:rotfl2:

:rotfl: love it Marsha and you know I am down w/ the matching and color coordinated clothes :thumbsup2

looking forward to more fun details!!!

and hey have you given any more thought to your possible Jan '12 trip...Rachel is wondering when she see your rachel again  as a reminder our dates are Sun 1-15 thru Thurs 1-19 at BLT and that's part of MLK weekend...but the highest estimated crowd attendance is an 8...nothing compared to T-giving week

I'm here!!! :yay: I followed the link in your sig from disneydreamingdebby's PTR. You've got some great plans so far!! :thumbsup2 Enjoy Kidani! :cloud9:

Welcome Julie!!

Rachel will be so excited to see what Rachel sent!

Ok, here's the bad news...we are not going over MLK for 2 reasons.

1 - going in January is supposed to be so we can avoid the crowds by all means possible. The week we are going is all 1-3's. That's SOOOOO much better.

2 - we are taking friends with us! They love Disneyland and used to live in CA but have moved to Virginia and never been to WDW. They have 2 girls, one Rachel's age and the other is just one year older than Elizabeth. So it'll be sooooooo adorably fun to be in WDW with 4 Disney loving, princess-costume wearing girls. I just can't stand it!

But I'd rather show them WDW for the first time when it is lowest crowds and having less waits will make it so much easier for everyone to stick together/meet-up...walk all the strollers around, etc.

However, I can't make my ressies until June so we don't have our exact dates yet. But we are looking at Jan 19 - 29 (arrive in WDW on Jan 20)...so we will miss you by {sadly} one day. I just don't have enough points to add another day and don't want to take another school day (already taking 5-6 depending if the proposed moveable no-school day happens or not).

I'm here!!! :yay: I followed the link in your sig from disneydreamingdebby's PTR. You've got some great plans so far!! :thumbsup2 Enjoy Kidani! :cloud9:

Welcome!! Thanks for coming over!

Kody loves Terrance. She thought he was so adorable in June.

I just found your trip report and am joining in.

We will be there around the same dates as you.

My DH would also be happy with no planning. No Adrs, certain parks each day, etc. We did that for 2 trips before we had DD and I looked at pictures from those trips the other day. The barely contain any park pictures. I think we spent most of the time at the pool. Therefore, I need plans or he'll keep us all lounging around the resort all day.

I am also planning our relax time. I made sure to include a few hours of down time each day for DH.

Looking foward to the rest.popcorn::

Oh yeah, CRT is expensive but it is such a nice experience for little girls. We took DD last year and I will never forget the look on her face throughout the meal. Absolute magic:love:

Welcome! Yeah! Maybe we'll see each other in the parks!

My DH and I did do a non-park Disney trip when we stayed at AKL. It was a fun trip and I was surprised by how much there was to do outside the parks.

Oooh, I can't wait for CRT (except that it's our last day of course). RAchel will be in Cinderella costume and Elizabeth will be in Rapunzel.:cloud9:

My good dis-friend mousescrapper has totally inspired me to do a few Disney days prior to our trip. We did this for our November 2010 trip and had:

- Splash Mountain Day
- parade and Fireworks
- MNSSHP

They were a LOT of fun (see Nov TR link below if you want to see).

So, we are going to do two more dinner/disney days in prep for this May trip.

Rachel and I planned these out this morning and I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Although this isn't a great picture of him it is Terrance. Now Terrance was also very entertaining for the girls. When "Boo" was visiting With Tinkerbell and wouldn't visit with him he was using this pole in Pixie Hollow like a stripper pole. They just loved that.:rotfl:

So the 3 main attractions that are on our list for Disney are: Rapunzel, Jake & the Neverland Pirates and Magician Mickey.

Our first Disney day dinner will be at the Snuggly Duckling Restaurant and Bar. Here is the menu:

Appetizer: Flynn Rider's Cantaloupe Boats with Banana and Pineapple Lanterns

Entree (mixed in a frying pan, of course!):
Rapunel Angel Hair Pasta with Mother Gothel Beauty Sauce (alfredo sauce with some black food dye)

Stabbington Brothers Stabbing Meaty Muscle Balls

Veggies: Pascal's Camoflauge Veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)

Rapunzel's Tower of Garlic bread

Dessert: Maximus' Apple Crumb Pie

Drink: I have a dream Punch

Then we'll have bar snacks (pop corn mixed with candy) while watching the movie.

Oh, he is a cutie!!

The next character in her sights is Peter Pan. She explained that last night that she had a crush in him when she was a little girl so he is her most important one as he was her first. This should be fun.:rotfl:
