It's nice to know that someone has already done a hotel switch (Fairfield Inn to an official Disney hotel) in the middle of a trip. Usually when I go to Disneyland I stay at one hotel for the entire trip, but I thought this time we would mix things up a bit. I've always wanted to stay at Fairfield Inn, and this trip will be my first time there. I've also never stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, but I did go to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner!
I don't know how you'll like the Fairfield, but we personally liked it a lot, we've stayed there a couple of times. It's nothing fancy, but it is comfortable and clean, and close!
I honestly haven't been keeping track of the renovations at the Disneyland Hotel (but I really should), so can't answer your question... sorry! I just figured that as long as my room is OK, I'll be OK. I would think that the Disneyland Hotel would have some type of sign on how to get to the park if the usual entrance/exit is under renovation... or I would just ask a hotel worker.
I think you have a great attitude! I found this site, btw, it's got GREAT pictures/information of the updates! The DL hotel info is towards the bottom..http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/da...land-gets-ready-big-summer-premieres.html#DD6
I hope you can get a great deal to stay onsite. I received a special discount through my email for "most of the days" in May. This is my first time to receive what is I think a pin number discount/coupon/promotion from Disney. I was also reading somewhere that Disney could do a summer promotion later on. I hope you get to stay where you want to and have a great trip!
Yes, it would be nice! My husband got an email with a pin (he's ordered a free dvd, and must have got it off that request) but it's for certain days, all in May, but we'd only be there for 2 days in May...I have to take a look at it again. It would be good if they sent one for June, but they probably don't have to, based on the summer crowds, etc.
What is the opposite side of Memorial Day? My ressie runs the Friday before til the Friday after Memorial Day. I got that bugger completely surrounded! I'm not too worried about crowds (except for the Ariel effect) because it's the start of the summer season and the park should be fully staffed, Hawaii's school year is shorter than most so many places are still in session, and Memorial Day is 3 straight days of blockouts for annual passes. Nothing affects crowds more than AP blockouts!
CrazyDuck, we'll be there during some of your dates, but will miss the memorial day weekend, since we'll be in San Diego. So are the AP blockouts not in June at all?
You are kidding yourself if you think that you are not going to be standing in long lines. There are 1 million AP holders and they are all going to want to go when you are there. 2 reasons... Star and Tours! It's going to reopen on the 10th.
Of course by now, you know that it's actually opening on June 3 along with LM.
We expect crowds, but if it gets crazy well just head back to the hotel and hang out in the pool. Infact, I plan on reserving a cabanna for the weekend so I can watch the Indy 500 while the kiddos swim. Have Fun!
What hotel are you staying at? Just curious..the ones we're looking at don't have Cabanas, that sounds nice!
May 29th-June4th
have reservations for the Ramada Maingate, but may switch if a better deal comes along (avg $95/night +tax)
Have you stayed there before, 07pilot? If so, how do you like it? Is it in walking distance?
I had no idea ST was schedule to reopen on the 10th, where did you find this info? Is it official? Our boys will be thrilled, it's one of their favorites!!
ST & LM are opening June 3rd.
May 28-June 2
Staying at Residence Inn , our home away from home!
Also visiting Adventure City in Orange County!
Cagirl, what type of rates are you getting, we'll be there during similar times! I've considered the RI before..
